Wii U Speculation Thread The Third: Casting Dreams in The Castle of Miyamoto

I expect a tease at the beginning of the E3 presentation like the following

A video starts with all this hip mumbo jumbo centered around Wii U and 3DS being the future. After a minute or so Miyamoto walks up on the stage and shows a slightly modified Wii U pad and we see on the big screen he’s drawn something on it. It’s starting to move and a Pikmin pops out. The Pikmin starts to wave at the crowd and will walk of screen getting a a little card showing the line “It’s almost here”. With a huge grin Miyamoto will walk of the stage and assures everyone that the wait is almost over.

And they'll talk about 3DS first :p

ViviTouch isn't going to make it's way into the Wii U controller or anything, but it's possible they'll try to make some sort of 3rd party add-on with it. Maybe they could use the headphone jack or something for the input.

Sorry?

Edit: It's a link that's public. What's the problem?
It's public because usually, nobody would bother to check that site. Which is why that company has no problem posting confidential information on their website. Once someone links that information on GAF, it'll spread, picked up by the likes of Go Nintendo, gets attention, Nintendo notices, writes the company an angry letter, and another source is dead. Happened more than once.

I don't think there has to be a new mascot. They have plenty, I just feel like they should start reaching out to other types of "adventures".

Not talking about Nintendo making a COD game or anything, but something that appeals to a different demo than their franchises in general.

They tried it with Metroid, but I also don't feel like that was the right way to do it.

Can anyone list all the new IP's Nintendo has either published or created on the Wii?

Madagascar joke, don't blame you if you don't get it. Bad movie.

I think expecting even a tease of Super Smash Bros next is a bit too much. I doubt they've even begun to brainstorm about it considering that Sakurai just finished KI:U.

Like others have been saying, Retro's game will be the ball-busting, bowel-shattering, pants-shrinking, jaw-dropping, tear-inducing masterpiece that we expect to be revealed.

Probably not comprehensive:

Xenoblade Chronicles
Disaster: Day of Crisis
The Last Story
Pandora's Tower
Captain Rainbow
Zangeki no Reginleiv
Tact of Magic
Wii ____ games
Line Attack Heroes
Endless Ocean
Flingsmash
Pokepark

Well I did like the EXCITE series. Though they probably didnt light up the charts and were regionally handicapped.

I think Disaster could have been Wii's Uncharted. But it was left out hung to dry.
Project Hammer got people excited, but it was left out in the cold.
Xenoblade, Last Story, Pandora's Tower, and a few others were sorely mishandled.

There are some more interesting things in this document I am reading right now.

As of Late March 2012:
Easy ports to Wii U from other systems and Wii U supports all the features.
Engine was just optimized and is now seeing 3x to 4x performance boost and sometimes better than that.
still no full audio support on the uMote (aka DRC)

Is it a credible source?

Don't see why it wouldn't be. It appears to be mostly audio related though.

I too have the particular document that you have. What I find most interesting is that the document consistently references XBOX360 but when it comes to the performances section it only compares it to Xbox (most interesting) and not Xbox360.

Exactly. I made a list some day ago about Nintendo related events in April: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=36529045&postcount=12626

While I don't know if it would help much, perhaps AceBandage could post an event list in the OP. I see questions about when news will come quite frequently. There's the countdown for E3 of course, but seeing as we really have to dig through SEC filings and hard to find documents etc. to gather Wii U info, more could be nice.

It's really not necessary. If we don't get new Wii U info at the investor meeting on the 26th, we won't get any until E3. All those events are pretty much irrelevant for potential Wii U info.

I wonder why Nintendo is so incredibly silent and if the silence is actually helping them, by building hype and let peoples imaginations go wild etc, or if it's hurting them since not all rumors are positive. I'll go crazy if they decide to leave something out at E3 to show closer to launch at TGS instead.

It's totally audio related.

and I think I had misread part of it.

The engine saw optimizations and saw a 3x to 4x performance boost, sometimes better. It didn't specifically say 3x to 4x over Xbox(360).

It doesn't say that at all.
I just went back to correct myself. text was small, it's early in the morning and I was reading it fast.

I wanted to make that correction before it got spread around.

It would make sense for the audio to be quite a step ahead of the 360, considering it has its own pipeline for it.
Also, finally Nintendo steps into Dolby Digital, but still just 5.1.
=/

They're silent because they can be. It doesn't matter, this early on, how much they say. They'll blow out the information at E3, a giant event that the gaming and 'real' media both focus on, and people will be happy(er).

Nintendo used DD for Wii and Gamecube. I remember seeing the logo multiple times when booting up a game.

People goes wild indeed. But they are basically debating on nothing. CPU, GPU, Xx's X360s, Pikmins... That's all people have for the moment but it's something that really doesn't matter. Look at the Wii, look at the ps2, look at the psone, look at DS... Each of those systems were the most successfull ones, and the less powerfull ones. People can debate and announcing "I don't want a Wii U if <3.2X360s" as long as they want but Nintendo's concern is only to deliver games at E3.
