Why do Presidents and Presidential candidates look so bad in jeans?

This is one of my favorite pics of John Kerry.
Pretty much defines him- from his jeans to the way he throws a football. The man isn't a real American.

Because they're old men and we're used to see them in fancy suits?

and they don't know anything about fashion, I don't think they look that bad

Yeah the big issue is you can tell most are out of their element cause they get the big baggier jeans and frankly jeans arent supposed to be ultra baggy.

I know they pay people thousands of dollars to say hey this makes you more relatable to the common man but damn get some fashion sense involved

Not only the fucking old people jeans, but also those sneakers underneath :/

Presidents should be held accountable for this crap they're pulling. It's a crime on society

That's because American men tend to have a terrible sense of style or wear clothes that don't probably fit, they're just mimicking the populous.

I don't get it. Obama is usually pretty stylish, I don't know why he wears such shitty jeans.

Bulbo, you're nuts on Romney vs Kerry, they both look like they're wearing stupidly expensive jeans and really similar to each other. In fact, it looks like they're even wearing the same belt in the left Romney picture.

Bush and Reagan are both pulling it off, going the cowboy route helps. Clinton just looks really old.

I've been into fashion more and more recently and I notice that political figures practically always look terrible when they're not in their inauguration-ready power suits. I guess that's largely on purpose like others have said but it does make me think 'come on dude, I know you can have one of your guys stop by Banana Republic or something for you one day'.

What the fuck does mom jeans even mean. I'm pretty serious when I say I can't really pinpoint why some of the presidents look good, and other don't. I can tell Obama's jeans are horrible, but I don't know why. Are the legs too short? Too light?

So... scrolling through, it looks like Republican candidates look OK in jeans and Democrats don't... not saying anything politically, just making an observation.

Republicans:
Bush - Bad ass
Reagan - Swag
Romney - OK

Democrats:
Obama - No
Clinton - OK at best
Kerry - Nobama

Someone's gotta find a pic from someone on the left lookin' BA in jeans... off to Google.

Northeastern rich dudes (and a preppy black guy) don't look good in jeans. News at 11.

Bush is definitely the best in recent memory, well, just because he's a freakin cowboy. Boots, boot cut, kick ass belt buckle

Also, dont tuck your shirt in when wearing jeans.

When you're trying to be fashionable you don't have to tuck, but when you're actually working in jeans you tuck because don't want your shirt to get caught in anything.

Bush looks good because he's a real cowboy. I think he's quite handsome.

These are one and the same. Bush is actually the most obvious exception to your first statement.

Those are Magnum P.I. jeans. Bet both of those guys watched a lot of Magnum P.I.

W looks like he's wearing what men of his age might actually wear in Texas. Romney and Obama are dressed as suburban dads.

Yeah, well, ya know that's just, like, (yadda yadda)

pretty sure he just fishes for that quote in every thread
