Yeah, guess so. You can increase your health and ink getting through the stages, so yeah, when you replay the game you get a bit more power.

seems like a cheap way to stretch out the game, thanks for all the help. Think im going to pass on this because 20$ is just too much

So I just picked up Final Fantasy 4 from the sale, and still have 20 to spend on psn. In the mood for some sidescrollers and was thinking about picking up Castlevania Dracula X, and Megaman Mavrick Hunter.

Can anyone tell me how these turned out on PSP, and if they are worth picking up on Vita? If neither is worth it I may go for Tatics Orge instead, but wanted to see if anyone could offer up so advice on these two. I wish PSX games were avalible now so I could just pick up Symphony of the Night, but no luck yet obviously.

Get ultimate ghost and goblins. It's amazingly underrated.

It really is great. Aesthetically the only thing I don't like about it is the horrible CG render of Arthur at the beginning. His beard just looks bad. I mash it away and pretend its not there.

But every level looks great and the controls are nice and tight.

Decided to buy Lumines from PSN because I play it so often and will sell my physical copy. I was worried about the saves from the Card and what would happen, but all is as it were when I had the physical card. All progress still in the bubble, and no difference.

What is wrong with FFIV CC !? , I am trying to install the game and it saus failed, is it because it's already downloaded !?
EDIT: Nevermind about the FFIV problem.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, every time I hit the PS button and get back to any PSP game, it says "The update has been downloaded, want to close this application!?"

What is going on !?

I've also got this one. No idea how to make it go away.

Funny that you mention this now since i actually noticed this myself for the first time earlier tonight, and i've had the Vita since launch :) I was also wondering why the LED is there since it is indeed covered by the flap there.

So you can see LED blinking when you open cover which supposedly stops you from puling game cart from console while something is writing to it ?

So I got MGS:pW and started it yesterday evening just to see what it was like. When it asked if I wanted to install the game data to the mem stick, I chose no since the game was already on the mem card.

However, when Miller was talking to Snake in the beginning of the first mission there was no sound, and the description for the data install said that to get in-game voices it had to be performed. To those who have the game, do I have to install the data to the mem card like it says to get the voices? Or are those sequences without sound? It's going to take up another 800MB if I install...

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Its basically unpacking the sound from compressed archives, so yeah you have to do it to get all the extra sound.

I don't have MGS:pW, but what you describe sounds like your typical hard-coded solution that only considers UMD play. Loading times were probably on the undesirable end when loading everything from the UMD. It is smart of them to give the option, but annoying that they didn't change it for the DD version. Though, if they did, it would probably just be an 800mb increase to the total file size with no install option. No redundant data like with other similar installs.

Install data does help for the DD version, weirdly. Guess data must be compressed as hell.

Me and my cousin was playing, he had a 1000 and install data and I had a Go with no install data, guess who loaded first.

The ending cutscene wasn't in sync because of this :(

It's baffling that they didn't think to change the DD version. For the UMD version I can understand since the game is 1.4GB with all that data compressed and a UMD has 1.8GB. But keeping that data compressed on the DD version ends up using a lot more mem since we then have compressed and uncompressed data at the same time.

They’ve earned it. This thing is impressive in both hardware/software design, graphical muscle, ergonomics, and is really the first device on the market to successfully blend touch/tilt gaming with a thorough button setup. I really hope it does well, I would love to see this sort of device catch on.

Just tried Dungeon Hunter: Alliance as I was craving a loot collecting fest on the Vita. So disappointed by the demo. The loading is still slow, maybe marginally faster than the PS3 game but still slow, and dropped frames left and right. Still craving though...

Yeah, wtf is up with loading time on Vita titles? I downloaded the demo for Modnation Racers and nearly quit the application because it took so freakin' long to load up the first race. Mind you, when I say "so freakin' long", I mean as bad or worse than the pre-patch PS3 version. Totally unacceptable, especially for a handheld. They'll be getting none of my monies.

Got 486,000 on lumines and it didn't even record it....

Make sure you always click "quit" rather than "retry" when you end a session.

I had the same thing happen with a similar score. Apparently it only saves your score if you click quit. If you click retry you lose all progress and then just start from where you died. Lame.

Are the PSP games already optimized or not when you run it? Or is there a setting where you manually set it?

How does Final Fantasy War of the Lions look on the Vita?

Isn't much or any pixel/screen optimized look to it. It's basically PSP version upscaled to the Vita size.

Right-Analog really does wonders. There are times i play Valkyria Chronicles 2 with one hand.

I cant even imagine how tough playing Dissidia without the right analog would even be. Lol

Dissidia wasn't too bad without the extra stick, but man, it just feels so fricking right and natural with it.

I honestly didn't think that mapping the digital or face button to the right analog stick for PSP games would make much of a difference, but man, it does.

The 3rd Birthday is another I can't imagine playing with no camera controls. It would be maddening. As it stands, it feels really awesome. I've been loving Square-Enix's handheld outtings this generation. It's a shame their console efforts have been weak as hell (although I do like FFXIII, truth told.

I broke down and bought FF Tactics: War of the Lions today, despite owning the PS1 original disc. It was onlyl $4.89 thanks to PS+, so I couldn't resist. I kind of like it just sitting on my memory card. I'll get to it when I can. I'm working through completing Rayman Origins right now. Loving that game as well.

I think, without a bit of hyperbole and PlayStation fanboyism (I'm totally a big PS fan), I can say that the Vita is the best portable gaming system I've every played/owned. It's not perfect, and I can't wait to see what the firmware improvements add to it, but for a system that hasn't even been out in the US a month yet, it's been the best handheld experience I've had in a long, long time, if not ever.

Tried a teachers Vita today and maybe it's because I've used my ipad daily, the screen didn't impress me that much. I played Rayman and SSD so it might affect my feelings because I've played both games on PS3 (well stardust is almost the same). Definately a good screen and destroys the 3DS, but damn if the retina ipad won't beat all mobile devices handily.

Otherwise it felt like a bigger PSP. The sticks were ridiculously small and I'd almost prefer two sliders instead.

Just give us bigger memory cards and I'll bite just for the psp titles.

Froze twice so far, once last night and once this morning.

I remember reading briefly about unit 13 and freezing issues.

Am I supposed to updated something? The vita update says the software is up to date and my unit 13 space refresh doesn't indicated any update is needed.

Any links provided would be appreciated.

Oh and I hate the placement of the Select/Start Buttons.

Anyone else hate the select and start buttons? I love the system but those buttons are just so small and hard to press...

It does annoy me. But the start and select buttons on the 3DS are no better. I have to feel around just right to figure out where to press. You can't press the edges of the buttons, has to be near the center. Eventually you can get the hang of it but it still irritates me.

Tried the iPad 3 today and maybe cause I use my computer daily, the screen didn't impress me much compared to my 4k resolution monitor. Damn if it doesn't beat all mobile devices easily.

Wow, that is some incredibly awful design. I have no idea how things like that end up in final products.

And yeah if I have one complaint about the system, the Select/Start buttons are not very good.

You can also press the PS button or the power button to pause the game.

Yeah but hitting select to sort items in monster hunter is a pain in the ass, i have to pretty much stop what I am doing and move my right hand away from the vita to then press the select button.

Playing Monster Hunter has always been an exercise in hand yoga, but I do agree, with the amount of frequency you need to use the start and select buttons, the way the vita's buttons are flush would get annoying.
