PlayStation All-Stars joined by Heihachi and Toro

So is every announcement of this game going to have to have people stating, "Now I'm not buying it!" or "Still not going to get it." Jesus people.

Still an unexciting announcement for me... hope Comic Con has something more interesting

That is actually incredibly disappointing, fighting games in this day and age should strive for at least 25-30 characters on release. (especially for a party game like this where variety is crucial)
Some spoiled ass people 'in this day and age'. And you all want them on disc unlocked, free and the game under 60 bucks.

What the heck is Toro?

Is he just a SCEJ thing? A guest character in 2 big fighting games I guess if SCEE and SCEA dont release whatever he is in soonish its kind of a missed chance.

Tekken guy is a good pick and Tekken is a good franchise you associate with playstation but shouldn't he have grey hair?

He didn't have grey hair until the later versions. He was still relatively young in Tekken 1.

He's been around since 1999, and is basically the closest thing that Sony has to a mascot. Problem is that until this gen he was mostly only known in Japan. But he's been featured as a guest on tons of games on the PS3 and PSP. Everything from Phantasy Star to Tales of titles.

Great, Toro! I always remember Blanca from Animal Crossing when I see him. Good character inclusion. I don't care about the Tekken guy, but I guess it's a nice addition judging from the people who liked it.

I can't wait to see what 1st parties are also part of this, there are some great options! Also, for 3rd parties, I'd love to see Lightning and Lara (and Vivi, but I know that's not happening)... I hope they're both in.

I really hope they release a demo.

I think it's going to win a lot of people over.

There will, of course, be people that just can't let go of their sour grapes, and will bitch about it not being 100% like Smash, while bitching that it's a "blatant" Smash rip off (can't have your cake and eat it too, guys, make up your minds: either it's a Smash derivative, or it's not), but I think a lot of people are going to be surprised at how fun it is.

The controls are just damn smooth and responsive, the visuals are surprisingly detailed with vibrant colors (something youtube videos seem to utterly fail at conveying), and the combat is just damn good fun. I can't say enough how much I enjoyed playing it on the Vita and PS3 with other people. It 100% reminded me of the frantic sessions of Melee I'd have with my friends.

There was hints of strategy and depth as well, since each character has so many moves at their disposal. I'm really looking forward to spending more time with Sly Cooper, as I tried playing as him in my second round, and got utterly trounced. His speed threw me off ground, and I wasn't entirely sure about his move set, as he had a bunch of skills I wasn't sure on how to utilize.

Naysayers are gonna nay, but if a few of them are honest, they'll probably end up eating crow once they get their hands on it.

I love Smash Bros, and after 10 minutes with PBR, I fell in love with it too.

Still he has a bit to much hair. He should be bald on top. he was bald in tekken 1 wasn't he?

Some googling shows me they are using his design from Tekken Tag 2.

One thing I do notice is that their are alot of character specific mechanics things that only that character can do it doesn't seem like there are going to be any clone characters.

Heihachi seems to have a command counter
Drake has the cover system
Toro stance changes
Sly has Teleporting and Invisibility and a barrel that can absorb projectiles
etc.

I feel like little touches like that, that aren't exactly apparent when you first get your hands on the game are gonna make this game that much better

Yeah. Mechanically IMO the game looks very, very good. Better than Smash.

It's the supporting design that doesn't jive well. UI stuff, clarity issues, "feel" stuff (can't be too sure on these though).

I think Radec has a cover system too, but his signature style is more of a ranged fighter than Drake. Drake seems like he has more brawler based combat (I didn't get to play as him, as I was in the Vita kiosk, where they had Vita/PS3 cross play stations and the line wasn't as long), with some mid ranged projectile weapons.

I agree that there will probably be very few clones. Which is also why the roster probably won't exceed 25 characters.

I think they're doing an excellent job of capitalizing on each of the character's signatures from their respective franchises. I only played as Kratos and Sly, but watching the other players play as the other characters really sold me on how well they nailed the character's core personas.

I just love the look and feel of the game. Which is something the videos just haven't been able to convey.

A demo is a must with this one, I think.

I'm very pleased with both additions. Toro looks like a ton of fun with his various stances, and Tekken is definitely one of the more deserving third party series out there. If you don't think a Tekken character should be in this, you might want to look at this list. Jin, Kazuya, and Heihachi are generally regarded as the mascots of the Tekken series, and Heihachi is probably the most "crossover friendly" of the three. He's also the only one to have appeared in all three PSX Tekken games.

I wonder how the Toro transformation mechanic works. Does he get a new moveset for all three forms, like Zelda/Sheik? Or does he just change a few moves?

I think that may just be his normal block animation though where as drake can shoot while behind cover as an extension to his moveset.

Also somebody needs to ask superbot what's the guarantee of a third party coming back in a later entry. I don't want to main someone like Heihachi to find out he's not in the sequel and I'm back to square one.

