Theatrhythm Final Fantasy |OT| Yes, "One-Winged Angel" is in! Quit asking!

I found a Dark Note that I could actually farm crystals from that has Mambo de Chocobo and the Ending Movie from FFXII. Of course the crystals I do get from it unlocked Minwu and Cid, two characters that I don't particularly care about. I want my Vivi and Kain.

The difficulty seems to be all over the place with with me and this game. There's some songs that I can get through without too much trouble on Ultimate but there's others that I just can't keep up with on Expert. I think I get overwhelmed when it requires me to quickly switch between tapping, flicking, and holding down on the touch screen.

Phew, I'm glad I pre-ordered, the price on Amazon has gone up to £28.66. It's just a shame my Amazon Prime order still hasn't arrived.

Got my dispatch email last night, but of course the game didn't arrive today...

I still fear it will kill my touch screen.

On the bright side, Dragon Quest V is really good (2 hours in now). I even like Saber, though I wish I had renamed him BattleCat (too many letters)

Just pulled this off! Fairly proud of this one -- it might be the hardest Ultimate Score in the game, based on what I've played so far (and I've played a lot).

These are the stats I have for level 99 characters so far. They are the raw stats when 'naked', to keep things fair. Anyone got the gaps?

Is there a point to doing Stoic runs besides higher score? I mean the difficulty is exactly the same from what I've played and all you get is a higher score and an extra S ranking.

Nah, really the only point is for rhythm game enthusiasts who revel in getting good grades and high scores. It sounds silly, but I'm one of those people, so I can't talk. :p

I REALLY wish they hadn't designed the scoring and item/skill-equipping aspects of the game to exist at odds with one another. It sucks to miss out on a fairly big chunk of the gameplay simply because I like going for high scores.

I'm confused. What's the point of equipment and stats of the characters. I never understood the RPG elements that are suppose to be in the game. It's a music game. Can someone explain or point me to a post that explains this?

Higher stats will let you get further in fields, defeat more enemies in battles, etc. There's no point to that system, no, but it's fun fluff.

Hmm. I see. Thanks. I would have thought the better you did the longer you'd stay in a level and keep the song going until completion.

Depends on the field level beforehand. For some of them, if you keep a streak going from the beginning you'll eventually reach a point where a sign appears saying "Boss 2 or 3," if you keep the streak going to the end you'll go to Boss 3. Boss 2 otherwise. I think some Dark Notes may behave differently though.

Actually, I believe someone earlier in the thread figured out that you have to have a near perfect chain in FMS to get to the sign, then in BMS, depending on how you do at the first few enemies, you'll fight either boss (bad ->boss 2, good -> boss 3). Seems to work that way for me.

"At last we fight strangely in a panic!"

Game get! So far it's pretty fun, but I just started playing. Got the stylus with it, but I can't pick a sticker to add to it. Leaning towards the Chocobo.

EDIT: And first All Critical! It's just FF3's Eternal Wind FMS on Basic, but still. It's a start.

Can someone explain to me why sometimes I will get 5000+ exp for a song on Ultimate, play the same song again, score better than last time and only get 1000+ exp?

Does changing your party up actually matter?

Or can I just keep on going with the same people?

it doesn't matter all that much, so feel free to use whomever you wish. there are a limited number of circumstances, generally in the Chaos Shrine, when having certain party members may be advantageous.

It's a small Rhythmia bonus to have a character from the game you're playing, though. It adds up a little over time if you do, I imagine.

Stupid question, but as someone who has never played a FF game, I'm being cautious. Is any of the music orchestrated, or is it all 8/16 bit music? The latter would be kinda disappointing for me.

All the music is straight out of the corresponding game, so it depends on the title.

I don't think this is really a must-have title for a non-FF fan.

I love rhythm games though. DDR/guitar hero/stepmania/ it doesn't matter. As a musician, a game with good music and fun charts is heaven.

This game really flew under the radar for me but it seems like it's getting a lot of positive buzz now that it's out. Do you guys think it's worth picking up with the B2G1 deal at Best Buy? I'd always kind of assumed that this game would be a cash-in but what I've seen actually looks pretty appealing, and I really enjoy FF music.

I don't think FF music makes the best translation ever to the music genre. I also don't like the swipes as an input method, I don't feel like it flows as well as something like Ouendan on the higher difficulties. While that game gets better as it gets harder because it more accurately represents the music, I don't think this works quite as well.

I mean, I like it, but as a straight music game without caring at all about FF I dunno.

Buy it, post impressions. It'd be interesting.

This game is so much nostalgia overload for the games I've played...

But I'm going to blaspheme a little now: One Winged Angel should NOT have been the FF7 battle song. Both the regular battle song (Those Who Fight) and the boss song (Those Who Fight Further) would have been better. One Winged Angel should have been an unlockable... and hard as nails, too.

I tried One Winged Angel on Ultimate difficulty. Failed within the first 10 seconds.

But SE put it in for obvious reasons, it's one of the most popular VG songs ever. It's what most fans wanted.

Exactly, I like equipping my characters and getting as far as I can in FMS, I don't really feel like giving up on that for an arbitrary ranking. I mean they are really pushing it as it is in terms of re-playablility, forcing you to play on difficulties that, frankly, are beneath me (as snobbish as that may sound).

I know it is, but since it's part of the Series set, it has to be cut down. Which is sad. It wanted it in full Final Boss glory, but sadly, it is not. I haven't unlocked anything Ultimate yet.

"Let's go. We shout unwillingly in fear..." The game has total confidence in me

It's funny because I have been hearing quite the opposite from reviews and impressions. I will probably get it later today and if it really is just FF nostalgia and nothing else, I'll sell it to a friend.

Oh yeah that would have been nice. But maybe it's in Dark Note mode too. Those BMS tend to be longer and more focused on actually fighting bosses.

Fuuuu in the challenge mode, the music is Blinded By Light. why the fuck is it not part of a set of FF13? fuck man! That song is bitchin' to rock out to, that would make the perfect BMS song.

Why are you missing out on any gameplay? It's basically a second mode in the game, if you get a high score in a song it doesn't stop you from playing the song again with stuff equipped to earn stuff.
