when do people think we'll see the next OSX? Are they just going to keep making these small updates to 10?

They've got to be working on 11. Thats one thing I'm super excited for, iTunes and Finder and window behavior is just so..old

silver is the new black.
http://www.bgr.com/2012/05/29/apple-maps-ios-6-3d-summer/

Apple has been working on an in-house mapping solution for a few years, and it appears as if the company is finally ready to release a new Maps app for iOS, sidestepping Google’s mapping data for its own. BGR has obtained exclusive information and photos of Apple’s new Maps app from a trusted source, and the app features a refreshed user interface including a brand new navigation bar. This bar, we’re told, is silver instead of blue. Since the current Maps app follows the standard blue iOS color scheme, we think it’s possible Apple might shift toward a silver color theme in iOS 6 like on the iPad.

The iPhone version of Maps has a floating locate me button (it sounds very similar to Android’s Google Maps app) in the bottom left corner. To access 3D mode, which will make use of Apple’s C3 Technologies acquisition, you have to peel back the lower right corner of Maps just like the current version and enable 3D mode. Once enabled, you can switch in and out of 3D mode by tapping a 3D icon in the lower left corner. A photo of this feature can be seen in our gallery.

Apple is now putting the finishing touches on its 3D mapping functionality, and it is currently being tested in build 10A3XX of iOS 6.

Get Instacast and get ready for the best podcast experience of your life.

does it sync with iTunes in any way? that's the thing, I have no problem with podcasts on the computer, or how it syncs with the iPhone when I plug it in, I just want some way to check for new episodes

OS 11 will come probably in 2013 or 14, and will at that point be a fusion between iPad iOS and Mac OS. But until then we will get more cats.

Instacast works without iTunes. It automatically checks at a user determined interval for new podcasts and downloads them, or allows you to stream them. It toally changed the way I approach podcasts, never having to sync with iTunes again for podcasts or realize it didn't sync up properly when I was getting ready to go to work with a podcast in the ear.

Right now there's a iPhone and iPad app, a Mac version is also coming. They also sync up with iCloud, so if you listen for 45 minutes on your phone, the iPad app will know that and you can continue where you left off on the iPad (and Mac in the future).

does it push episodes to you? I like podcaster but I like the idea of icloud syncing for half-listened to episodes.

I notice that the status bar in the mockup is black instead of the silver one currently. I wonder if that'll be something across all apps, now? I definitely wouldn't mind it, always felt the silver status bar was outdated.

hmm that sounds cool. I think I'll wait for a Mac app though, I listen to a lot of podcasts on OSX

I wonder if the elimination of the full width bottom menu bar will be something Apple does with all (or most) of it's other apps in iOS 6. pushing more UI to the top bar and only adding one or two floating elements on the bottom on an app per app basis.

leaves more room for content. it would be the biggest change in the iOS standard UI in 6 years.

It's going to be like how it is on Windows (just well more Appley) where the tablets, laptops, desktops, etc all run the same OS just altered to fit the need of the particular platform. All part of the same computer line.

iPads, Macbooks, & iMac's will all be in the same family of being Apple computers running very similiar OS's. It's just instead of ripping the band-aid off all at once and pushing it all at once like Microsoft is doing with Windows 8 Apple seems to be nudging it along slowly. iPads becoming more and more Mac like with each iOS upgrade and Macs becoming more and more iPad like with each OSX upgrade.

Has anyone else noticed Apple has been bringing back the colorful Apple logo rather than using that standard black/silver one that had been in place since Jobs return? Both the WWDC logo and the iPad 3 event logo used a rainbow colored Apple logo.

I never noticed that the iPhone iOS is blue and on iPad it is silver. Huh. Guess this would just be a iPhone change then.

I really wonder what iPad will get with iOS 6. iPad already has the silver theme, and the Maps application while will be on iPad too is more iPhone centric.

See previous page.
Ah right, missed that. iPhoto was quite similar as well. Not sure I like everything being silver though, need some black in there. Minimal silver through overlay buttons like the Maps one is good, though.

I'm also wondering, when will we see an update to Pages and the iWork suite like we did for the iLife suite?

Damn Apple-GAF, you're on the ball today :p I was all ready to post about the new WWDC app and the Maps mockups :p Can't wait to post my WWDC topic. Pretty much all ready to go :D

I'm going to be really disspointed if they don't further the iPad iOS dependence through new and separate features. It's about fucking time they take advantage of the realestate and build iOS around that.

Any hope for new Iphone ?

No iPhones till October.

It would be cool to see the new iPhone even though it's probably not going to happen.

They don't release phones till they give devs time to work with the new iOS. It's why when iPhone came out in June they showed the new iOS back around March or so. Since iOS 6 is being shown at WWDC the new iPhone is 100% not coming till the fall.

Same here.

Pretty realistic I think.

iOS 6 and iTunes 11 are my top wants.

I wish Apple could pull apart iTunes like they do on iOS Where the app store it's own thing, the music player is its own thing, the video player is it's own thing, iBooks store and viewer is it's own thing, and iTunes is only for purchasing music and videos. But they can't becasue of Windows. They are kind of stuck with literally everything being stuck in one App.

That Windows excuse is such bullshit though. Apple already has a Winwoes installer utility that handles separate apps like Quicktime, Safari and iTunes. There is no good reason not to break it up on Mac OS Xand Windows too

Also of course expecting some unannounced features of Mountain Lion to be, well, announced.

Same here. I'd kill for a revamped iTunes, maybe in the style of the Mac app store.

I think I'm in the minority in Gaf as I don't want iTunes to do less. I don't want multiple windows and dock icons for multiple apps to deal with music, videos, store, apps, etc.

I just want each section of the app to load faster and the switching between sections of the app to be faster. right nw there's a ot of half second or full send pauses going from music to apps list to the store to playlists. make those go faster. don;t make me manage multiple apps and windows to do the things I do now.

I want that modal "get info" box to be replaced by a floating inspector so it's easier to view and edit metadata on multiple songs and videos.

And I want the the store, genius data and my library to be even further integrated. so I could hit a button next to a song that's playing and see a nice, visual full window tree of similar artists and albums and quickly navigate from one to another. the genius sidebar doesn't go far enough, imo. it's small and clumsy.

Don't know that we'd see a new iTunes at WWDC, I do expect an update iLife suite that brings the Mac side up to the iOS apps. iPhoto OS X might make a good demo for retina Macs.

the worst thing about iTunes is how slow and awful the store is, but weren't there rumors of a new iTunes score?

It's much faster for me to google app or podcast names and then open the link in iTunes then use the iTunes search and horrible interface :I

Yeah, iPhoto on iPad is superior to desktop iPhoto, which is ridiculous. They better update it soon, should come with Mountain Lion.

Dude, I was in the same podcast hell as you were.

Listen to me, buy Instacast on the iPhone and use that to manage all your podcasts.

Buy AirServer for the Mac and just AirPlay the podcast. You don't have to worry about syncing ever again.
