Hello everyone, anyone recommend one of the following? Going to pick up a Vita on Amazon and do the £15 game deal:

Virtua Tennis 4 (I do love VT series but is this worth picking up?)
Luminies (Never played one, not sure if it will be my thing? How much is it on PSN?)
Dungeon Hunter Alliance (not seen anything about this game?)

Any help much appreciated!

1. Virtua Tennis is the best looking Vita game, 60FPS strong - GET IT.

2. Puzzle game, PSN version is cheaper and has more content. Wait till it hits $20.

3. Stinker ported from iOS, don't buy even @ $5.

I meant that sometimes we need to go through the things we don't like for some reason or another. As someone has said, PSP was hacked using save game exploits. Is it shit you cannot access your saves? Yes, but that is the price you have to pay if we are to have healthy PSVita ecosystem.

I think I totally took the original post the wrong way.
Well anyway, this better be worth it. If the Vita still gets hacked and I'm here with this bad save system, I will be even more bothered. I would not be happy if I suffered this for nothing... which seems to be the case with all these protection things that companies do.

Sorry. I didnt get that impression from your other posts.

Anyways, I think his point was that this is just another classic case of legit people getting screwed over because of the off chance that someone might do something theyre not supposed to. A better comparison would be DRM and all the negative aspects of it screwing up people that legitimately bought a game. It sucks.

Well, I'm happy that people think my english is good.
I usually take a long time to write out my posts to try to make them understandable. I have a dictionary and other language tools with me at my computer. It's good to know that I'm doing well.

I understand the point now. But doesn't DRM never work? It always just ends up inconveniencing legitimate users for nothing.

I havent played a handheld since GBA so Im definitely craving some turnbased/strategy rpgs! Any other must haves?

I always recommend Jeanne D'arc.
There are other good ones, but I'm sure other people will mention them. No one ever mentions Jeanne D'arc.

Yes, I believe it is. I was looking at it in the PSN download list on my Vita yesterday, if I'm not mistaken. I was checking to see what games I already own on PSN I can download to my Vita...

That's too bad... I put one on the very first thing when I unboxed my Vita: pulled the system out of the plastifoam envelope it comes wrapped in, laid it on top of the envelope on the kitchen counter, chased the cats off the counter, brushed the Vita's face with one of my PSP microfibre cloths, then layed the screen saver on it nice and clean, all in about 2 minutes flat. It went without a hitch...

It didn't help that one of them was actually defective and wouldn't peel onto my PSV like it was supposed to.

Brought my Vita to work for my friend to see and everyone flew over saying: "what the fuck is that beautiful thing?!" heh. One of my bosses actually has a PSP so he knew what it was but it was pretty funny.

Pretty much. I cant think of a single time where it actually worked. The people who buy the game have to deal with DRM and the people who pirated it dont.

I also wonder if Sony locking out the saves will help any in the long run or if it will turn out just like you speculated - where we have to deal with crappy save management and the Vita STILL gets hacked.
I guess we just wait and see what happens. Ideally, Sony will figure out a reasonable workaround.

I always recommend Jeanne D'arc.

Jeanne D'Arc is awesome. I bought that on a whim and was so surprised by how much I liked it.

Did you guys start? I'm in Cat lobby 1.

Yeah sorry, you have to search the open games in the tourney screens. I should be done in probably 20 as this is an 18 hole game.

People came in but they have to know to search for the game and book it or else they will be left out. I can book it but can't force everyone to join me. I hollered like 10 times and only 2 of us joined :/

Lord Error

Insane For Sony
With so many good things being said about the system, it is a bit surprising that more people aren't noticing and commenting on these points. I worry that once the euphoria wears off, there will be even more problems exposed.
Most of those things are not really a problem, or are flat out wrong. You can, for example, see people who are on your friends list on PS3, send them a message, check their trophies etc. You can back up your save files using the content manager software they have.

I want to play Jeanne D'arc, but last time i checked it was $22.99 on PSN. Game is too old to still be 23 dollars. Waiting for a sale.

I LOVE gadgets, I LOVE gaming, I imported a PSP at launch from Japan, so why oh why cant I get excited about Vita at all? :/

Maybe its because Sony underwhelm me in general (PS3 does little for me I have to admit) or maybe its the fact that in the years since the PSP came out Ive grown out of handheld gaming??

Whatever it is, its just not doing it for me when everything suggests that it should. Even youtube unboxing vids didnt get the old nerd juices flowing. Maybe I need to actually hold one and play one?

Heck I even went on ShopTo and hovered over the wifi model knowing that i could quite easily afford it and...........still nothing!

Am I unwell? :/

You're not unwell. I could also easily afford a vita, but I'm not touching it anytime soon and not until at least a revision.

I will not buy a mobile device that does not have internal memory built in. It's that simple, if Sony has revisions and none of those revisions have at least 16GB built in SSD memory, then I'll never, ever buy a Vita.

Sony should learn from Steam how to do firesale on old games. It's basically free revenue and profit for games that have already recouped all development expenses and are just sitting there. Using Jeanne D'arc, Field Commander, and Daxter as examples, have a firesale one week where they go for $4.99 ($3.49 for PS+) each, next week do some other games like Syphon Filter DM, Twisted Metal, etc... this is true for all psn games though, not just PS3. They have some sales, but they usually are not in the "impulse buy" sales range.

My opinion:

Yes.
Good game. 35$.
Wait for Warrior's Lair/Ruin.

Also just looked up Warriors Lair, wow, impressive stuff. Thanks for the suggestion, another reason I want a Vita lol!

Went to work yesterday and they had a Vita sign there finally (Walmart). Also, the few employees I talked to about it actually knew what the Vita was, although not all of them knew too much about it.

