Halo 4 Follower is getting ideas...

It's still available for the 360, why is there a need to re-release it?

How about GonD? I never played it and the only reason I know of it is because of Master Chief Sucks at Halo 2.

I remember all that nonsense, all these supposed Shadowrun fans that I had never heard of or played with started extolling the virtues of the game and looking forward to Reach because of its influences. Name dropping Shadowrun for MLG cred was pretty pathetic, most of them never played it, and if they did, it was for like a day where they got stomped and then went back to Halo 3. Then they bring it up when talking about Reach like they are some Shadowrun vet.

I never played Shadowrun much but from the little I played I just never got a feel for how they could merge it with Halo. It seems like some of the people on the MLG forums had weird, potentially unrealistic expectations?

I dont know enough about Shadowrun to really talk from that point of view, but I can certainly see how the crowd mentality on some forums would get a lot of people into the hype. Personally even if Shadowrun could mix well with Halo I would still want a Halo vet as multiplayer lead with the Shadowrun guy under him. To me it just seemed crazy giving Sage so much creative control over a franchise he hasnt worked on before.

The MLG crowd is always about what is the most competitive settings and stripping it down and having a skill gap. Shadowrun was a incredibly competitive and skillful game, some would even say it mirrored Halo 1 in skill gap. With Sage coming on many assumed it would be like "peanut-butter and jelly" mix with Halo from Bungie and Sage with the competitive aspect. So that's why there was a lot of hype from them.

Yep, that was the main thing, the actual game mechanics merging with Halo wasn't the exact reason for excitement, it was the fact that Shadowrun was such a well balanced and competitive shooter with a huge skill gap that got people excited. But those games don't sell, so you have to compromise design to get sales, AKA Reach.

Also John Howard wasn't the Lead Designer of Reach, he was more of the reason that Shadowrun is so amazing more than Sage is.

Yeah I never understood why. I remember questioning the fact that it was so weird that they had the lead developer for a different game being put in such a high position but everyone seemed infatuated by him. Just to clarify I have nothing against Sage personally, I just never understood why everyone seemed to like him so much based on the vidocs. Was it just the beard?

yeah, it was all about his looks for me

I made the mistake of thinking 1 newcomer couldn't possibly convince a studio of hundreds to screw up their decade old sacred gameplay values millions of people loved.

Ah fair enough so it was more the competitive balance than game design they wanted. That makes a lot of sense, Halo style gameplay with a Shadowrun style skill gap seems like a very good thing on paper, would probably be an absolute nightmare to get right though (I doubt Halo will ever truly hit its competitive peak again, there's too large of a casual audience). It doesn't seem like Sage took that angle with Reach, but it would have been interesting to have seen what could have come of it.

That said I barely played Shadowrun so anything I say has to be taken with a pinch of salt lol.

If they shoved him in a more secondary role I would agree with you, but from what I remember he was the multiplayer design lead? I just cant comprehend why that ever happened. I hate to say it but in my mind the only way he got that position is because all the Halo veterans where all working on Destiny? If so in a way that would suck, but in another way oddly gets me excited for Destiny.

I'm sure this is exactly what happened.

This is a bit early to think about but are any of you guys going to replay past Halo campaigns prior to 4 coming out? If so, what games and in what order?

I think I would go:

Reach
CE Anniversary
2 (up to New Mombasa slip space jump)
ODST
Remainder of 2
And finally 3.

Wars is so separate it doesn't feel necessary at all.

won't load for me, what's the gist?

what was wrong with it?

If I decide to stop being lazy I'll finish my review tonight. Basically there's 2 big problems. My right bumper broke along with several of my friends controllers (why I'm returning and not getting a replacement) and the the sticks hit 100% before hitting the sidewall of the stick housing making it crazy hard to have a consistent aim.

And are people really getting mad about Frankie posting here? If they care so much get an account here.
PLEASE DONT!

God bless you Tashi0106 for taking the plunge, I'm still lurking the ponies but one of these days I might actually get the courage to join into the glorious realm of the bronies.

Don't know if anyone's tried this yet, but you can kinda sorta create H4 Chief's armor in Reach.

Choose Recon for both shoulders, Mark VI for the helmet, and Jorge's chest plate.

"Frankie is pissing me off. You have 343 forums for a reason."
You left out the best part:

"27 users thanked Labedpwner101 for this useful post."

what was Frankie's post?
The OP referenced Frankie's post about the MS Studios thing that had nothing to do with Halo and continued on to say that he didn't think we would get any Halo 4 info at the Showcase because of this post.

That's when the first reply struck.
