Rarest Game You Own?

Lyte Edge

All I got for the Vernal Equinox was this stupid tag
I've sold off a lot of the rarer stuff I used to own already, so I think for me now it's Rakugaki Showtime for PSOne. I've tried to sell the game on eBay unsuccessfully over the last few years...it's gone for as high as $400.

For those who have went through the entire thread. Who has actually posted the most rare and/or expensive item here on gaf?

Probably fr4nz with his sealed Zelda: Minish Cap LE. According to his post there are only 300 of them. It would probably go for thousands of dollars on ebay.
I said a couple of hundred dollars in a previous post, but after seeing a mint but opened Majora's Mask Adventure Set Box, of which they made 1000 copies, go for AU $3,350.00 recently, I'd say the Minish Cap one would go for significantly more than that.

I've got lots of old PC CD-ROM games that are probably hard to come by today. Ever played Bioforge?

I have some vintage gaming gear and magazines from the 80's. Last Ninja 3, Pirates! and the BBC Micro version of Elite are my personal favourites in my collection. All can be acquired if you do enough digging but these are complete and in good condition considering they're pushing 30 years old now. There's a copy of Last Ninja 3 for 100 pounds on eBay so I guess it's not too rare.

TheBishop: Bioforge was awesome. Forgot about that one. I'll have to track down a copy now. There are a lot of gems from that era. I just need more money and shelf space to accommodate them all

Damn, those PC games in the last few posts gave me some serious nostalgia.

On topic, I'd have to go with any of:
Panzer Dragoon Saga (Saturn)
Dragon Force (Saturn)
Magic Knight Rayearth (Saturn) - Last game released in the US for the system, had a 15k print run.

And this makes me wonder if my Saturn still works >.> Would love to sit down and play some of these again.

EDIT: And thinking back on that Gearbolt case, I'm jealous. Uber freakin' jealous.

My parents still have our entire NES and Genesis collection, and I still have all of my old PSX games, but for new games... the most rare game I own is MVP '05. It sounds weird to those not involved, but MVP '05 for PC goes for like $100 online with some regularity.

Not necessarily rare, but I have all of the Resident Evil ports for GameCube, which are expensive and tough to find. I managed to get them all for a reasonably good deal several years ago.

They were hard to find for a few months and then they reprinted both titles and you could find new copies for under 30 bucks.

They are still easily found online even now.

In 1997 I've bought a PAL copy of Terranigma.
The game still bid for 100/200 euro on ebay (not that I'm interested in selling it).

Speaking of which, recently saw a bid for a scandinavian PAL version of Soul Blazer (only PAL version with english text):
Went for almost 500 euro, damn .

Although the controls were godawful, the storytelling and pseudo-rpg gameplay were way ahead of their time. I think a modern remake could be amazing.

I don't think that it's as rare as some of the other games mentioned in this thread, but I think the rarest game I own is Suikoden II. It's far from mint condition as I bought it used in the first place, but that's okay because it plays, and happens to me one of my favorite games of all time.

Edit: I would post a picture of it, but I don't have it at my apartment--it's at my parents' for safekeeping.

I have a limited edition Twisted Metal 7.1 PS3 Headset autographed by David Jaffee. As far as I know you could only when these from going to the launch event and they only had 5 of them.

I just took whatever people mentioned that I happened to own. Never really felt any of it was rare or anything, but the price on that component cable surprised me.

IMG_0257.jpg

You know, I want that component cable, but I'm not paying nearly the price of a Wii for it. You'd think the price would have dropped after Wii came out.

As for my rarest game? I honestly don't know. I have been collecting games for 30 years now, but I never resell or trade any of them. I collect the experiences, and I never let them go. I'll dump a bunch of shots I took this morning on here of anything I ever got an inkling might be rare. Maybe some of you guys can lat me know what is actually rare and what isn't. I don't really have a lot if imports, or any signed copies. Just what I've picked up over the years.

Here's my current "old game nook:"

I ordered some bulk DS boxes and made custom cases for my GBA and GB games near the beginning of this year, like so:

zeldaoracleagesseasons.jpg

Sadly my Oracle of Seasons is missing, some kid stole it when he slept over with my son.

Most of my C-64 stuff is no longer in boxes.

Also, and the collectors amongst you will wince at this, but I got rid of all my jewel boxes that had PS1, Saturn, SegaCD, Dreamcast games.

silentbomber.jpg

Probably killed a lot of value doing that, though I still have the jewel box inserts (some folded, in these game cases). I'm thinking one day I'll make custom box cases for those, in either standard size or slim DVD cases.

It's the kind of thing I like doing, for the way everything sits on the shelf:

^ Very impressive Imbarkus, that's quite the collection.

The only game i have that could be considered rare, is a copy of Eternal Darkness in great condition and complete.

