Can anyone recommend a great Korean BBQ place along the lines of Gyu Kaku. I would be eating there more often if its didn't cost so much for us guys living in the burbs. The food is awesome but the parking prices and shit is killing it for me.

Any of you guys doing the Shamrock Shuffle next month?

Gyu Kaku isn't worth it; you can get much better Asian food elsewhere.

Which suburb do you live in? There's Woolaeoak in Rolling Meadows, Woo Chon in Rogers Park, and Woori Village (all you can eat plus Naengmyun!) in Niles. A bunch of us mentioned other ones a page or two back like San Soo Gab San, Solga and Chosunok which are closer to the city.

Thanks for the reply. Way out west in Kane county inSt Charles. I'll try the one in Rolling Meadows and Niles first.

I went to the Bean light show yesterday, It was not worth going, way to many people. I saw more shadows than lights if anything.

I had a really good time at San So Gab San this weekend, highly recommended.

I might go to BBU Thursday to catch ShowYouSuck. If you are into rap he is the best in Chitown IMO!

God i shouldn't have taken my camaro out of storage last week. I'm trying to work from home otherwise i get to attempt to drive from aurora to lombard in a rwd car with summer tires. Huzzah.

Any other day would've been fine to work from home but of course they need me there today

Edit: Yep, my cul-de-sac wasn't plowed so I got stuck right outside my driveway, took me an hour to shovel a path to get it back in the garage. Sick day.

I feel the exact same way, so many people I graduated with are trying to leave too. 1 year without the illusion of school and no job just made me look elsewhere. But I can't wait to visit.
I would put Roger's Park up there with the end of the Greenline going south with how sketchy it looks.

So far my plans are - Italian Beef at Al's, Maxwell Street for Polish, I think we are skipping the deep dish. What else should I hit? Last stop will either be La Pasadita or Chinatown.

If you are into the bar scene at all, get him up North somewhere. Hopleaf, maybe? Also, if you want to take him to some other Chicago experiences, you could do somthing like Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind, conveniently around the corner from the Hopleaf.

I think Quartino is really good for Italian Tapas, something we don't have in LA really.

I personally really liked Hot Doug's as well. If he's into tortas XOCO by Rick Bayless is great too, despite us having great Mexican food in LA we don't have refined gourmet tortas cooked in a wood fired oven.

Any suggestions for deep-dish pizza? I'm willing to travel for it. Recs for cheap eats are very welcome too, including good breakfast places.

Also, my itinerary is hilariously food-focused. Any non-food things that are must-dos?
