Halo |OT4| Trust's a Tough Thing to Come by These Days

Glad somebody is lighting a fire under Bungie's ass. You eat what you kill. Reach was sloppy as shit and ODST was disappointing, they got too comfortable in their abandoned movie theater complex. I expect good things to come out of this.

Yeah, I agree with this. Hopefully the two year cycle doesn't lead to a worse game in the future though.

I'm pretty sure in CE you had to crouch jump to get up top.

The jumping mechanics were definitely different in CE, so it makes sense they couldn't directly emulate the feel. However, the gravity just seems so high in the Anniversary lists; it was very noticeable going from the campaign in Anniversary into MP in a short period of time.

Also, I don't like the bloom on the pistol. It may just be visual, but that just makes it feel inaccurate. Purely psychological.

The entire world needs to make sure this game pulls a billion. Id love to see the entire bungie studio carpark full of high end Italian motors

Baby steps. How 'bout locked 30 frames per second first.

It annoys me that dev's dont seem to concerned with this. Every dev should be pushing for 60fps from day one and if thats simply unreachable due to technical limitations locked 30fps.

I get its not as easy as that but id take the trade off of worse textures or lower poly models for higher fps anyday.

Lol I'm pretty sure I've become the HaloGAF ambassador to the lurker realm.

edit: I'd rather have a great looking game that's locked at 30 than a game that runs at 60fps and looks like ass.

True that, I prefer a smooth frame rate any day.

I'm OK with locked at 30 as long as there is never a frame drop

I wish the the best of luck in your future endeavours.

I wonder why the hell you keep getting them

Every Halo title has aimed for 30 FPS. Framerate doesn't get locked down to very late into the end of development and it isn't as simple as "locking" it and adjusting some sliders elsewhere to make it so.

I'd love a 60 fps Halo but that isn't happening this generation. And I'm pretty sure they will try to make the game a constant 30 fps. It won't, however hard they try, be constant. I don't think you could name a similar title that achieves that on the same platform. As long as they do their best.

And as long as they aim to never let it get as bad as Reach ever again.

Next game, I think the extra horsepower should be used to lock the framerate and resolution down from the get go. Halo should be a title that sets standards.

Crysis 2, Call of Duty Series and God Of War 3(arguably the best looking console game) all run at a solid 60 fps. I dont see what stops Halo

Also, GoWIII doesn't run at a constant 60, does it? I thought it could occasionally go up there, but it would never dip below 30.
You get 30 fps when you're lucky. You're right about the other two though. Although GoW 3 doesn't always hit 60.
When you're lucky=no enemies on screen/beginning of level

Crysis 2 doesn't. (Neither does the Crysis 1 port)
God of War isn't on the 360.

And the COD games, whilst they do have a sweet framerate, look like glorified PS2 games with sub-HD resolutions and terrible graphics and textures.

Your argument here is poor. Your only comparison is COD and that's pretty terrible. What's stopping the Crysis games? What about other games?

If the COD games actually ran in HD and had comparable graphics then you'd have a point, but you don't.

Hey, I said I'd rather have that!

With any luck, in the relatively near future, devs won't have to sacrifice framerate for graphics or vice versa (on consoles at least, they already don't have to on pc).

And Rage looked good, but not that good.

Destiny will be PC too. So framerate will be all good. Right?

Cause basically since they aren't tied to Microsoft they should be trying to take more of the PC market too. I want my Halo's on PC. I don't want to be fucking jerking around with a 20fps Halo 5 in 2015. I want to be maxing it the fuck out on my expensive rig.

If we're going to talk about great looking console games, Killzone 2/3 has to be in the mix.
I've seen Crysis/Battlefield 3 run at max PC settings, and Killzone comes damn near close to that level of graphical accomplishment. Those games look sick.

Crysis games look alot better than Halo does, CoD isnt the most visually great game but its not vastly different from reach.

God of War you have a point about.

60fps is unreasonable and i understand that but locking down 30fps shouldnt be that hard. Not when games that dont look much worse can lock 60

Destiny will be PC too. So framerate will be all good. Right?

I just want to be a fly on the wall in Bungie's studio when they suddenly realize they have to make a "massively multiplayer" game. I imagine it was something like

"Wait wait... 8 maps and a terrible map editor isn't good enough? Wait, you want us to lock a framerate down, too? AND YOU WANT a campaign more than 4 hours long? jesus Activision, you guys are slave drivers. Here, have a t-shirt with a grunt on it, that's good enough to keep our community happy. Alright alright, if you really want it that way, we're gonna need 85 years of dev time and a second movie theater complex to work out of"

Too mean.

Put me at LOCKED 30, great visuals. 60 fps is nice, not necessary. The only 60 fps retail games I've played are CoD and I think Burnout Paradise. Locked 30 is fine.

Locked 30 is OK, its no Locked 60 though.

Cmon get your Its good Enough attitudes out of here. Good enough is why we have so much shit everywhere in this world.

Responses like this are one of the (many, many) reasons documents like these are best left out of the public eye.

Yup. It's easy to jump to conclusions about a lot of this stuff without any context.

If Bungie and Activision are both happy with the agreement, I don't see why Bungie fans wouldn't be.
