This is such a terrible idea on so many level. And these shoes are so damn ugly, I don't get how someone thought "yeah that's a great design!".

It's only racist if they rub bacon grease on the soles to make you think the shoes were well fed. Also it'd be pretty easy to spot any scuffs they received for misbehavior.

i'd cop a pair (if they were like <$100) and wear em to parties just for the novelty factor.

Out of all his choices, those may be the least offensive.

The bottom right one is like if the Saved by the Bell opening credits were a shoe. I approve.

"Got a sneaker game so hot you lock your kicks to your ankles?" the company asked in the Facebook post.

I wonder who they could be targeting with that facebook post. I wonder who it could be.

Is Addidas making some underlying statement about the role of consumerism in black culture, and how it further perpetuates subservience to a body that wants nothing but to profit off them and keep them in a continual state of shallow irrelevancy?

Reached for comment, Adidas responded:

We understand the concerns expressed by our loyal customers. In light of this development, our company has chosen to refocus its efforts on hats.

Have you ever been running so fast that your hat needed to be tied to your head?

Try rope hats. Just tighten the patented hang-loop around your neck, and your hat stays firmly in place.

It gives a new meaning to hanging with your friends.

Damn if they would have thought of this a few years ago they could have branded them SHAQ-les.™

Needs more urban slang.

I truly have no clue how Adidas has managed to keep on Jeremy Scott after all the abominations he's put out under their brand, perhaps these latest pair of fashion 'statements' will finally get the company to drop the fucker

Damn son, nice kicks. Fuck these Jordans, I'm snatchin up those Kunta Kintes.

The tribal zebra-esque print on the strap and tongue doesn't do work with the shackles...and the urban streetwear market it will be marketed and sold primarily to features a number of people to whom shackles are not a good look.

But is the shoe "racist"? No. Is Jeremy Scott racist? No. Is Adidas racist? No. Is this potentially insensitive? It's hood shackles. Of course it is.

[EDIT: deeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaad @ "kunta kintes"]
