I stole money from my parents in high school too, first it was to buy Cypress Hill's Temple of Boom, since I was living in Indonesia, they only had the CD version, and unlike 99% of the rest of music sold there, it was a real version, not pirated. Therefor it cost 40 bucks. So I stole money, and kept doing so until I overheard them talking about money missing and I freaked the fuck out and never stole from them again.

Also, can't picture you going to school for japanese history. Why'd you pick that major?

I stole a bit more than that..

I have done some real shit in my life.. I have popped at people and what not.. but stealing from my father was the shittiest. I paid him back... but that's not the point

I was a computer networking major at first.. and looked at my peers one day and said fuvk this..

I love history in general and started getting into teaching ESL so went with Japanese history...once I got into it I REALLY got into it.. My focus was modern history starting from the end of the Edo period to now.. so Meiji and WII pretty much...

they really aren't. its really obvious when i just shuffle listen through the kid cudi file.

the dream time machine, efflictim and teleport 2 me are some of the best songs he's ever made and would fit in perfectly among his other work.
really the only outlier is the WDYSLN cover.

i think a lot of people forget that Dot has been there from day 1. he made Day N Nite. so this is really a back to basics thing for Cudi.
Even the songs Dot and CuDi did previously sound nothing like WZRD, aren't even thematically similar, don't have the same song formats, etc.

There's literally little to nothing that's actually similar about their previous work and WZRD, I don't know how your seeing this otherwise. Recon said it best, nothing is really similar at all besides simple lyricism.

I sold a Mariners jersey to Macklemore once. I think it was the one he wore in the video for the Dave Niehaus tribute song.

I feel like I am the only who remotely gives a shit about him on these boards. Wings was such a fucking great video/track.

I realize MOTM2 is not as good as MOTM1 but it had some great tracks. Marijuana, Mojo So Dope, Wild'd Cuz I'm Young, Trapped in My Mind.

That said, giving WZRD a few more listens and it's definitely growing on me.

So serious question. If someone had shot Cudi right after MOTM1 came out, and then his good unreleased stuff came out as a posthumous do you think he'd be considered classic (at some point, even if not right now)?

Just because something grows on you doesnt make it good. Genital Warts is a prime example.

There are 3 things Gaf Hop can count on. 1. Detox never dropping. 2. Andre 3k never doing anything of note.3. Jay Electronica never putting out an album.

What would happen if those 3 formed a super group?

Wild'd Cuz I'm Young, Trapped in My Mind.

Wild'd Cuz I'm Young

I'm a Cudi fan, but there is no defense for how objectively bad Wild'n Cuz I'm young is.

I'd rather keep giving Dre chances than keep giving Sega any. Opposite kinds of track records they've got going for themselves.
Oh but capcom gets all the chances they can have right?

HEY GUIES GOOD NEWS.

ULTIMATE SUPER GREAT MvC3 coming 2012. Still no mega man, oh but here, have some more lost planet, cuz we know how much you love that.

I bought SF4 when it first dropped. I thought it was going to be a great era for Capcom. Then they became retarded. I no longer game on consoles, but if I did, I would be boycotting Capcom and EA. As is, I still boycott EA/Origin.

Shit just got personal. There's no Lost Planet in Mahvel, btw.

Capcom still delivers every time though. They're on the Dre side of things, tease you like a bitch, mistreat you as a fan, but when they come through, oh they come through.

EDIT: Except for AE.

Don't talk to me about MML. Those rabies-infested fans invaded Mahvel threads for months just to complain about something Megaman-related or another, even after Mahvel's devs threw in countless nods to their company mascot. So I have a personal vendetta.

I should've probably clarified, only their fighting game division. Every other game they make is pure unfiltered shit.

Rap-up apparently posted this for a little while before yanking it down.

B.o.B has a big surprise in store on his upcoming album. The hip-hop superstar has landed America’s sweetheart Taylor Swift for a super-sized collaboration.

Rap-Up.com has learned that the two have joined forces on a Dr. Luke-produced record set to appear on B.o.B’s sophomore album Strange Clouds, due May 1. When pressed for details, the Atlanta MC remained tight-lipped.

“I can’t discredit nor confirm the rumor,” he coyly responded, adding, “Once it’s began, it’s begun and it will take its course.”

B.o.B first met the country crooner when she invited him to perform “Airplanes” with her last fall. “She actually got my number from Hayley [Williams of Paramore] and she hit me up and was like, ‘Hey Bob, I know this is kind of random, but it’s Taylor Swift,’” he said. “So I’m like, ‘What?’ ‘Yeah, I’m coming out to Atlanta and I hear you’re gonna be in Atlanta and I wanna bring you out.’”

