Halo 2 is ridiculous on legendary solo. Never even got past Cairo Station...

The trick with Cario is to abuse the catwalks and boxes in the main hangers and keep backtracking for nades.

Sniper alley in outskirts is horrible but can be avoided.

The sniper near the start of Delta Halo is a dick.

The real problems come about when you have to fight regret and Tartarus because they both take about 20 mins to kill and you can near constantly be shot by brutes or honour guard elites during.

Biggy and ExWife's recount made me think of mine and Tuna's legendary run through of the game. The Library can be a WHOLE lot of fun with the right crew. That level gets thrown under the rug way too often!

Been driving all day but things of note: Computron's meltdown was excellent today and I'm going to see Batman for a third time in an hour.

I'm an excited boy!

How do you find TDKR the more you watch it? I feel like I appreciated it a lot more the first time, I still loved it the second time, but I feel that TDK is a better one for the rewatch.

I think I'm one of the few people here who doesn't care much for any of Halo 1's campaign nowadays, even without considering the Library. I'd much prefer to play Halo 3 campaign (sans Cortana) again. All of the battles and encounters feel so much more varied, well thought out and fun than Halo 1.

I really don't care for Reach campaign - it feels too much like Firefight in a lot of areas.

Halo 2 (fuck those boss battles)

From easiest to hardest for me solo:

ODST (massively skippable levels, without even using map escapes)
3 ( less skippable)
Reach (MOTHER FUCKING ZEALOTS)
1 (Fuck rocket flood)
Wars (Oh, this thing can one-shot the objective you have to protect? And we're going to use it 3 times? HAVE FUN)
2 (Fuck everything)

co-op:

Halo 1
3 / ODST / Reach in a tie
Wars
2 (Fuck everything, again)

Halo 1 Legendary is hard while still being fair. Probably the most enjoyable Halo game on Legendary for me.
Also, Halo 2 Legendary co-op has iron on doesn't it?

Only if it's good hard and not cheap hard.

Totally agree. Halo 2 is gimicky hard and not enjoyable. CE legendary felt perfect to me and almost the whole sandbox was still effective in some way.

Halo 2 legendary is exactly how hard I want H4 legendary to be.

Come at me bro's.

Noooooooo

With all the Halo games we've learned many tactics for how to approach fighting the Covenant on legendary. Now we have a completely new enemy. I am pretty sure the Prometheans will be tough as hell on legendary. I'm worried.

It's got to be hard for the right reasons. Halo 2 was hard because the enemies dealt so much damage you felt downright fragile, while they became damage sponges. Also, Jackal snipers.

For me, Halo 3 was perfect on Legendary with a couple skulls toggled on (Thunderstorm, Tilt). The AI was tough but fair.

I'll never forget my first battle with the Hunters on the first mission of ODST. Those things chased me around and through the courtyard a dozen times before I dropped them. I want to feel that kind of terror at an enemy appearance again, but the sandbox in Halo 4 will likely preclude it.

Funny story (well, in my opinion) about me playing this game. I bought it (First CoD I bought myself, actually) and immediately played the campaign co-op with my clanmates. So we're doing good and everything, and we get to near the end, where you're playing as the Russians storming the Reichstag.

We clear out the outside area, and I'm chilling behind cover. My buddies are all over on one side, I'm on the other. They've already played through the campaign.

"Uh, Fyre, you might want to get over here."

"Why? They're coming out over there. I'm over here. I'm doing good."

CE is pretty easy if you use the plasma pistol the whole time. It is the weapon of the game. It saved my ass against the covenant every time.

Reach was pretty easy. DMR + PP combo makes it easy. The Firefight parts were the only where I wanted to throw the controller to the ground. Especially the final one at Pillar Of Autumn. (And especially if you had not known the secret ammo supply trick)

Halo 3 was pretty okay. But I do not like some parts. ( Covenant - the Wraith section in front of the first tower etc.)

Halo 2 is not that bed. You just need the PP and BR for the Elites. And you have to know where the Snipers are. Still I am frustrating at the Flood section now. Sigh.

I hope Halo 4 is going to be a mix of 3 and CE.

Fuck all of CoD's Veteran difficulty settings

in fact, fuck CoD
This. The endless spawns of enemy who are only shooting at you is so frustrating. It is not tough or something. It's just unfair and shitty.

I had completely forgotten until just now that you could play the campaign Co-Op.

Why didn't I remember this?

I have to go do it now!

Edit: I will say that my 1000/1000 in CoD4 is one of my proudest achievements. Fuck all the recent games for adding extra achievements and shit that make them go over 1,000.

And hey, Halo 4? Don't add a bunch of achievements like, "hey, get a double kill from the grave with a plasma grenade on this one map that you might play once or twice after it's released and then never again!"

