Halo |OT4| Trust's a Tough Thing to Come by These Days

really? where. i mean that unsc guy on the stage seemed mighty suspicious

I'm more inclined to believe what someone else posted before as a theory. Chief gets captured or is otherwise indisposed and the Infinity is trying to leave without him. (They have a whole host of S4s after all.)

I wouldn't be surprised if that little clip is actually at the end of a cliffhanger ending, or a major part in the middle/last third of the game.

Same, nothing else this E3 interests me much anyway. Halo really is E3 this year.
Yeah, I was trying to look at E3 with as unbiased an eye as possible, but it seems like Halo 4 was the only real newsmaker at the event. At the very least I hope it demonstrated to Microsoft the importance of the franchise (and by extension, the importance of 343) to the Xbox.

Ain't no buzz like Halo buzz.

My God, what have we done?

A discussion on FUD reminded me, but anyone remember that 2005 fake Halo 3 script? The one that had Cortana as an enemy and an ancient Forerunner warrior awakened after aeons of sleep?

Crazy how far the universe has come.

hm, didn't think about that. makes a little more sense. i guess im just dying for a halo game that you kill humans in. (not exactly sure why) spin off game involving insurrectionists could be cool.

cliffhanger ending.

you really think they'd do that again? i mean i think im in the minority of people that loved halo 2's ending. but a lot of people hated that.

I'm kidding obviously, I'm HaloGAFer 1A on uniformity in matchmaking and not having a 100 different types of gametypes and a 100 playlists.

If the aim assist and magnetism mechanics are similar to Halo CE or Shadowrun's then it won't be too much of a problem, but if they are like every other Halo game, then I see it as a huge difference in gameplay.

That's true. People have said in their impressions that it felt like aim assist and magnetism levels were down over the previous games, so one can hope.

Since there's some talk about playlists, i'll give my two cents regarding them.

Core lists:
Ranked: Team Slayer, Team Objective, Squad Battle. Possibly Lone Wolves, depending on demand. Ranked games give extra experience in addition to the skill-ranking but don't allow guests.
Unranked: Social Slayer, Social Skirmish, Big Team Battle, Rumble Pit, Multi Team (4x2person teams).

Additional lists:
Permament additionals: Classic (objective and slayer), MLG (whatever the competitive community wants).
I'm not sure if SWAT and Sniper should be permament lists. Probably should, considering their popularity in Halo 3 and Reach (and 2?).
The rest would be rotated weekly, ie Griffball on week one, Zombies on week 2, etc. 4 of these would be a good idea probably, once per month each.
And then there'd be weekend lists, these would be experimental lists, versions of normal lists (BTB Heavies, Hardcore (limited lives)...), stuff like that, and Action Sack (though it could be a weekly list).

Max lists at time: 15, 14 without weekend list. That wouldn't be too bad.

DLC should be integrated on all lists, given slightly higher weighting and incentive to get them (double experience on them, extra Emblems for buying DLC or stuff like that).

So basically the plot of Halo 4 is what the plot of Halo 3 should have been...I'm okay with this.

Keep AAs, sprint, loadouts
Remove Grenade Launcher

Serious question: Is there anybody here who doesn't like the gun? I don't think that has ever been asked. I'm genuinely curious.

So Frank, since you're here, is team killing gone from the game? Or just turned off for the E3 stuff?

Also is it confirmed that you don't get knocked out of zoom on the DMR when shot? What about sniper?

Sounds about right. Looks like we have a similar wishlist.

This is my plan for PAX lol

I would do the same. Hopefully next year I'm hired at some Police department and I can go to E3 or PAX, finally.

Then I can kidnap Ellis and Frankie and handcuff them to a bed while I torture them wearing my Dax mask

nope favorite gun in the game. used to be needler lol. at least that's still in.

So how do I get my hands on one of these Master Chief avatar codes?

I've always wondered what Halo 3's campaign would have been if Halo 2 didn't have it's final act cut.

Anyone that doesn't like it is wrong.

I don't like the
fact that I suck with the
gun.

Just can't get kills with it! I mainly use it to disable vehicles.

It's a trilogy, it's a given. Only this time we can hope it's not a "rushed" ending like we got in 2, but at this point we know WHY 2 was the way it was.

