How do you know those figures are shipped and not sold? Harada explicitly says SOLD not SHIPPED.
to retailers.

Shipped is as good as sold on their books. How do you know those figures are shipped and not sold? Harada explicitly says SOLD not SHIPPED.
That is what they always say.How do you know those figures are shipped and not sold? Harada explicitly says SOLD not SHIPPED.
I.e. it's just your assumption and you have no proof.
Except NPD, Media Create, and the various European tracker data.
You're not taking his word, you're distorting it.I'm fine with taking Harada's word on it. He doesn't relentlessly troll his consumer base unlike some folks I could mention.
I thought Tekken 6 overshipped to retailers when it came out, and it price bomba'd pretty quick.
I didn't pay full price for mine, and it wasn't that later than when it launched.
You're not taking his word, you're distorting it.
For game makers shipped = sold.
Standard practice. Game makers always say "sold" for shipped, not "shipped". On the rare occasion when they talk about actual sold units they'll clairify "sold through" or "sold to consumers".LOL wut??
Harada's tweet says SOLD not shipped. Even if english isn't his first language I'm sure he knows the difference.
WTF am I distorting???

As long as it's nothing like the Abysmal mess that was Tekken 6
I bought Tekken 6 at $9, played it for 30 mins, saw it for what it was, then just returned it to a different store and got 10$ for it.
I'm a business man.

So...SC5 didn't bomb according to what they wanted to sell?

You new to Sales-Age or something?
TTT2 will sell 2 million easy.
Non-American casual gamers love Tekken games. Mainly in Asia
But yeah, Tekken 6 was godawful.
Yeah it seems that Tekken is the soccer (Fútbol) of the fighting game community.
If you want to play that game, I can also claim that those numbers don't include the GOD Tekken 6 sales either.
Outside of loading and saving in T6 I don't see how it was bad at all... And even then it's not that bad.
I challenge you to come up with one compelling argument as to why Tekken 6 is "an abysmal mess".
.
* It seemed that they tweaked the combat system a bit more than I was used to, I saw long ass combos before in tekken, I mean I mained King and Armor king and could pull off some of his more complicated grapples on a pretty consistent basis. The focus tended to be more on longer juggle combos and there were certain characters that I faced online that exploited this to a rediculous extent.
The netcode was a step back from Tekken 5 DR.
The game was visually dark and muddy. The backgrounds were in bad taste. The netcode was a step back from Tekken 5 DR. The game was unplayable the first two weeks after release. The end boss was silly. The combat system went even more juggle heavy. It is the worse Tekken to date.
With that said I still prefer it over Street Fighter 4.
If the online is good at launch then sure. I can see it doing 500k in Japan alone.
t's pretty interesting how so many people like to discredit Tekken. They claim the sales figures are distorted, and once they're proven wrong they challenge the integrity of the game. When I ask them for an argument they stay quiet.
No, just no. I played a lot of DRO and T6 post patch was fucking heaven compared to that shit.
3.1m is just the 360/PS3 SF4. Doesn't include PC sales.
Are the T6 numbers consoles only or do they include PSP too?
Tekken 6 obviously made money for them. I wonder how successful it was revenue wise.
Post patch lol The fist month was a living hell.

These are all just personal opinions, Like i said I loved everything about Tekken 5 and the other iterations of T5 but they kind of went off in a strange way with T6

*The arcade mode is 100% pure garbage, Was this supposed to be a beat em up? it's so horribly clunky and boring, It's a half assed waste of time. Forcing my to play this awful mode to unlock content for my favorite characters? yeah fuck that.
*The online was ass pure and simple, LAG on everything and everyone, it's so inconsistent with its matches you never know when it's just going to fuck up your match.
*Load times EVERYWHERE long as load times for everything. The backgrounds dont even have very complex textures, why does it take so long to load!?
combined it really made it feel like a chore to play, I never had as much fun as I did play T5
Tekken 6 probably made more money in arcades than it did on consoles. Especially when you consider the price of the T6 cabinet and the fact that it was around for 2 years before the home version was released.
I don't know if you know this, but does Namco ever release data about arcade sales that you know of? Is most of the money coming from pure board sales, or from people playing the game in the arcades they own?
Like how many conversion kits sold, and how many full kits (game and arcade noir cab).
I always wondered how many boards they have sold. I wonder about old capcom boards as well. Interesting stuffs.

It was like DRO, yes.
