I'm less informed on the 360's successor, but I go back and forth between 2 and 3x on the Wii U. So if your prediction of the 720 is correctish, that'd have it about 2 to 3 x more powerful than the U.
Not nearly the difference we've seen this generation..

The go down to earth to continue there fight; they see dinosaurs roaming around. Goku says " what have we done". They both vanish slowly into thin air, because if the dinosaurs didn't die, Goku was never born and superman wouldn't survive on a hostile planet as a baby.
So they both loose.

Eh, I was thinking PS4 is 7850 and XB3 is 7870. The only way to do better in a console is to go Nvidia, and I don't see MS going back to them.

yeah I erased that cell phone point before but I meant more for Software production for these things if a dev wanted to push the thing to its limits what would the cost of a Durango pushing game be like?

I'm happy. I was at a picnic all day with no reception*, so I'm pretty glad nothing really happened while I was gone. Still, it's pretty wacky to see how much news happened on Day One compared to today's total draught.
* so good… wading in the ocean, BBQ food, stilts, hoops, frisbee, poi, burying a dude in sand, roasting marshmallows, kickball, etc. I sometimes forget that doing things away from the Internet can be really fun!

But PS4 supposedly will have 18CUs underclocked compared to Pitcairn clocks. I feel in the end that the biggest edge Xbox 3 will have is memory.

I tend to wonder if many companies have the budget breathing room to go all-out with taking advantage of these capabilities. This could be the generation where we see this limitation more and more..

Yeah. It's about the only way they would be able to justify the cost, though since it would only be an option that possibly big price tag will expose them to an unpopular situation.
I'd say the power leap is there. It's the Wii U aspect that gets undervalued in a comparison.

All three have already done their own version of nickel & diming. I've heard tons of complaints this generation of Xbox Live's subscription rate, essentially complaining that the superiority of the service doesn't quite justify a "gamer tax" over to the freeness of the other platforms.

Agreed. Seeing the reaction to a choice of $499 or $199 and $15/mo for two years would be something I would be very interested to see from a business standpoint.
i can easily see people doing the monthly payment thing. if microsoft is truly going nuts with specs, it may be a test they're trying with that $99.99 kinect thing.
I kinda wonder.. I've seen lots of "if X or Y or Z happens, I'm going back to PC gaming!" comments over the past few months. So I am curious to see how many folks do follow-through with such statements.

I definitely feel the $99 package is a test. And I agree that the payment option will be the most likely choice. Along with increasing specs, it's pretty much a given they are going to include Kinect with it so they are going to have a tough time keeping the cost down to a reasonable target without a substantial loss. But either way I would like to see how the payment option affects their console margin.

And I've always thought that there are plenty of good comparisons between the world of politics and the world of video games. Party members, the parallel between conventions and conferences going first vs last, press loyalty/neutrality matters, etc.
