Gunman kills twelve at theater in Aurora Colorado

I'm starting to believe the spitting stories. Too many people are leaving police custody telling the same exact story that the chief of police denied. CNN still is reporting it, and now ABC are as well. There's more than likely a lot of truth to it.

When was the mugshot taken? Is it usually immediately after the arrest or later?

I am having a hard time getting around all the recent Bale news posts..but how did it end? Did he run out of ammo or will power? How did they arrest him outside? How did he not injure more people and how did he not get killed himself?

His AR-15 assault rifle jammed and he went out to his car to get more stuff when his other ammo depleted. He was arrested at his car and surrendered without incident. Since he was unarmed when apprehended and gave up peacefully, there was no reason (legally) to kill him.

I don't think this was mentioned yet, but I just heard on the AP radio news that a possible motive may have been the fact he was failing and/or flunked at school which is around the time he withdrew.

That's what I've been hearing too but I'm just repeating what I heard come through AP news a few minutes ago. I'll try and find a link to this if I can.

Its been known from day 1 that he was failing. That doesnt mean its a motive for the shooting, it could have been the other way around

I've only heard that he was top of the class and had received/was receiving honors.

Anyways, I found one article that mentions he failed an oral exam on June 7th of this year.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation...holmes-colorado-university-studies/56444742/1

The preliminary exam, given orally by three professors, is designed to determine a student's basic knowledge and possible weaknesses, not weed anyone out, the officials said. The school would have provided remedial work and retesting if Holmes had sought help, Shur said. But after apparently failing June 7, he dropped out three days later. Campus Police Chief Doug Abraham said Holmes' school identification cards, which provide access to its facilities, were voided June 12.

School officials would not say whether faculty contacted Holmes after his departure, but Shur said he never received forms from Holmes with an explanation for dropping out. "My understanding is he partially completed the forms but did not fill in his reason for leaving the program," Shur said.

School officials repeatedly deflected questions about Holmes' academic performance and details after he dropped out June 10, citing the ongoing criminal investigation into the case, but acknowledged it was unusual to quit.

Also, about that memorial outside the theatre, where the names of victims are written on small crosses..

Something the man wo put that memorial up said irked me. "We know he did it, lets just go on it with and kill him. I'll hang him myself". Not very Christian of you, mister.

Really? I didn't know how he was caught. I can't believe he went back to his car like he left his phone in it. "hey guys, be right back!"

Honeslty, this makes him sound even sicker in my books.

Not to be a jerk, but that's very Christian of him unfortunately.

Gun sales in Colorado have gone up 43% since the shooting

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-18980974

After Obama was elected there was such a lengthy run on ammunition that it was actually difficult to find any and what you did find was 200-400% of its normal price.

Any rhetoric regarding possible bans/additional regulation will drive up gun sales. Add to that the e-mails forwards about the UN small arms treaty and you hive a recipe for higher gun sales.

An AR-15 is not an assault rifle. An assault rifle must be capable of automatic fire.

“Inside the package was a notebook full of details about how he was going to kill people,” the source told FoxNews.com. “There were drawings of what he was going to do in it -- drawings and illustrations of the massacre."

Among the images shown in the spiral-bound notebook’s pages were gun-wielding stick figures blowing away other stick figures.

So if the FOXs news story is to be believed, he wasn't sitting out back waiting to be arrested. He was surprised by the quick response of the police.

Wow. This could all have been prevented if it ended up in the right hands.

Depends on how long they had it. Seems like there's a question about when it was delivered. He could have timed the delivery to occur just after the event took place.

From what I just heard on the radio, it had arrived July 12th! To think that if someone had found this package even a day before, this whole thing would have probably been prevented.. No words for this... :( (assuming that date is accurate)

But he started planning this well before he sent that notebook.

Seems more like a deliberate attempt to cover his bases.

If it arrived well before, that will help his defense if he goes for insanity. Classic cry for help. Stop me before I kill, ect.

If it didn't, then it's just more bragging.

Actually that will hurt his defense. "Stop me before I kill" = "I know what I'm doing is wrong, but I'm going to do it anyway"

Is it really wrong of me to want someone to interview him so that we could get more information on a:

- Motive.
- History of his life through his perspective.

I don't know, I just would like to learn more about the guy. #MorbidCuriosity

If it did arrive before, I'm thinking more like "please help me. I can't help myself. I'm about to do this awful thing."

Then he gets no response (obviously) and thinks to himself "no one cares I guess.. well time to go through with it. maybe then they'll pay attention to me"

or something like that

I don't know why anyone is even bothering to discuss what hurts or helps his case. This is not the kind of situation where the outcome is unknown in any way. He will be in prison the rest of his life.

To be quite honest, I can't blame him. If it was your friend, boyfriend/girlfriend, son or daughter, a parent, spouse, etc. you know what you'd feel like doing. You'd want to murder the bastard with your own two hands.

Yeah, he's toast. Now it's just a matter of where he ends up - prison for life, mental ward for life, electric chair.

Unfortunately what all of this stuff is doing is aiding lawyers in creating frivolous lawsuits to get rich quick off a tragedy. We saw the first sign of that yesterday.

Who gives a shit if it was Christian of him? He wants the guy dead. What's your point?

I'll also hang him myself, and I wasn't even there.
