So I bought a Rogers Lumia 900, unlocked it, and then my friend offered to buy it for $50 more than I'd spent on it. I obviously sold it to her, and now they've been constantly sold out for a week and a half. FML. I have no phone so I need one ASAP.

Looking at Rogers' selection, my alternatives are the Sony Experia S ($500) and the HTC One X ($625). I'm looking for whichever one has less problems (defects mainly, as I'll lose the ability to return once I've unlocked it) and is easier to unlock. Unless I can find another Lumia 900 I'm gonna get one of these two.

Both look absolutely awesome, but I don't know much (aka nothing) about android. I keep reading about warping problems or something on the One X. I'm not sure how if that's bad or not but I'd kinda like to know what that's about. I also kinda wanna get rid of the Rogers bloatware on whichever device I choose, as I'm using the device on a different carrier. Is that possible?

Based you what you want (rooting) I'd get the One X. The Xperia S isn't directly rootable at the moment, and even still, you must unlock the bootloader to to do so. The One X isn't easily rootable either (yet), but you don't need to unlock the bootloader to root it.

This is all gibberish to me. All I really want to know is which ones are unlockable so I can I use them with a different carrier.

Maybe you did answer the question and I'm just too stupid to realize. That'd be awkward.

Ohh. They're both unlockable, they're GSM phones. Thing is, you need an unlock code from Rogers (or Ebay).

ok thats pretty sexy... and just imagine if the adreno wasn't so shit

Yea, I'm actually quite impressed. I used to carry an Inspire for work, and it instilled within me a deep hatred of Sense. This, however, with Sense 4.0, is really pretty nice. You can tell that ICS is in there, with just some slight skinning going on. There really isn't too many awkward menus and all that.

And yes, I can confirm, the screen on the One X is A-MAZ-ING!!! Really sharp, colors look pretty good, and only ever so slight banding in Settings. And the way it's laminated to the glass is great.

Overall, good stuff all around.

Goddamn So good. Theres really no way to lose now, Im really excited, If the S3 delivers I go for that, if its underwhelming, I wont really give a shit because the OneX is here. Fuck yeah.

Plus Im in one of the few areas where Sprints LTE will actually be shortly after launch. Going to likely get their version, I dont expect the rollout to be speedy, but its going to blanket my home area and my work/travel areas so I will be golden. Can't wait.

Circle T works for At&t, if I recall

*shakes fist*

Yup. I work in Finance/Operations for them, but my office is at one of the retail stores. The reps all know that I'm a big tech person, so they always let me know when the new, good stuff comes in.

Guys, the dualcore S4 is not going to be faster than the quadcore tegra. The S4 has A15X2=total 30 combat point, the tegra 3 has 4 A9 core = 36 total combat point. I bet the real world benchmark is faster. ;)

Um... Guys... I think you're forgetting that this phone still has a HTC logo and comes with sense pre-installed, don't let the new shiny hardware, nice camera and pretty screen fool you... it's still a HTC.

I haven't forgotten anything. Been following everything about the phone since it was shown. I had that same attitude until I actually saw it in motion/action. Write it off at your own chagrin, but HTC seems to have done a fantastic job here, even with Sense.

Totally. I can easily say that I don't HATE it like I used to on older phones. I'm not fully sold on the new task switcher, but everything else seems really nice. If you've used stock ICS, it will feel very similar, just with a slightly different look. It isn't a complete cluster-fuck like old Sense was on Froyo/GB.

My verdict of Sense 4.0 on my One S: it's still a little overcooked. Pointlessly changing little details, some stuff they didn't need to add in, but it's good. It won't slow you down. It won't drive you mad. It works well. And it is an improvement.

it's a tegra, it's guaranteed to be slower than the competition

In the latest Galaxy S 3 saga, Amazon Germany leaked a couple specs for the phone. This time 4.7" and a 12MP camera. Still with a microSD slot as well I believe.

dear god, please make somebody release a phone with a good non-pentile 4 inch screen and a 2012 camera and processor/GPU with a good design

Better wait for Medfield. x86 X 2 = 172 combat points.

I don't know that you'll get all 4 of those in a phone anytime soon. The One S is close but it's too bad it didn't use the Super LCD2 screen.

I think most consumers want a 4+ inch phone so something in your size range is becoming the "mid-end" of phones now as consumers realize that more real estate is all good.

The One S is practically 4 inches though, it sounds like it would fit in your skinny jeans and satisfy all your other needs.

Battery size and the pentile screen kill it for me and if I wanted to go that route I'd get the One X anyway. 4 inches is comfortable for one handed use for me, I didn't care much for the Nexus S but that shape and size is my ideal phone.

After the last week using the One S in the pentile screen I can honestly say I don't know what all the fuss is about. Am I blind or something, because I'm not seeing anything different when not using a microscope.

Pentile only make letter (and sharp straight line) less sharp. But the way human brain read words, you can switch the letters around and the brain can still read words. Less sharp letters does nothing to decrease readability.

I can't believe so many people fell for that trick. No it's not like that.

I am tired of arguing this topic. Too simple put all camera sensor use the same BGRG arrangement like pentile because human eyes are more sensitive the green color. You don't know what you are talking about.
