Thank god @ the no tearing, the tearing in that video was so bad it was making me sick.

I thought Darksiders 1 was ok, 7/10, but this looks way better. Still a bit annoyed they didn't decide to just start the story where we last left off, because somehow I doubt there will ever be a Darksiders 3, but it is what it is.

Diablo 3 style hardcore mode, here I come.

Well its confusing trying to reconcile these three things:

Where am I going wrong here? Is everybody on crazy pills?

I'm wondering why and how you would trade with other players in a game that has no multiplayer or co-op. Yeesh :)

Haha, I had the exact same reaction to the information. Its like you were posting for me.

Let's wait AFTER THQ bites the dust to see if Darksiders III will be made or not. And if II is successful, I'm confident we'll see it.

They imply it's the only 2 skill trees in the game.

Pretty sure there's more than just a Necromancer and Harbinger class in the game.

So glad I bought this from GMG. $37 for day 1 is INSANE. My console brethren will be paying $60 for a lesser experience. So stoked for this, hope I can pick up DS1 for $5 during the steam sale (I might missed it though, gonna have to wait for a recap if so).

As long as we're talking about characters who we want to see again solely because of their voice work in the first game...SAMAEL.

You will be pleased, then.

Spoiler:
You actually fight him in Darksiders II.

That's all there is. It's been said in interviews and shown in videos. Game Informer even talked about it. I'm sure the weapons and armor side bonuses will add enough extra variety. Such as
The gauntlets that shoot fireballs as your normal melee attack

Really hoping this is successful for THQ, I want to see a Darksiders 3, I WANT TO KNOW HOW IT ENDS DAMMIT!

Will be pre-ordering this for PC in the next couple of days and then eagerly watching the count-down clock with my controller in hand until it comes out :p

Loot? How is there loot? Will the mechanics be different from the first? IE: Zelda where a limited amount of items had special purposes for progressing through the game.

Oh, just saw that Darksiders 1 is $5 on GMG right now, and its a steam key of course. Newly interesteds, by it there if you don't wanna wait for it to come up during the steam sale.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Man. Darksiders had such an amazing "AMERICA FUCK YEAH" kind of ending. Hope Darksiders 2 has that part in there too, not as the ending, cause I wanna see what happened afterwards now.

why can't darksiders 2 show what happens after the darksiders 1 ending? just because it runs parallel doesn't mean it can't have an ending that goes beyond what we saw at the end of ds1

The puzzles killed the last game for me. I'll probably wait until this one hits the BB. I'm sure the puzzles will be an even bigger waste of time in the sequel.

The game's length is also a bit of a turn-off. They couldn't make a game 1/2 the length compelling all the way through, so why should the 2nd be any different?

I'm not an NPC. And neither are we.

Pretty sure in some videos they have said most of the game is during DS1, that implies we get to see what happens after the end of DS2, unless they mean some of it happens before DS1.

I'm really looking forward to this one. First one was great and this seems to expand significantly.

I really like the Zelda mechanics combined with better-than-Zelda fighting, and the grittier storyline is a plus, too.

I'm a fan of Zelda, but Skyward Sword felt waaaay to "kiddie" for me - the handholding was incredibly annoying, the combat was not fun (for me), and it felt rehashed with the forced revisiting of environments. Boring overworld... I realize this may be a touchy subject so I'll let it go, all my opinion of course.

Darksiders gave me what I didn't even know I was looking for. They took the Zelda formula (I.e. dungeons have new items, bosses, etc.) and coupled it with fun fluid combat and a great story. Cool environments, enemies, dungeons, bosses, items, etc. I loved it. I'm glad SOMEBODY made a "Zelda-like" for those of us who grew up loving it but aren't (obviously) little kids anymore.

And now there's loot!? Day 1. (on Wii U) =)

I hope this doesn't start anything either, but I just have to say:

Zelda's dungeons are way better designed.

True, but the first game was Vigil's first game ever. Even though I think Darksiders is one of the most overrated games of the generation, it's still a very impressive first outing for a new studio. I really like the direction they're taking the sequel, beefing up the combat and loot aspects rather than being a straight Zelda clone like the first game, so I'm in on day one.

Ordered Darksiders 1 from Amazon and it gets here Wednesday. Definitely pre-ordering this if I like the first one. The PoP/GoW/Diablo/Zelda combo almost seems too good to be true. If Vigil executes then this could easily be one of the greatest games this gen.

So this is basically God of War meets Zelda meets Price of Persia meets Diablo?

shut-up-and-take-my-money.jpg

Add Legacy of Kain vibes to that, combined with DMC, combined with some of the best voice acting i have heard in recent memory and you have Darksiders.
The first one look incredible on a pc maxed out (with forced AA and AF) , some of the areas have jaw dropping art ^^

I picked up the first Darksiders back in April for $10. Playing through it has converted me to a day one buyer of Darksiders 2, just an all around great game and I'm more than happy to fork over $60 to support it. This new info makes it even easier to justify, everything sounds fantastic.

I'll wait for the price drop because it's silly to buy anything full price that I won't play immediately.

Honestly, I think anyone remotely interested in the game or the continuation of the series should buy it day one. I think it's pretty much clear from the boost of preorders to limited that they're relying VERY much on day one sales to get some money in the coffers and get a picture of the future of the brand.

EDIT:

Spot on. Game's got a HEAVY LoK vibe with more than a dash of Borderlands/Diablo looting.

Darksiders overrated!? If anything, it's underrated! A lot of people turn a blind eye on this game only because of the art style. It's not a perfect game, but it's a great one.

I had been planing on holding off on this for the Wii U version, but I can't see that happening. I see a potential double dip on the horizon.

This sounds fantastic, but it also sounds like a completely fucking different game than Darksiders 1.

Loot/Leveling/Inventory/Customization might make it sound like it, but the actual gameplay remains pretty much the same with improvements.

It's just getting its own identity. Which is good.
