Said it earlier, but for DM and the other new arrivals:

1. Bale
2. Hathway
3. Caine

Agree/disagree?

I'd put Hathaway and Caine both at second place, they were both REALLY good and I can't decide who was better. Bale surprisingly had the best performance in the film (I never really liked Bale in the previous films, I mean he was passable but he wasn't amazing or anything. In this film though he was excellent imo.)

Only problem I had with Hathaway was that I just don't see her as Catwoman, physically. But she was surprisingly good and liked her far more than I thought I would.

Yep. Best performances.

Hmm...Caine had little screen time and he got the most emotional reaction outta me. The argument on the stairs and the crying at the Wayne parents' grave. I was on the verge of... "EYES...DON'T YOU DO IT!!! DON'T DO EEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!"

Bale was way better than he was in TDK but not as good as he was in BB...and Hathaway...hmmm...I guess I liked her ok.

I will say that Freeman and Oldman's performances felt like they were on autopilot.

100% agree. Caine went back in time and remembered he was not only a good actor, but a great actor. This was Bale's best performance in the series. And Anne Hathaway...I kinda want more Selina Kyle now. I don't know about a movie because it's too easy to fuck up, but at least a 15 min short film or something lol.

I think honorable mention goes to JGL. I was really digging his character.

Yeah, Caine brought the fire. Hathaway was obviously having a fun time. And Bale was back to his BB self. Even better.

I'd put Hathaway above Bale. Hathay's performance was only below Ledger in TDK and Caine in the first two movies for me.

For the series:
1. Ledger
2. Hathaway
3/4. Caine 1 and 2
5. Bale TDKR
6-8. Oldman
9-10. Bale 1 and 2

The whole series is tough. You've got Bale, Ledger, Neeson and Eckhart duking it out.

I will say, though, that it felt a LOT different than I expected it to. That's not bad; but some things just felt more like a ... different movie... than I was anticipating. I don't know what it is, but it was just weird. Again, not bad, but... gah, I wish I could put my finger on it.

I just went with it, but dumb-ass question of the night: Why was Bruce all handicapped at the beginning? I don't get it? Just worn out from being Batman in the last two films? Or did something happen that I didn't catch on to?

All three films feel pretty different in my opinion, but at the same time they all feel connected enough to be part of a trilogy. The opening certainly felt different from what I was expecting as well, but like you I don't think this is a bad thing.

Also, Batman had it pretty rough in the last stretch of TDK; he was stabbed and beaten by the Joker then shot by Harvey and fell a couple stories onto the pavement. As others have noted, he was limping back to the Batpod so I guess that plus all the other damage he did to his body probably got to him. I'm no expert, but suddenly going to a sedentary lifestyle probably didn't do his body any wonders either.

Am I the only one who found it odd just how much about Ra's Al Ghul Alfred was and how he seemed to know even more than Bruce did at the start?

It just felt kinda weird.
No, you are not the only one and in response to that;
I'm not sure why Alfred explaining Bane's profile to Bruce was ridiculous? Isnt Alfred using Bruce's systems in TDK? I mean he was already shown to be familiar with Bruce's tap into Gotham PD's servers and the rest of the Gotham databases, pulling up data and repeating it to Bruce doesnt make Alfred a Lucius. He was just being Bruce's Siri.

Ok so Solo I just made a connection in my head and I don't get it. The three things I know you for your love of are Habs, Veronica Mars, and this series. Habs is a personal problem, but I don't get how you can reconcile the other two. For me, Veronica Mars does the detective work EXCELLENTLY but for the life of it can't do personal relationships. I wanted to kill the characters every time they were dealing with romantic relationships, but the mysteries were always well put together, both long term and in each episode. The Nolan series is completely the opposite. The character moments are amazing and the relationships are deep and meaningful, but dear god is the mystery/detective storyline abysmal. Thoughts?

Shit. Forgot Eckhart. He probably comes in just below Ledger. Neeson unfortunately falls out of the top 10 for me.

It's good to know that Bruce had a spare TDK batsuit in the ContainerCave after he returned to Gotham post-imprisonment. That would've been the most logical place for Nolan and crew to have shoehorned in a different batsuit. I'm glad they resisted.