Fuck multiplayer achievements in general. I don't want to do anything that requires other human people in order to earn an achievement. Unless it involves my friends, because then I can do it co-op, and that's fine.

Can't wait to see the hunters in H4 (hoping they're in).

In terms of ODST, the first mission. That hunter encounter was indeed brilliant. I still remember the gold one following me inside a building.

The sheer terror that followed...

Outside of the Halo series, what game has that?

I've been replaying Crysis 1 and warhead, which are commonly held up on GAF for their AI, but left feeling unimpressed. Crysis 2 is like playing god with the suit so I treat it like completely different category of game.

I can't think of any interesting AI singleplayer FPSes off the top of my head and I need something to play.

Perfect Dark.

XBLA version is 10$. It's basically an entirely different game from when you play it on Agent to when you play it on Perfect Agent.

I remember that I went into a Building and it was there waiting for me. Scariest moment in a Halo game.

Hunters should be able to run faster that you are when running backwards. They also need to be able to easily punch people in close range, even when they're behind it. Being up close should mean death when fighting against Hunters. That would make them a much more threatening enemy. In ODST you can just punch Hunters in the back until they fall over without much trouble.

I should be more clear, combat AI like flanking and squad behavior is what I mean.

I have that game, (we should play that sometime) but it never gave me the impression of a tactically impresive AI especially given that they don't have the best maps or sandbox IMO. They do have a cool feel to the combat with all the animations and reactivity and I do like the idea of changing/additional mission objectives on higher difficulties though.

Well yeah, they didn't have the memory on the N64 to have enough enemies to do flanking :p

The AI in Rage seems pretty cool.

I think if Halo 4's legendary is as hard as H2, then it will be extremely hard. Those prometheans that can teleport to you will be a bitch to beat.

I thought the Brutes had a stale quality to them and were too easy of an opponent. The only dynamic they really brought to the table was their use of equipment. All the agileness and battlefield cunning I felt that the Elites brought to the table in CE, was replaced by bullet sponges in the Brute gameplay of Halo 3. I really appreciated the concept art and cannon of the Brutes and even somewhat enjoyed them in Halo 2, but overall I think Brutes were implemented wrong in 3. I originally imagined them very differently than the rhino monkeys they were finally fleshed out as.

The animations and the way they will react to your shots are undeniably awesome. Best feel in any game, but they seemed even less 'sophisticated' than in PD where you can at least have stealth and other interesting mechanics. Rage is just enemies running into my wingstick blender.

seriously, by the time I got to the second disc (PC), I could craft enough wingsticks to the point that it was all I used until the end.

Damn, your making me wanna get my campaign on. Anyone up for Halo 3 Co-Op sometime this week/right now?

Other than the 3 different snipers in the game, what do you think would prevent such encounters from happening?

This post isn't long enough. Describe it in great detail.
It was mostly about how making Halo 4 is like making a movie, there's motion capture, sets, artists, etc. It goes over how the score was recorded at Abbey Road. Then goes on to say that unlike a movie, you can experience Halo 4 in different ways, so it's pretty cool.

There is some new environments shown, what looks like some new campaign cinematics, but the clips were all so short for me not to really be able to tell what they are or really remember them in much detail. There were some people talking, what looked like that kid from the live action Halo thing, but grown up. I think there was a new view of the Mammoth (or whatever it's actually called) from the top, some vehicle fighting (tanks, warthogs, ghosts, and wraiths), a new clips of Chief firing an AR (I think it was new, but I'm not sure).

I thought about filming it on my phone, but I was with my dad and he's a lawyer so I would have gotten shit for it.

Also, no Frankie or David sightings :(

One thing I really hate about REACH SP on legendary is how the covenant have faster fire rate then you can with their weapon. So cheap....

So at the beach I saw the dark knight rises and guess what trailer I got to see before the movie... Black ops 2 of course, didn't even get to see the halo 4 first look trailer :(

Also got another snipers 50 in halo 3 today lol. (would of loved to experience ranking up in h2 because it seemed to be much much much harder to get a 50)

Lastly OT, I don't know why everyone is talking about boss battles in halo 2 when the hardest thing to deal with for me in h2 campaign were the jackal snipers. Those jackals could of put the ogres to shame with their sniping ability..

I enjoyed the Brute pack AI in Halo 3. One on one, aside from Chieftains, they were not threatening or particularly interesting. But there were many encounters where the pack dynamic played out in ways that were unpredictable and challenging in ways the rest of the games never were. The hallway/barracks fights in Crow's Nest highlighted that element well.

That's one of the reasons the Brutes in Reach are so disappointing; the pack AI is gone. They're just a bunch of solo enemies again.