While he reluctantly had to turn down the initial offer due a previously booked gig, they ended up rescheduling for a later date in Dallas. “We did it and it was great. She’s got die-hard fans. And she’s really connected to her audience. So to be able to come out and feel that excitement and know that her fans appreciate my music as well was definitely surprising.”

Since sharing the stage at Cowboys Stadium, the two have struck up a friendship. “She’s America’s sweetheart, a real genuine person,” he shared.

Swift, who brought out Nicki Minaj, Flo Rida, T.I., and Usher at other shows during her “Speak Now” tour, knows her hip-hop. “She’s up on her game,” said Bobby Ray. “She knows what to listen to. She’s got good taste in hip-hop music.”

In addition to Swift, Strange Clouds will include contributions from Lil Wayne, André 3000, T.I., Jim Jonsin, Polow Da Don, and more.

My body is ready.

Where'd you get your username? When I was 13 I was into gangs and stuff(stupid i know), figured the mob would be my alias online.......I fell out of love with it but kept it still.
Age? 21
Where do you live? Killer Cali
Where are you from? Cali/Ohio
How'd you end up where you are? Dad got a job in Cali, we moved out here and I got stuck here ever since.
First Hip Hop Album? First one I bought? Lupe Fiasco's Food and Liquor
Top 5 movies? Lords of the Rings: Two Towers, Any old Jackie Chan movie, Dark Knight, Inception, The Matrix. Admittedly I don't watch movies as much as others anymore.
Top 5 Video games? Zelda: Majoras Mask, Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike, Super Mario 64, Final Fantasy 8.
What did you read last? Atlas Shrugged, absurdly long, the book could have been cut in half and it would have been just as good. Had like 500 pages of filler.
What did you watch last? Real Steal............It was awful.
Favorite non hip hop album? Take Care, Take Care, Take Care. Outside of Hip-hop i'm into more instrumental rock music and epic movie soundtracks.
Favorite Drink? Sober for 21 years :p I'll take a nice glass of pomegranate green tea thank you.
Play any sports? Just basketball, was never in any great shape to play in a league/school team.
How was your high school life? Decent, had many "opportunities" and I regret ducking out on them.
Bad habits? Procrastinate on everythangggggggggggggg
Employment? Give me a job.

If you could slap one artist in the face with a sock filled with quarters? Gucci, but from the look of his face somebody beat me to it.

Other threads you frequent? NFL-Gaf, NBA-Gaf, Gaf-Hop.
Threads you avoid like the plague? Ponies, Any pop music related threads. And any controversial political or religious thread. I always have strong opinions about something in those threads and usually they are just ban bait all over.
Most significant hip hop album to you (note not best or greatest, just most significant)? Lupe Fiasco's Food And Liquor. Prior to this album I only listened to "radio" hip-hop. After F&L I went on a shopping spree to find all the old "classic" albums and I read up on all the hip-hop beefs and any other need to know info about hip-hop. Yeah my rap knowledge may not be as deep as some others here but I learnt quick.
Best thing about hip hop? Impossible to answer. I would have to say the lyrical poetry rappers be spittin. The amount of songs I can repeat from top to bottom is ridiculous.
Worst thing? The bad rappers
Shittiest thing you've ever done? Nothing really stands out to me, maybe im just boring :(

I am now 100% convinced Andre 3000 is just trying to reach Bun B cosignee status because he can't do anything else with his career anymore.

*daps*

I run Team Iron and the Fist: Iron Fist/Ryu/Iron Man.

That's my team too, yo. Except, Akuma instead of Ryu. And I love me some Chain Rider.

But, you know what? The 3K hate is out of hand here. The dude just sort of got sick of being the best, so he's semi-retired. He just didn't suck his own dick for 3 years talking about that shit. He does an occasional guest verse, and that's it. At least he's still not trying to put out albums that he doesn't want to put out, or trying to jack every young cat's style like Jigga.

Whats up GAF-Hop

I'm a hip-hop/rap noob. Never was really into rap at all, but recently I've found myself listening to and enjoying rap more than most of the other stuff I listen to.

I started with a few Wu-Tang Clan tracks, and from there started listening to a lot of Biggie (who I really like). I listened to loved Illmatic, which led me to Jay Z who I never really liked before but I've been listening to a lot of his stuff. Started listening to some Kanye, and then recently discovered Nujabes who I became addicted too.

I basically had to find all this stuff by myself (with the help of the internet of course) as my friends rarely listen to rap, and when they do it's stuff I hate.

Anyway, just wanted to say what's up, and I figure this is the perfect place to learn more stuff.