I did secretly hope that he'd return to the BB suit for the final battle though, as impractical as that would be.

1. Habs rock.
2. I fundamentally disagree with you about the relationships in (S1) VM. THey anchored the whole show. Veronica and Keith, man.

Someone compared TDKR to an old roller coaster that could easily fall apart at any moment, that's perfect. A lot of the things in the movie shouldn't work (and some of it doesn't), but it just comes together so well in the end.

Yeah, there is a reason I haven't mentioned those two. Freeman isn't given a lot to do, and Oldman went from being the unsung hero in TDK to kind of going through the motions.

I loved the scene between him and JGL right after Bane read's Gordon's resignation letter though.

In terms of length I'll agree that Wayne's romantic interests didn't feel like they got enough development. I also personally felt like they kinda threw away Talia. I was pumped expecting her to be in the movie. I'm not that great a judge on movies but I wouldn't mind a Blu-Ray with like 20 more minutes or something.

Sculli mentioned that too, and in thinking about it....definitely a missed opportunity for something awesome. Bane has stolen/destroyed all Bruce's gear....except the original suit. Would have been an amazing sight to see him in that BEAST of a suit again.

She toed the line between nefarious villain, seductress, and thief-with-a-heart-of-gold wonderfully. She brought a ton of spark to the role, and I felt Catwoman was really nailed as the embodiment of an anti-hero.
also brought that "catty" like attitude without ever making it cheesy or corny, not even for a second. Really was perfect.

Actually TAS was what always made me believe that Bruce could find happiness and put aside this life.

It was kind of the point of Mask of the Phantasm, that he had a chance for happiness but it was taken away from him again

Then there was the TNBA episode where he literally hangs up Batman so that he can marry the love of his life.. who ends up being a poison ivy construct.

... You know, I think you're right.

I should amend that to just being about the comics, then.

Yeah!

Oh, hold on, obligatory: full circle/poetry.

Can't remember the last time a movie made my nerves as bad as this one. It was relentless

Not for nothing but I think one can make the argument that Bane had a bigger presence than Joker. He exceeded my expectations

You are riding alone on the TDKR is a mess buggy tho.

I don't think I am. I think pretty much everybody accepts that there are a huge number of flaws in the film. Don't make the mistake of thinking that because I say there are a lot of flaws that I think it's a bad movie. Like I've said before, I really enjoyed the film. The reason I get a bit nitpicky is because in looking at the story they were telling, the film could have been absolutely GREAT, as opposed to good. Those are the types of films I will always talk the most about because I see what they could have been.

I think many people agree that TDKR has a lot of problems but still manages to be a hell of a ride despite them.

I felt Warner is trying to find out if there is an audience for a Robin flick.

This is true. I was amazed by Hathaway's performance, I almost fell in love. But the chemistry or rather development between her and bats was kinda lacking I thought.

As for Talia, I didn't see it coming. I did find it weird if Bane really was Ra's son, but sometimes movies make slight adjustments so I kind of took it for granted there.

I really wish they had left the "Robin" outta the film.

I thought the way they weaved JGL in as a partner for Bruce without actually giving him an origin or buildup was great as executed.

The fan service was a little much.

Also, it would have been amazing if Nolan had introduced Talia earlier in the trilogy, perhaps in TDK as a member of Wayne Corp that was set in the background. Even building the relationship with her and Wayne and making her the person Bruce fell for directly after losing Rachel, making it all more heartbreaking when she turns on him in TDKR.

TDKR really feels like 2 movies edited down into one.

THERE BETTER BE AN EPIC DIRECTORS CUT NOLAN. 40+ MINS LONGER.

I know it will never happen, but of there was ever a Nolan movie that I felt would be even better with an extended cut, it would be this one. Some people have said the film was too long, but I think the opposite.

So is there going to be another movie in this series. Directed by someone else? Or is this the end?

Do you guys seriously want another sequel? Despite me not being satisfied with the ending I really don't want to downplay all the events that went in TDKR which a sequel will inevitably do.