Ah, I actually just got into the lobby and there are 5 other people in here. Not sure if they are gaffers though.

Dissidia and 3rd birthday with camera on 2nd analog are fucking awesome.

This handheld wins. It's so well thought out and put together.

haha that is awesome. Just goes to show how brilliant the Vita is and how horrible it has been marketed. Sony should just hire all of Gaf to advise it on the PS4 relief. It would be money well spent.

My God this system is awesome!
We need more enthusiasm in this thread!

I was really enjoying RE Revelaitons on the 3ds before the Vita came out but it’s going to take a while for me to go back now….

The screen is unbelievable! The system feels well-made and comfortable. The interface is sleek, fast, and unique.

Blaz Blue and Rayman have an incredible amount of visual depth (different from something like 3d but still equally impressive and much easier on the eyes).

If this system fails, it won’t be due to me! Picked up 6 launch games and will pick up another 6 in the next couple months. My co-workers are blown away by it as well. Shame they had no idea it existed before seeing mine…

Question about the PSP games (which look SO much better than I was expecting):

Anyone get Motor Storm Artic Rush to work?

Any plans to enable the right stick in Peace Walker or am I going to have to buy the HD collection to play this game with the control scheme I want?

Thanks and enjoy!

Sorry to hear. I love how well it fits and how nicely it came on. Glad Sony makes them and sells them for a reasonable price.

I'm wondering if I can just keep trying with the current one I have instead of buying a new one. Might try creating some steam with my shower. Apparently that helps.

Dude, I'm the most enthusiastic person on the planet when it comes to Vita. I love the damn thing.

Lumines on Vita is REALLY good, though. The PSN version is cheaper, but it doesn't have the same soul. Lumines is all about the quality of the music/skins and I haven't really enjoyed any of the games outside of Lumines 1 for this reason. The Vita version is far and away the best follow-up and well worth buying for those who haven't played it before.

It does work, but you need to enable it. Hold your finger on the touch screen when running a PSP game and you'll see various options. You can enable it from that menu.

Seconding this, Lumines Electronic Symphony is the best one since the original on PSP. Still haven't made it too far though so I can't say if it's better or not, but all the sequels since Lumines 1 pale in comparison to the PSV game. Worth the full price if you're interested in Lumines at all.

I was gonna ask about these.

How much is the new Dissidia on the PSN store? Also, what about the graphics?

It's $30 which is a bit on the pricey side, but worth it because of how much damn content is packed into this fucking game. Visually, it looks great though the dithering from the PSP is there in full force thanks to the clarity of the OLED screen. The assets (particularly the character models) and the colours pop on the screen though, with not much aliasing compared to on PSP despite being blown up.

Overall it's one of the best looking games on PSP and does not slouch on Vita. Highly recommend Dissidia 012. I don't know why I didn't buy it when it came out on PSP because I love it, but I've spent just as much time with this game as my favourite PSV games.

One thing I noticed with Virtua Tennis is the incredible amount of depth the court has on the screen. It's not 3D but you get a good sense of depth while playing.

My face looks a bit weird on my create a character. It doesn't help that cheap cameras make my face look like a splotchy mess.

I was in Walmart last night picking up a few things, and wandered over to see what they had in the way of Vita games and accessories. Mine has a Vita display up, but mostly it was empty. I think there were maybe 3-4 game available and zero accessories. I'm assuming that most things will get filled in on launch day next week.

It is already enabled, you just need to select it. Start PW, press Vita screen for a few seconds, PSP menu should pop up, you can map the second stick there.

Let me know how it works out. I have a few air bubbles that really aren't that bothersome, but if it is easy to redo the protector without wasting it then I would.

I still don't get how near works. On my old account (japanese) I had about 10 people show up, with almost covering 8km distance. But now I switched my account to US account, and use near I get nobody show up and distance is only 2km. Also I can't even click on my own account, even though in the near seting I set to show my online ID.

Did you press the Near update button at the top right ?

Alternatively, enable automatic location update.

I did retry it a couple of times last night and there were fewer bubbles. There's this nagging one right in the middle of my screen that I think is a little speck of dirty stuck on the inside of the protector. Hoping I can just get it off.

I'm finding that a lot of the bubbles are around the edges too and I can't seem to rub them out. :( Might give it another go before I buy another pack. I'm wondering if they will apply them for free if I buy them from the local mom & pop shop.

Can the rear touch be disabled in most games? I have a feeling it's going to drive me nuts trying to not touch it while holding the system.

It's not enabled by default. Games that use backtouch will have to take care of false positive gestures.

Alright, I'm getting really annoyed. Every time I try to sign up for the DataConnect service, I get a SOH00004 error. I saw on the web that some people had the same issues with their Ipads, and it was elevated by turning the WIFI off before you try to set it up. I tried this and still got the error, Ugh!!! Anyone else having these issues, or know a possible fix?

Also, I don't see a damn thing in my Vita box about the free month. On the app, it says that you get a free game after 30 days, but nothing about the buy 1 get 1 DataConnect.

Plus it has an AWESOME soundrack that is current. I am so glad I downloaded it Wednesday. The original lumines has a great soundtrack that is showing its age.

I really like all the launch games I bought (FIFA, Lumines, Hot Shots, Wipeout), but Virtua Tennis might be the one I've been having the most fun with.

I tried it at Gamestop. Holy crap I could not believe how good it looked. Uncharted and Virtua Tennis both look like PS3 games on that small screen.

What they need is an Invisible Shield for the Vita. I had one for my iPhone for the longest time and it is basically impossible to end up with air bubbles since you spray the protector with a liquid before applying.