Don't really own any rare games :(

I did own Uniracers at some point, which apparently only had 300k copies made. Can't find it now though. Also own FFVII black label, but that isn't worth much.

That's just a great game, right there. You should pick up Call of Cthulhu, Dark Corners of the Earth. I have it for XBox 1 but you can get it on Steam.

My collection is at crazy levels, I just posted what I thought might be rare to see if anything stands out to somebody. But honestly I have over 700 c-64 games on floppy disk alone that are probably slowly losing the magnetic information stored on them.

I do like collecting games, but there is some truth to the saying that the things you own end up owning you.

I used to own the majority of the rare US Saturn releases but i ended up selling it off to other members here. I still have a lot of the original PS1 rares which I might end up selling soon to get myself a vita.

I think one of the coolest things I had was a broadband adapter and component cables for my gamecube.

All with cases (those big ones):

Original Half-Life
Populous (Gold Case)
System Shock 2
All the Civilization games before III

And a bunch of others my dad just uncovered. Still need to check if they sell for anything.

I also own the fixed version of SNK Vs. Capcom Card Fighters DS. Pretty much every version on eBay is either the glitched version or there's no way to know which version it is.

Where can I easily find the content of those disks online? I'd love to burn my own DVDs and make a collection to put on my shelf.

http://www.1up.com/do/minisite?cId=3145462

Get 'em while they're still available. It's funny 'cuz I started making these DVDs because my old iMac wouldn't play the video without being choppy.

Now I'm considering getting a blu-ray burner, downloading 'em all again, and burning them to disk in HD, just to have 'em.

I don't think I have anything too rare, just collector editions and old games, probably nothing a trip to eBay won't solve.

Pics of the games I thought were uncommon enough:

The rarest game i own, would probably have to be Shadow of Memories aka Shadow of Destiny on the Ps2. Great game, with they would make another for Ps3. One Can Dream.

Turns out I did own something pretty cool: I own a Pokémon Gold cartridge pressed on yellow rather than the gold semi-transparent plastic shells they were usually printed in. It's not a rip-off, there's apparently a very small print that used the Pokémon Yellow plastic for whatever reason. I suspect they are sort of rare because I read on some rom hacking community years back that they really wanted one of those so they could see if the data on them was identical to the regular carts. I don't actually have it at my place, so no pictures. I know exactly what box it is in at my mom's. With my luck it's worth millions and she's thrown it out.

I guess right now besides my Intellevision and collection of like, a shitton of games for it, it'd be my Japanese boxed copy of Electroplankton that came with the headphones.

Aoz53.jpg

This for me. I saw Atlus and knew it would be a hard-to-come-by title. Luckily I was right. I don't know anyone else that owns it.
I own it too! I bought it when I was a boy for my birthday, and it, combined with Snowboard kids fueled my love for Atlus.

I have Dragon Quest V DS, people tell me it was really limited. Can anyone confirm?
If its European, yes. Otherwise, sorry US version got a reprint last year.

This brings me nicely onto some of my ones, these are the modern definition of rare as in it costs a bit of money but you can find someone selling it online easily rather than hardly ever seeing anyone sell it:
Electroplankton, Dragon Quest V and Chrono Trigger for DS (the latter two you might go eh? but for some reason the European copies are rather pesky to hunt).

For GBA. FFVI Advance, Kirby & the Amazing Mirror (again if you're going eh there are European copies, the latter in particular is rarely seen). Lesser ones which are the "still sell for a lot" are things like Golden Sun 2, Advance Guardian Heroes (or was it only the Japanese version that is worth anything?), various imports like Wario Ware Twisted, a few Atlus things (Super Robot Taisen, Summon Night) and nearly all the Bit Generations games (missing Dotstream and Soundvoyager). I suppose Famicom Mini: Nazo no Murasemejo is the only off the beaten track on. Maybe Nonono Puzzle: Chai-rian too..

Gamecube I have the usual pieces like Twilight Princess, Skies of Arcadia, Pokemon Box (though this one is merely uncommon as its not the US version but the hardware bundle from Europe, making it more common than the Club Nintendo boxed version which is probably rarer than the US version...), Pikmin 2 (also much cheaper than the US version which makes no sense as the US got a Player's Choice re-release, I think it was that way before the New Play Control version too).

If only I had Evolution Worlds (the European version is very obscure) then I'd actually have something interesting to say...wait, I remember now. Star Wars Rebel Strike demo disc...

Game Boy I guess Grandia Parallel Trippers now thats is no longer, what was it $5 from play-asia...I suppose if you count counterfeit games then the 8-in-1 I have (contains Pipe Dream, Space Invaders, Master Karateka, KLax, Motorcross madness, Dr. Mario, Kakumon Hebi*, Alleyway) from a holiday roughly 20 years ago in Lanzarote might be more obscure.