I like how well the characters are animated in relation to their games. Kratos looks straight out of GoW3. Heihachi's whole fighting style looks intact, and he's juggling people. Drake seems to have a cover system (I mean, seriously.) Then he runs, leaps, and shoots with animations straight out of Uncharted.

It's possible that the layout could change between now and release, but adding a second row would make room for a total of 26 icons, fitting in with the "over 20" that's been confirmed. Of course, there could be a random select and/or DLC icon making for 24/25 characters.

oh there is footage of Drake somewhere? I'm curious.

The gameplay they showed at EVO was pretty underwhelming. Then mentioned the game had block/dodge moves, but I didn't see any :/

Really, Spyro is someone who should be left for a potential sequel. He's not as recognizable as Crash, and is probably going to be harder to get due to the success of Skylanders.

I think he's more likely because of Skylanders. Promotion is a great reason to let a character be used for something like this. I think that's sort of why the Big Daddy is in.

Seeing as how Activision isn't even putting Spyro in the title of Skylanders 2, I think they don't really care. At least I would hope since they made that abomination of a redesign of him. :/

I'd rather not have him at all than have that thing they've made and called Spyro.

Really liking the way Toro's moveset looks. Wish they could have done cool stuff like this with him in SFxT. Heihachi looks great too.

Releasing a demo is probably the best way to do that since it seems like everyone that plays it says that it's a lot of fun.

A demo is definitely needed. The game looks good, but so did Brawl and that was a very big disappointment gameplay wise. Would rather not get burned like that again.

It's nice that everyone that's actually played Battle Royale says it's a lot of fun, but I'd really like to try it myself first.

I think Young Heihachi is the incarnation we will see in Tekken from now on, since Heihachi's last voice actor died.

Your ignorance on both characters amuses me a bit.

For a first fighting game in the series 20-25 characters is pretty good. BlazBlue still doesn't have that many and vanilla SF4 didn't either.

What, I didn't say anything like that. You really think I said, games shouldnt be at basic standards?

I'm saying gamers requiring 35+ characters in every fighting game in this "day and age" is ridiculous. It's not the simple 90's sprite days where changing the hue of a characters outfit and naming it something different constitutes a new character. But I do not want to walk down this path of this debate... it's tired and never ends.

Yeah, his voice actor died, and heihatchi's age was getting kinda ridiculous (around 80 in T6)

so the tekken guys just decided to make it that he found the elixir of youth or something like that and deaged him, so they can use a new voice actor.

They need to achieve parity on the Vita. From what we've seen so far on that system, 60fps and native res is a challenge, even for PS2 ports.

I suspect that Sony really underclocked that processor for the sake of the battery. Shame -_-

There's a 99% chance that Jak is going to get revealed next week at Comic-Con.

Remember this?

It's real: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7g4KSm7qqQ

I figure the second part (with Jak) will be released next.

I think Jak,Ratchet and Sackboy will be here since they are too popular among the PlayStation fans to not have them here. (the three more popular than Sly anyway).

also Spike from Ape Escape "should" be in the game too since he was too huge during the PSX days.

I'm seriously underwhelmed by the visuals. Hopefully the gameplay makes up for it. Still waiting on appearances by:

Vita version is confirmed 60fps. I think it's native but don't quote me on that.

The bolded I'd say are locks as far as their inclusion. They are all in very popular, well loved franchises that Sony owns the rights to.

I loved Heavenly Sword, and think Nariko is a fantastic character, so I'm hoping she makes it in.

I'd almost guarantee Snake is showing up, but it's kind of up in the air, what with Konami being dumb, but then, Kojima always seems to be a fan of including his MGS characters in other media. He loves breaking that wall of realism in his own games, so I'm sure it tickles him to see his creation popping up in unlikely games like Smash Bros and PBR.

I can see having Wander in the game as a background character (battling a Colossus that has crashed into the wipEout stage), but I don't know if he'll be playable. I certainly wouldn't complain if he was.

I want Jen Tate, Monica, Jeanne, and Ellen, though. I really, really think Ellen would be an amazing and unique character to have in the game. with a move set of 22, she would have an arsenal of Folks at her disposal, and Folklore had some awesomely effective and clever Folks to utilize. Jen's alternate forms would make for a fun and interesting playstyle, and Monica and Jeanne would be nice, as they break away from the standard RPG fair of having your female character be some kind of mage/healer. They are strong and active knights, pretty much.

This game has so much potential with it's roster. I don't want them to DLC it to death, but I wouldn't complain of a few character packs down the line with some of the characters that didn't get to make it in by launch.

I'd much rather have a tightly balanced roster of 20 characters, than a bloated, unbalanced, and cloned roster of 30+.

That's actually pretty cool. The Deimos skin for Kratos and toy skin for Big Daddy.

Fat Princess and Redec are just wrong and don't fit here since all the other are loved and popular characters.

I guess they wanted a princes wearing pink but what's the excuse for Redec.

Why is that Deimos skin giving me a Leonidas vibe? Also I thought Toro and Heihachi were good reveals. They have a few months out before the game launches. Why show all of your heart stoppers now?
