I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
I was officially out of space on my shelf, and my tiny room means there's no opportunity to put up another shelf. So, I re-arranged and put more games in the garage with their older siblings ;p Moving is gonna be a pain in the ass at some point.

More info on that 'Future Disco' album you have streaming... I think I can barely make out 'Toby Tobias' so it sounds like something I'd be seriously into. <3 Nu-disco

Just so you know, I have a folder on my PC that is nothing but saved images of people's houses, gamespaces or workspaces that I think look awesome.

When I'm moving later this year, I will combine all of them into the one home to rule them all.

Chittagong, if you don't mind me asking, how much is place like that to buy? Looking to move to London myself

Just in awe of your setup, well done!

A good rule of thumb is to look at the weekly rent of a flat in the area and multiply by 1000, that gives you a pretty accurate idea of what flats cost to buy. Generally if you can afford to rent, you can afford to buy, you might even end up saving.

The key thing to keep in mind when looking for a flat in London is security. This is not intuitive when moving from somewhere else. Never pick a dodgy street, and NEVER ever accept ground floor or any level with easy forced entry however tempting the price. It's a value trap and very stressful.

Decide in this order and you will be fine

Security > Area > Floor plan > Size > Condition

To be honest I like your 2011 TV stand better. I'm guessing you ran out of space though?

Really? The old stand was custom made for the 50" Sony rear projection tv. The new one has so much more space for the new 55" Sony LED, for my stuff, AND looks real classy!

It's great looking at your setups and congrats to those who have kids that can manage it.
I still have fond memories of my boudoir and audi S3 but now it's a renault scenic with a living space surrounded by blu-tack, crayon drawings, batman, starwars and little girl kitchens.

Still rocking the 360 HD-DVD drive, huh? :p

Yup, still got a stack of cheap movies from when Amazon were selling them for like $3 a piece

The track is 'Schoon' by Toby Tobias, real smooth. The album I don't know much about, since its streaming from pandora. If its any help, the pandora station is 'Lovebirds' which is one of my favorite deep house artists ever.
*update* the 'Future Disco: Guide to 21st Century Disco' compilation doesn't even have that track on it according to amazon! geez....

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
I love the green!

As someone who happily lived in Elephant & Castle/Borough for 3 years this advice makes me laugh.

Nothing has changed since 6 months. Xbox is out of view, but of course you can always hear it when it's on....

I love the green!

Love the use of green Donkey. Great setup.

Nice, it really looks welcoming/warm something I miss in some "ikea" rooms.

Thanks guys! I have to thank the wife for rocking the green motif in here. When I had started building our existing furniture again in this room, the colors just fit immediately so we definitely lucked out without having to get anything new.

Finally got all my shit unpacked at my new house after 2 weeks, lol. Finished up the living room yesterday and it came out alright.

My original plan for my living room was white+green+brown, and the green I was thinking was pretty much exactly that green. So, I definitely approve of the colors!

Finally finished with our London City setup. Tabris has been urging me to post pictures, so got around taking some this weekend with some loaner lenses and tripod.

We bought the flat in April 2011 and renovated it fully it through the summer until August. We redid every room, built in more storage, integrated cabling and overall just improved the aesthetics. A pretty stressful process I hope I don't have to repeat any time soon.

Our build philosophy was to create a highly functional space with everything non-essential out of sight, so we can fully immerse on whatever we are doing - gaming, reading, working, watching films. We have maximized storage space and integrated a lot of connectivity and lighting. We also wanted to design a space that feels casual enough to be inviting, rather than overly polished.

Wonderfully clean and Scandinavian minimalism. Bit surprised I didn't see any Finnish designers represented - despite some of their signature pieces being almost too recognisable, if you ask me...

Glad to see that I'm not the only fan of Nelly Duff! Actually picked up another Patrick Thomas print a few weeks ago. Seeing how you seem to be focusing on lithos/prints, did you go to the print sale held at Somerset House just a couple of weeks ago?

To summarise: kick ass flat! Congrats.

Just bought a 40" Samsung TV for my bedroom and completely redid my setup over the weekend. Apologies for the low quality iPhone 3G photos...

I don't have photos of the previous arrangement handy, but this is an enormous improvement. My old desk had a leg that was falling off. I didn't have the speakers mounted. The mini-dresser was on the floor with an old 20 inch CRT. Still waiting on an active displayport to DVI adapter for proper triple monitor support and extension cables for six channel analog audio from the PC to the receiver, but I already love the new setup. The TV swivels enough for a good view from the bed or my recliner.

Thanks! Yep, the Aalto stools customised by Morag Myerscough and the white Muurame cabinets are the only Finnish furniture at the moment. We had the Aalto table and chairs, but they needed their third refurb which costs almost as much as new ones, so we shipped them back to my mom and got new for a change. I'm sure we'll have them one day back again, they are already 40 years old anyway.

Pick Me Up was amazing, including the Nelly Duff booth. Loved the black caged Anthony Burril gold foil poster. Heard a new Eine print is coming in the next few weeks by the way.

Another year, and nothing has changed. This will be the last year I post my current setup though. Our house is on the market so someone else will inherit it.

I will have a new, Version 2.0, in my new house ready for next year's thread.

This is where I game..

Some really nice setups in here. Our living room setup is getting pretty oudated (720p/1080i plasma is the biggest offender), but here you go:

plasma_setup.jpg

The speakers are from now defunct and extremely shady company AV123 before they died, but I got the X-Statik 5.1 set for dirt cheap, and they sound amazing (even in that room that as you can see has a lot of tile). Their 15" sub is a piece of junk, though, with one of the most faulty, noisy amps I've ever heard (even after 2 replacements), so for now, I'm just running a $200 Polk 12", which is more than enough for that room.

Pardon all the wires. I'm too lazy for good cable management. Stands were from Best Buy. Not perfectly matched color-wise, but they complement the room nicely. I particularly like the brushed metal accents on the TV stand, which mate up to the plasma stand.

Pioneer Elite receiver, Panasonic DVD, and requisite consoles (Wii is in another room).

Ion kit for Rock Band/Band Hero w/ the Rock Pedal off to the side there (all of it is awesome except for the cymbals, which leave a lot to be desired).

Dog bed for our loving Rottie in the lower-right. :)

I paid good money for this Dynex!
I remember wanting the X-Statix speakers, back when they were still around. Naturally, I had no money with which to buy them back then. Shit must sound pretty mint.

Thanks... they're a huge improvement over the small B&W CDM-1NT speakers we had before, which I was just never happy with. The B&Ws had a nicer finish, but the room is rarely ever bright enough to notice.

Also, we have a fireplace off to the right, so that's why the front right speaker is so close to the TV... if I could move it out more for a wider front soundstage, I would!

Which amp do you have in the mfw15, version 1, 2, or 3? The version 3 amp is reputed to be solid, but still really prone to ground loop noise. If you got a 1 or 2, it could be any number of faults. They're ticking time bombs and are generally better off trashed. If it's a 3.0 though ground loop is a high probability culprit that's easily fixable.
