I was on JPSN recently and became envious over all the Vita compatible MegaMan games we don't have in the west:

Playing through Mega Man 9 right now. My first mainline MegaMan game!

(My only other Megaman Experience being MegaMan X4 and Legends)

It's tons of fun, do any of the modern consoles have MegaMan 1-8 on their digital services?

Both PSN and Virtual Console have a huge chunk of the original MegaMan series. Both services may actually have all the games.

From the top of my head, you have from 1 to 5 in Wii Virtual Console and from 1 to 4 in USA PSN, the PSN versions are the Playstation versions (improved ports of the NES games), but they are in japanese.

The chart has Mega Man V (Wii Virtual Console) listed as Mega Man 4.

Also, I never knew there was a Mega Man Tennis game. Looking up some Youtube videos, and it looks pretty neat, actually!

Fixed, and yes there is a Mega Man Tennis and many more "weird" games and ports for the Japanese phones, maybe I will add them in the future.

I loved Ariga's take on Elecman being a bauss and Skullman,
with him being the main antagonist of the MMIV arc and redeeming himself
Unfortunately I haven't bought the Gigamix volumes but definitely have been wanting to for a long time.

He also has a New Project in the works.

And I would look into the Archie comics Azure, the arcs(4 comics) are coming out as graphic novels. The art is really faithful to the original series.

No kidding. Seeing how he does the character stories, his details in character design and some of his colored stuff from his dA/blog, I kinda wish if Capcom would just contract him for an animated series (or maybe art design on a game, MM&B wasn't enough for me). The promo stuff for Megaman 9 that was in the CD booklet was goooodlike.

I'll check out the Archie stuff soon.

Speaking of "weird" games. For years and years I owned Rockman Gold Empire and never knew that it was an official game. I thought it was a cheap Mega Man knock off. Here is the intro movie to the game for anyone that might be interested.

Very Mega Man 8ish.

So, this is exclusive to their own (Japanese) store? I guess they won't ship internationally. :(

Correct.

If you really really want it and you don't mind to pay a little extra, I suggest you to use Rinkya, Celga or a service like that, you will have to pay a fee for their services.

Hey, party people! I'm the original creator of the Mega Man Game History chart. I'm pretty stoked that it's still being shuffle around the net. I had always meant to go back and spruce it up, and I suppose the 25th anniversary would be the best time to do so.

And yes, to the best of my knowledge, all those games are official releases. The only games I excluded are budget re-releases. However, I'm starting to have doubts about some of the shadier-looking Asian PC games, like the X3 / X4 / X5 collection. I'll have to do a little more digging to make sure.

Thanks for the original chart, I will love to have here the updated chart when you have it ready ;)

Here is your answer:

Capcom’s Christian Svensson shared: “There are techinical problems that neither we or Sony are able to get around. The game doesn’t run properly when put in digital form. So it’s physical only for the time being (hold onto those UMDs, they’re gonna be valuable).”

“Frankly, I’m not sure but SCEA has never been able to get it to run in digital form and they handle the conversion process.”

“There’s different code in each territory. I’m not sure what Japan managed to do but Sony seems unable to make it work in the US with US code.”

http://www.siliconera.com/2012/02/28/why-is-mega-man-powered-up-not-on-the-playstation-network/

So yeah, Japanese version of the game has superior code.

this is the most appropriate place to post it - the megas new album (MM3) is, uh, half-out - after probably 3 or 4 years of saying "it's on the way"
If I wasn't perpetually junior'd (long story) I'd make a new thread to give it some exposure, but this should suffice. If you are uninitiated, check out the 1st couple albums (MM1 & 2), and then revel in the new one, it's very well-done. This is not simply "chiptune cover music," they've worked really hard to craft an honest-to-goodness rock opera paying tribute to these games!

I got Mega Man Maverick Hunter X from the euro store. Isn't it available in the jap store?

Never give up.

I don't believe this man's lies. Custom firmware people run the game without problems, and it's up in Japan. The only thing I can see SCEA saying warrants the stoppage of the release is the exact same reason Legends isn't on PSN here.

It is called Irregular Hunter X in Japan and is not grouped with the others.

Yeah, Maverick Hunter X is elsewhere on the store.

That can is going to look pretty cool on Rockman fan shelves around the world. And it's about time for us to have the Saturn soundtrack(s) on CD in such a definitive collection.

There might be a game, then again, I am thinking that Capcom will release more figures, and maybe a new animated series, or heck, even that MegaMan game that was made for Koreans. (wishful thinking)

Huh? More info on this please...?