Why pay for a mask? After GLgate if you never tell them your name they'll just assume you're him.

Not after seeing pics of him, plus I look nothing like Dax, or most of HaloGAF. I'm pretty sure they would see me coming, plus fooling them isn't the point. *wrings hands*

wasn't it supposed to be another warthog run to the dreadnought, then the first level in the jungle. actually wasn't it supposed to go all the way to the ark uncovering? damn that'd be a long game.

also im pretty sure halo 3 was to have a ton more on the ark. like the level in the guardian forest with the giant sentinels that you could rip an eye out of and use as a weapon, and the boat level.

That's not what I am referring to, I am talking about the aim assist and magnetism values being the same even at range for ranged weapons. How in Halo CE and Shadowrun, you get magnetism and aim assist at far ranges out of scope with the CE Pistol and SR Rifle respectively. Most good players in Halo CE and SR don't zoom in when shooting ranged weapons because of these gun mechanics, it isn't necessary.

In other Halo games, you lose your aim assist/magnetism over range, and have to zoom in to get it back. This mechanic is what I am referring to in regards to the no de-scoping when getting shot having a drastic impact on gameplay.

So does anyone know what was up with the no friendly fire and not being taken out of scope when shot?

I noticed the friendly fire but assumed it was just for demo purposes but is not getting kicked out of scope after being shot true?

For any of the guys that have played Halo 4 did you got a chance to use the RL? If so, did you notice if gravity effected the trajectory of the rockets?

Finally caught up.

Not sure if anyone else noticed this in the IGN gameplay as it is a slightly minor thing, elevation indicators are back on the radar. They are much easier to read with an arrow on top of the dots if they are above you and an arrow underneath the dots if they are below you. The same goes for ordinance icons as well. Also ordinance icons that are not in radar range have a wide blue arrow pointing towards them on the outside of the radar ring to help you find them.

I happen to notice because me and the radar have become good friends as an active camo user. :) Looking forward to using Sensory Upgrade and AA efficiency for my camo. :) Unless some other support upgrade shows up that is better than a radar upgrade. Watching the video it seems to increase the radar range by about double... not sure how it increases "sensitivity".

Not really sure, as I'm sure the original idea for Halo 3's script, which was obviously just a general idea before Halo 2 was completed was changed significantly once Halo 2's final act got cut.

No, I understand what you are talking about, I was just saying trying to make a hopeful connection to aim assist levels clearly being different in H4 to possibly going back to same aim assist and magnetism levels for zoomed and unzoomed.

Damn... i want one. So cool. Better than the Mjolnir Mark V i have right now.

You take that back this instant!

(Nah, the Mk V avvy armor is only decent. But I will fight someone who says Mk VI or this new version looks better than Mk V, especially the helmet.)

You sir are part of the problem! ;)

I love propipe but it was objectively underused.

Well, I can sure see this new iteration being used a shit ton. (seriously)

Halo 4 Mk VI
Halo CE(A) Mk V
Halo wars MK IV
Halo 3 MK VI
Halo 2 MK VI
Halo Reach MK V

Dunno where to put Mjolnir GEN2, i like it a lot but need to see permutations and see it really, play with it to say where to put it.

With the (seemingly) replacement of the pro-pipe with the Sticky Detonator, unless it's hiding somewhere, my biggest concern in Halo 4 is the SD being a poor substitute.

If there's anything that deserves to be carried over from Reach, it's the grenade launcher.

Edit: Well, okay, I was joking about that being my biggest concern – a good campaign is far more important – but, dammit, that weapon is too much fun!

While not my biggest concern it is right up there. For me the Pro Pipe is the most satisfying weapon to use in the Reach sandbox. To not have it, or to have a substitute that's completely different just doesn't cut it. I'm sure the SD is a great weapon but can it really compare with cross mapping someone, or bounce shotting some camping scrub round a corner?

Don't forget that nearly all of Cortana (halo 3 level)'s assets have been around since Halo 2 and it was supposed to be a level not unlike high charity, the Ark was supposed to be on the moon or something, Arby and Chief would have had their stories finally cross in the last level, etc. halo 3 would have been a completely different beast if Halo 2 had been given proper treatment time-wise.
