I am pretty sure it does!

I don't think so, I'm afraid:

(from the comments)
Will you also get two GoG.com copies if you pledged the Customizatron, which includes and extra digital copy of Reïncarnation?

Heh, no you won't. One free copy of Carmageddon and the Splat Pack from GOG.com is the - exceedingly good - deal.

...admittedly, that's not specifically talking Double Whammy, but I'd expect the same rules to apply there.

Just $15,494 to go before they hit their goal of $400,000!

I guess the GOG announcement yesterday really helped a lot:

Oh god. Three posts in a row. Sorry about bumping this thread for a second time:p . But I think it's worth noting that there's only $9301 left to go before this projects gets funded.

I'm ashamed to admit, but I only donated $25 because in the video they slaughtered Tim Schafer, and I thought it was funny. I'm a bad, bad person.

I'd say around 700-800k too if the rate doesn't drop significantly, they add some more stuff/updates and there will be a large amount of pledges during the last days like it's mostly the case.

Wow they did it never doubted it really. I'm getting a little teary fond memory's playing Carmageddon back in day :)

Question: Are kickstarter-funded games free when they're released? I would hope so, considering the development costs came from the consumers' pockets.

It depends on the project. Some will be free and some will be commercial, like Carmageddon will be.

There are general kickstarter/crowd funding threads if you want to understand them better or talk about morality/ethics.

In this instance, it's a commercial title which will be given for free to people who backed at or beyond a certain level - so it's free for its backers.

Apparently this summer will bring iOS and android versions of carmageddon, and they will be free for the first 24 hours due kickstarter campaign.

It's worth pointing out that as far as I can determine, they're not saying that they'll be free *to backers*, they're saying that they'll be free *to everyone* for that period.

Ah they need to raise another 100k to hit the Linux/ Mac stretch goal.

Also at 750k they will add two player split screen support and co-op!

I don't know if they can do it with less than 5 days to go.

They'll make the Mac goal, but I'm doubting they'll make the 750k without a real strong surge.

yeah, no doubt that the Mac/ Linux (as as Linux user, I would be happy) goal will be met. But They should've announced some of these stretch goals sooner. It would've probably motivated more people to pledge.

Some prototype gameplay - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqwfGqwJlGo

We're working our way around the original "Blood on the Rooftops" track, as a test-bed for prototyping and developing the game. It involves designing and building the level geometry, working out the ped tech, testing handling, collision shape mods, physics stuff, PUp ideas, etc. etc... Basically, this prototyping process enables us to write the WHOLE GAME, and have fun while we do it! :D It’s the same way that we developed the original game – as a constantly evolving prototype (based on a solid, written core design, of course!). The approach is: Get something up and playable as early as possible, then try stuff out!

This level teaser is intended only as a first impression of progress on the level construction for Carmageddon: Reincarnation. The vehicle, pedestrians their AI and their animations, plus the special effects, are ALL placeholder. The pedestrians in the clips we’ve edited together here were set up to be EXTRA easy to dismember (It’s a simple script editing job to set how well a ped holds together in an impact, again something that’ll be fun to MOD) because we thought it would be fun to spray plenty of blood about.

The level/game has NO optimisation of any kind yet, so EVERYTHING is being processed at ALL times - all the geometry, and around 1000 peds (hence the choppy framerate!). The level is in early/mid stage of construction, and so textures and detailing is missing, even from the more "finished" looking sections. And it goes without saying, In other words, IT'S EARLY DAYS!