Semi-tangent, but it looks like Mega Man X for iOS is on sale right now (through July 4th, it seems) for 99 cents. At $4.99 I couldn't take the plunge, but at a buck, I couldn't go wrong. The "upgraded" graphics definitely look very Flash-esque and the animation looks choppy since they didn't add frames, but overall it's not terrible.

Very bittersweet anniversary indeed. It's amazing how poorly Capcom treats Mega Man now. When you think about it, it's equivalent to a hypothetical bizarro-world situation where Sega started shafting the Sonic series.

The suits in Japan think Mega Man's not popular in the west? WHO are these people and how can they possibly keep maintaining employment at the company? I remember when I was in grade school in the 80s/90s, almost all of the guys in my class played Mega Man games for the NES, it's ALWAYS been popular in the west. Shame Legends 3 never made it off the ground and Universe could have been an amazing spiritual successor to Powered Up.

Back in 2004, Atomic Planet's STUPIDITY in mapping shoot to the A button and jump to B for GC Mega Man Anniversary Collection infuriated me (years later it still blows my mind anybody would be so brain dead as to think that was a good idea as a default control scheme for ports of classic NES games and on top of that NOT even have the decency to include an optional control menu) so instead of playing the game with the garbage controls Capcom and Atomic Planet were trying to force on me, I decided to get off my butt and do something about it and had a Gamecube Hori pad modded with a reverse A/B switch so I could play with proper jump 'n shoot. I still have it, great all around controller. Eat this, schmucks at Capcom and Atomic Planet, NOBODY ruins my enjoyment of a game purchase:

This post sums up my feelings about Mega Man for the past 10+ years. So much potential, squandered.

Indeed. And MM Universe could have been reallly interesting if just to see how it would've stacked up to LBP.

And the thing about GC MM Anniversary Collection jump 'n shoot fiasco that made it so much more irritating was the fact I waited months and months for that compilation, all through several delays only to find out about the controls being reversed when it was finally released. "Hey Gamecube fans! We're FINALLLY releasing MM Anniversary Collection! We don't think the reversed crapppy controls which ruin the enjoyment of these classic games are a big deal. Oh, but in case you're interested, the PS2 version has proper NES controls!" That sure was a nice, ice cold slap in the face. So consider my modded Hori controller pics above an eight years later shout out to Capcom and Atomic Planet's incompetence. It made me feel really good at the time and still does.

Archie comic issue #15 preview.

"The "Spirit ex Machina" storyline is approaching its climax in #15, as Mega Man, Pharaoh Man, Elec Man, and the original character Quake Woman must disable bombs planted inside the Advanced Robotics Trade Show to prevent the deaths of all the robots in attendance as well as their creators. All the while, they have to avoid harming the human Emerald Spears terrorists behind the whole operation." DTOID

I don't consider the Archie Mega Man series to quite be Megamix / Gigamix tier, but it's still pretty damn amazing. There are so many shout-outs and nods to fan artists and other Capcom titles.

For example, in the first issue, Neige from Mega Man Zero 4 was among the group of reporters at Light's presentation. In the next issue, the heroes from Forgotten Worlds were among the soldiers trying to fight off the Robot Masters.

Oh, and lyrics from this song.

As much as I love Mega Man, Udon is the only one to keep that love alive with all the art books, and Archie for the awesome comic series we have so far, because let's be honest. Not much can be expected out of Mega Man 25th outside of the soundtrack collection.

Whoa! I had no idea there was going to be a 25th anniversary rock album.

I love the 20th anniversary one. The Tomahawk Man and Shadow Man ones are really great.

Archie comic issue #15 preview.

I saw this in my local anime shop and was about to flip. It sealed so I couldn't tell the art style or quality past the cover. When I did a search I noticed that this comic looks like the actual Archie comic but with a megaman theme to it.

No thanks.

Just wanted to express my love for the Blue Bomber, and the sadness over the complete lack of new games he's getting.

I have my favorites in his main series (MM2 and 3) but honestly, I love them all, even the much-bashed MM4 and 8. I just recently played through all of them, in order, and loved every minute of it.

As far as the MMX series is concerned, MMX1 is just about a perfect action/platformer in my eyes. MMX2, while lacking the freshness and (imo) nearly perfect level design of X1, is also fantastic, and is very nostalgic for me being that it's the first X game I actually owned; I rented and beat X1 about 4 times before I actually owned it. And finally, X4 is also amazing. I think it features some fantastic stages, and the experience of playing as X or Zero is quite different.

Here's to you MM, you still have fans out there. ;_;
