I thought Cloud's weaknesses and complexities made him a far more interesting character than Zack, though I like him too. Pitting the two against each other always seems so silly, though I suppose it's inevitable given Zack's influence on Cloud. I thought it was kind of nice back then to have a protagonist who was a little bit jerky and insecure. I couldn't help but root for him throughout the game. And by the end of it, he comes out a pretty stellar guy.I cried. But it's mostly because Zack is far more likeable than Cloud. I knew it was coming, but I didn't think I'd like Zack that much when I started CC.
I was... no longer in high school by the time FF7 released in NA. We will just leave it at that.
Tom Hall was lead designer on Anachronox and his main inspiration was Chrono Trigger. John Romero did not work on it.

DO IT!
They really are getting progressively shameless, aren't they...
It makes me really sad, because I think about the nest of birds on Mt. Corel and the choice you have to make. Get 10 phoenix downs and destroy the nest, or leave it alone? Thinking that someone would take the phoenix downs makes me sad.

Also honestly shocked (well, interested) by how many people were "surprised" at getting out of Midgar and "finding a whole world". For people who've never played an RPG I guess that makes total sense, but for those who had..really? You didn't expect an overworld with airship travel for an FF game by that point in time? Though I wonder how long it took the average player back then to get through Midgar. I don't remember it being very long at all so if that's really all the game was it wouldn't quite be an RPG haha.
Happy Anniversary!

NOW MAKE THE DAMN REMAKE ALREADY.

I'd like to believe not. I think it entirely depends on the person in charge of the game (such as you-know-who).
Jiggling aside, Tifa was handled well enough in Dissidia. There's nothing wrong with creating an attractive character or inserting fanservice when the situation is appropriate.
The above gif'd FMV is none of those things. It was a blatant zoomed-in boob fest that marred the tension of the story that was happening earlier.
In fact, much of FFVII inserts inappropriately comedic moments in-between some of its darkest points.
Aerith dies>comical Elena "fight">Snowboarding mini-game
Cloud goes nuts, Sephiroth gets Materia>bouncing CG juggs during FMV
Tifa nearly dies, Weapon is destroying Junon>slap fight
And so on.
Anyway, the more realistic the Remake's graphics are, the less I'll have to worry about how she'll be depicted.
As long as they match this level of visuals, everything will be fine:

Won't stop fanboys from their balloonish fanart, but at least they'll realize SE isn't intentionally shoving the tits in your face.

THIS! It horrified me to imagine someone picking that option. I tried it once to see what would ensue and instantly reset because 'my' Cloud would never do that.![]()
The most anticipated epic adventure of that year.
I still remember the day that I watched a trailer of the game in a demo disc and I said "Beautiful"

Holy Batman!! spoilers!!
I would be pissed if I watched the trailer back then, the only info I had was a 2 page preview on my preferred magazine back there.I kinda miss those times, when you only had a few screens and a few lines of description.
My parents originally bought me a PSX and FFVII when I was 11. They didn't realize that the PSX needed a video card for this game. I ended up playing through the Midgar three times before my parents were able to get me a memory card.
anyone gonna replay this game? I never beat it so I wanna try again

Join us in this thread. You don't have to play the games in any order, and you don't have to play all the games if you don't want to! You can just play FFVII and run with it.anyone gonna replay this game? I never beat it so I wanna try again
Awesome, awesome game.Tom Hall was lead designer on Anachronox and his main inspiration was Chrono Trigger. John Romero did not work on it.
Aeris's theme as the holy materia hits the water. I'll never get that vision out of my head. Such a fantastic game.
The best music-to-moment match in the game is the main overworld theme climax whenCloud takes off his soldier mask in the lifestream flashback.
What are your favorite memories of it?
For this reason, I don't want a remake. None of the humour, or really even the more subtle elements of the story, would gel really well with the faux-realism style now associated with Final Fantasy VII thanks to the Compilation.
