Rumor: Downloadable Expansion To Marvel vs Capcom 3 Possibly Coming [Sven/Seth: No.]

Sounds like a good a deal. If I hadn't already sold mvc3 and not totally given up on fighting game capcom after umvc3 was announced, I would be all over this.

just give me the characters on the Days of Future Past poster and I'll be set

EDIT: Though to be honest this is a good way for Capcom to keep their rights to Marvel active

Semblance

shhh Graham I'm still compiling this Radiant map
Still haven't bought Ultimate, was waiting for $20 or so, then got sidetracked by other games. Guess I'll just hold out for 3X now.

Wonder if it'll merely be additional characters or additional characters with some balance tweaks too, ala AE.

As long as they don't do it like AE (forced people who bought Super to buy the new 4 characters or they'll be screwed out of playing online) then I'm ok with this.

Would people be outraged if a significant DLC update for $15 was released almost nine months after the release of, say, an RPG? Why is this so bad? I'd understand if it was a disc only update.
In fact, were people this outraged about AE?

I don't see why people are getting mad (as a person who's got frequently mad at Capcom as of late). 8 characters for 15 bucks would be a great deal, in fact I can't think of any DLC that's added more hours of content to a game.

Because it fragments the online community.

Hope that helps.

Why are you acting like AE did this? Characters are probably on the disk anyway...

People were outraged with AE because it completely fucked the balance. Don't think it's an exaggeration to say that that update knocked the wind out of SF4's sails, even now that 2012 has managed to correct that.

AE separated the online even further so now for SF4 online we have:

SF4 vanilla: pretty much dead
SSF4: not doing much better than vanilla
SSF4AE: Haven't personally tried it but I hear it's pretty, not as big as vanilla or Super back in their prime since it's another paid expansion, but out of the 3, it's the most populated.

Like I said, if this thing happens, I hope it's a DLC more like Jill/Shuma where you can play against the characters and the people who bought them online rather than separating the online pool AGAIN into a smaller pool with vanilla, Ultimate and now X (or whatever they're gonna call it)

In the end though, $15 for 8 bew guys does indeed sounds too good to be true.

Whatever happened to Capcom saying they wouldn't be pulling this stuff with fighting games this generation? There's a reason everyone got tired of Street Fighter 2 and why Marvel vs Capcom 2 was loved so much.

What does that have to do with anything? Read the post above.

It punishes the people who buy the game on day one or preorder, above everybody else.

You said it fragmented the community when chances are everyone who owns UMVC will still be able to play together. Your other argument is equally invalid as the value of all games depreciates over time. The perk of buying a game day one is that you get to play it from day you, you have a choice if you want to buy it a year later at a reduce price or with more content in a GotY addition.

Thanks to this thread, I just put my Goozex queue on hold. This better be true!

I want more big giant strong characters in the game, especially Juggernaut (please be classic version from the old games and cartoon).

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
I remember a time when I was so hyped for MvsC3 it was crazy that it was finally happened. Congrats on Capcom making me absolutely sick of it within a calendar year.

What? Marvel vs Capcom 2 bombed compared to SF II, it was a broken mess and every inch of depth there was to that game was completely by mistake.

I'd be more inclined to believe this if it were coming in May, alongside the Avengers movie. July 3rd is the same week as the Spider-Man movie, but I'd think Marvel would line up the marketing with the one they have more involvement in.

Spider-Man villain confirmed. :B

Or the Capcom logo. Or the Marvel logo. Or any fine print.

Teaser? And maybe it won't be on Vita? Who knows.

Honestly, even if it turns out to be a hoax, I don't care, I am hyped for dat Mahvel.

Sigh. At this point, I'll just wait for the digital download.
Maybe by then "UMvC3XX for Matching Service" will be announced.

I love how, assuming it's true (which i doubt), people think they won by not buying Ultimate and missing out on potentially 100+ hours of fun and saving a measly $15.

Especially as they basically have to buy Ultimate to get the extra 8 anyways.

This is probably BS. Especially as that X in the centre of the poster has what looks like squiggles drawn in Photoshop around it. And no Capcom logo.

It would be nice though, UMvC3 could do with a small balance patch to buff up certain bad characters like Wright and Hsen-ko.

WTF?!!!

I WAS JUST GETTING SETTLED IN FOR 10 MORE YEARS!

I'm conflicted on whether I want it to be true or not. I can't say I'm too concerned about Capcom greed (signed away my rights to that by buying each version of SF2 for the SNES and even the Genesis one), but let this damn game breathe a little. If it is true, everyone's gonna stop practicing again and wait for the new one.

I want anyone who says they're either glad they didn't buy UMvC3 or regret buying UMvC3 while acknowledging the rumor in question is for a downloadable update to UMvC3 to justify such a position.

Have to agree with those who find this fishy. Besides, didn't Capcpom say that one of the reason UMVC3 was released so early was because their licensing deal with marvel was only for that year?

$15 for 8 characters sounds a little too good to me. I think they charged that much just for 4 characters in AE, and 2 of them were Ryu and Akuma variants.

I'm in if true though. Still play Marvel a lot, and I'd love some fresh characters. Especially if we get a Spidey villain, Mega Man, and some more female heroes like Ms Marvel.

wouldn't that mean UMVC3 is out of print now? cause that's what happened with MVC2...not too many copies printed and they dried up.

This is the reason I will not buy SfxT, even if they said that there is not going to be another edition of the game on disc, I simply don't trust them.
