Then in that case, One Piece Musou is still the 4th best selling PS3 game of all time in Japan right now. :p

Hot Shots Golf 5 probably *just* sold over 655k by Media Create numbers, but we don't actually know since the last LTD sighting on the charts was 20k (which would not bring it over One Piece Musou).
Well, I never said your ranking was wrong!

Hunter of Monsters - Vita exclusive. Developed by Gameloft, published by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan.

Dipping to Alien vs Hunter and Transmorphers levels?

I'd probably buy that game just for Sony's sheer chutzpah if they did something like that.

And not one of them will be a series thats exclusive to vita
I don't think that's a problem, multiplatform games would be much worse.

If they are bringing a new Super Robot Wars, it could be SRWOG2, now multiplatform with PS3. I mean, when was the last time we heard about it?

And Phantasy Star too, I don't see Sega doing a big-budget game exclusive to Vita. Maybe multi with PSP/PS3?

Of course, there could be more announcements, those are just a few rumors. We won't have to wait much longer now. :)

Sony should just announce a Monster Hunter game for Vita, even if there isn't one. Just because.

I'm sure something like that's happened before. Maybe Resident Evil Portable?

I'm sure there was something that was announced in a way that was news to those who'd be making it.

I've never heard about this before, do you have any source to this? Would be interesting to read :)

Canceled games are something very different however. Nintendo announced an Assassins Creed game for the 3DS at E3 2010, which is more recent than PSP Resident Evil. I think that both of these games were planned by Ubisoft and Capcom respectively.

Those Vita numbers are scary. I hope Sony take a page from Nintendo's book and announce some blockbuster games this Friday.

I think both games never went cancelled, since they never existed in the first place.

Actually it goes like this:

FFXIII
Resident Evil 5 (This takes adding the edition with extra content, not just a budget rerelease.)
MG4
Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds (Maybe there's newer data or MC is different, but as of the end of 2010 this and its rerelease were at about 570K on Famitsu.)
FFXIII-2
Gran Turismo 5 (Again perhaps an update/tracker change would make a difference, but it seems like even adding GT5 and GT5 Spec II on Famitsu it would fall a little short.)
One Piece

I think.

The Wii still sells big franchise software. Just look at Rhythm Tengoku
Yeah, that a PS3 game can be big doesn't make the Wii disappear. One Piece makes it so each platform has had three new 500+K games in the last year.

cvxfreak says Resident Evil Portable became Revelations on 3DS. And apparently they did cancel Assassin's Creed 3DS, and gutted all the story development and setting to put into Revelations instead.

The use of the word revelations to describe bothe games threw me for a second!

Can we say without any doubt RE:R will pass the 300K ?

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D left the Top 20 with 89,038 units sold and ended up selling 153,493.

I don't expect Resident Evil: Revelations to have the same legs but 300k seems reachable.

AC 3DS' concept was turned into AC Revelations, though no actual development work was done on the 3DS game.

According to cvxfreak, RE PSP's concept was turned into RE Revelations, though no actual development work was done on the PSP game.

That may well be what I was thinking about, then. So Capcom *were* intending to do it, but they changed their mind.

It should do it quite comfortably, might take a while but it will

As far as I remember, AC on 3DS was no more than some concept ideas; or at least this is what I got from the interview to Darby McDevitt. I mean, they announced the game in June 2010, and they cancelled it two months later... How many much work could they put on it? But this is my idea. As for RE on PSP, we don't have any official statement that said anything about the game, just a logo; my idea is that the game never exists.

If there is a concept and then it gets cancelled or moved to another platform, it counts as the concept existing, and that would not be a surprise to the people who would be making the game.

After all the replies were a result of this comment: "I'm sure there was something that was announced in a way that was news to those who'd be making it."

Why does it read like people are going to blow a load when Vita goes <10k? They don't come out and say it directly, but you can tell from all the :lol emotes and eager anticipation. These low sales aren't good for the handheld market and video games in general.

So the concepts existed; the games not :p
I can see concepts a more volatile component than actual development of the game.

GAF always craves a bomb despite the implications as a whole. :/

I dunno, it's pretty funny, especially when Sony is trying to pretend that there is nothing disastrous about the Japan launch. :p

The 3ds is doing fine though so how badly vita is doing is pretty irrelevanr to the state of the market in general

I always assumed that it would mean that Sony would then be forced into lowering the price, so Gaffers can pick it up cheaper.

10k is a sort of psychological threshold, but it is clear that 10.023 units is nothing different than 9801 units; the trend is terrible imo, and there's nothing that could help so far (no price cut announced, weak line-up).

There is a decent amount of this, portable apathy, and Sony hate mixed in from some console warriors.

Though I shouldn't really be talking as I'm on record saying that I won't buy a Vita until it is around one hundred dollars new.

That may be true but what else can we expect them to say? Admitting it's a failure of a launch wouldn't be a very savvy PR move.

Going ahead with a launch with a hardware which isn't very competitive, paired with a poor line-up for the region, and nothing worthwhile on the horizon isn't a very savvy business move either.
