Media Create Sales: Week 15, 2012 (Apr 09 - Apr 15)

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Fire Emblem appears to have a great opening with high sellthrough at many retailers. If Nintendo can keep the supply it will have a big (relative to past entries) first week.

Code of Princess is distant second but with good sales.

YEAH!

Yay!
Really happy for both.

The former seems a pretty serious effort in a series that during the last years was not considered as it should have been.

The latter, instead, shows how 3DS is an healthy platform even for new IPs and experiments of this kind, like Senran Kagura. Waiting for the numbers, though!

you forgot the Soul Sacrifice unveiling on May 10

Just because the unveiling of two games from the, currently, biggest third party franchise in Japan for the 3DS gave it a minor bump, it doesn't mean the same will happen for every single new game announced for every platform.

Not to mention the fact that one of those games came three months later very close to two equally huge games. Vita's situation definitely needs more than an announcement.

I wonder if Sony should have launched Vita late this year instead.

This.
Furthermore, Capcom started to advertise MH3G soon after the announcement, so the bump made sense. But people expected PD announcement on PSVita giving a bump during last week, which is totally unreasonable.

Apparently it's not fun when there's only one notable release.

If there's only one big release, I'm fine with that, personally. :)

What about doing monthly software prediction results? That would be much easier to avoid sub-50K titles that way. Results would be like 6 weeks after the predictions closed, though, so that would be a drawback.

The success of FE makes me so happy. I wonder if the Monster Hunter base is buying into this series. Would be awesome for Nintendo.

Those games have absolutely nothing to do with each other so I doubt that's the reason. Nintendo just did a good job hyping this one up as an important game, having high production value probably helped.

You have to look at the demographic of the customers. MH is still by and large a mid-high school sensation, and the same kind of kids were the ones buying those anime tie in / light novel inspired games. This time they went from a more archaic art style to an artist with far more modern looking characters -- more stylish, less 'we got characters out of a Sword World resource book' feel. Tvcm is voiced by Sugita, who has a strong fan base of both male and female fans. They marketed this to hit the monhun/KH type fan base that would not have touched a less contemporary release, and musings from places like Maya reflect that.

Good point, didn't think of it that way.

Heavy, instead of your usual whining, why don't you try adding to the discussion? You're no better than the people you're carrying on about. Hell, you're worse since I've never seen Alberto act the way you imply. It's annoying as hell.

Yes, I know that I'm annoying to people here as well, but my point stands.

What flying elephants, now I've seen everything.

Code of Princess putting up good numbers would make me selfishly happy. I'm a huge fan of Guardian Heroes and I've got a copy of CoP on the way from AmiAmi as I type this. My J-3DS is going to be getting far more love and attention from me than my US 3DS for the forseeable future.

I really hope Code of Princess does exceptionally well for Agatsuma. Looks like quite a gamble from a publisher and developer usually doing educational titles for little children, and it seems to be a rather ambitious project with lots of content and features. Effort needs to be rewarded.

I'm thinking about it, and I have no idea how Black/White 2 is going to sell. Is it going to follow the footsteps of third version games? Or closer to B/W by virtue of technically being a sequel? Somewhere in between?

Anyone wanna help me out on this?

What kind of game is CoP?? I haven't read about it, so i know next to nothing D:.
Sidescrolling ARPG with elements from Guardian Heroes (same core design team), mission based, tons of characters, loot, with local and online coop and versus modes. The most interesting thing about the game is probably that it was developed and published by a very small company that has been around for ages, but like I wrote, they used to do edutainment stuff for young children. They also developed shovelware for western publishers like Ubisoft. I guess they realized titles like that wouldn't cut it anymore, so they contracted a few veterans from Treasure and Capcom to do this game.

We discussed it some last thread, so that might help.

Preorders for Black/White 2 started 1 month earlier than Black/White and without warning.

Maybe we'll have a new record for preorders.

Black/White is at almost 5.5m and still charting around the Top 30 in MC. This is almost a Capcom type move (MHP2 -> MHP2G) to release the next game in the series when the first is still hanging around. I guess the DS already being past its end point is pushing it up more than they'd do otherwise. Still, a very interesting situation: first real "sequel" in the series, released on a "dead" platform (will test impact of BC), and closest launch to previous mainline (not including remakes) all for a multi-million selling series. Lots of variables here. Will maybe see just how much "power" Pokemon really has.
The huge inactive userbase DS has right now is beneficial only to mega sellers. I don't see a scenario B/W 2 underperforms. It won't hit 5 million but 4+ million should be a lock.

Maybe GameFreak will give the sales target. With Black/White they expected Diamond/Pearl sales and they achieved it.

Hmm i see, i only played one guardian heroes and it seemed enjoyable. Doubt i'd buy this, but hey, the more games do good the better for everybody, so here's hoping!

Sure thing, Chris! It'll be so fun to see it go below 8k. We can invite Ace and Alberto as well. If it ever goes sub 5k I might blow the biggest load of my life. Can't wait!

I'm flattered, but you seriously have to stop running around in different threads and mentioning me. I'm not the kind of guy that is going to fall in love with you just because you pay so much attention to me.

Oh God, so good.

Has it really come to this? Will Vita soon only be sold behind beaded curtains to dudes wearing trenchcoats?

Well in his defense Conan does come across as being a bit slutty.
