NPD July 2012 Sales Results [Up3: 3DS Hardware Correction - 124K+]

Vita has sold 863k in Japan meaning it outsold VB entirely in one territory alone. The only comparable flop the VB is the Ngage

That would be PSP levels after it crashed in the west.

I actually know people who owned ngages can't say the same for vita

Vita so far is struggling to reach the levels the crashed PSP did

BREAKING or not
Vita < 50k

Just wow

I thought the Vita would stabilize a bit and couldn't just head downward forward, guess I was wrong. Assassin's Creed is pretty much it to save the platform.

Man, I am so glad I finally got a PC that can game. I can't believe we've got to go another 18 months or so at least with the 360/PS3.

And Vita, lol. It's going to be fun snapping up every game for the system I can over the next year or so at bargain prices.

chubigans

y'all should be ashamed
Eh, it's pretty much expected at this point. Hardly any (no?) Vita ads, no real system sellers, expensive, in a turbulent market where even the 3DS is selling poorly, and boom, <50k.

I'll be shocked if this is the lowest it'll go this year.

It'll drop again next month then is September a 5 week month? If so that might bump it a couple of k if its lucky

Yeah Sony and MS, releasing your new consoles in 2014 is a great idea.

If money is still being made I don't see the issue.

Almost everyone here has a giant backlog, and there are a whole bunch of big new games in the pipeline for October and November. That's forgetting Arcade and PSN.

Why the haste for new games and consoles?

We have more than enough right now and coming to last even long time gamers for a few years yet.

fuck

that's less than 12.5k a week. I wonder if it broke the doom threshold <10k a week.

He didn't say it was <40K, so presumably not.

Sub 100k numbers won't happen in those months but under 200k in them is looking a distinct possibility

<200K in November/December? Wouldn't that be the equivalent of, say, <30K in a typical month? Lord knows I'm not sanguine about the system's prospects, but I have a hard time envisioning it doing that badly over the holidays... though if retailers aren't given cause to order many, who knows?

Fantastical

Death Prophet
Wow at those Vita sales. :( Sad. The Vita space in a local Gamestop is in the very back corner and it's super small. I went today to look around. It used to be in the front of the store.

Well there is Madden next month if anyone would want that. It will probably still drop. Septemer has LBP though...

With Wii U and iPad Mini launching for the holidays I'm not sure who's going to be buying a Vita. I say sub 200k is a strong possibility without a pricecut.

If anything is going to save the Vita in the US, and bear with me on this one, is Madden. The 20 - 30 somethings that commute to work are going to want it.

I'll be shocked if this is the lowest it'll go this year.

The only month where it could do worse is August, but somehow I doubt that.

September is 5 months. October actually has some decent releases for it, plus it's usually a bigger month history wise. November and December, well I don't need to explain those.

I see titles that'll do well on the NPD because of combined sku, nothing that'll move Vita. Maybe Little Big Planet but I really doubt it.

They didn't want it on their PSPs they won't want it on their Vita's

Retailers will be thinking right now about their Xmas orders, if you were a retailer would you order any vitas in?

Welcome beautful toddler, Madison Elizabeth, to the horde!
Great device, wrong era. Sony's name isn't as strong in the marketplace as it used to be and there are too many other things that the average consumer can spend their money on. I'm a gamer, I buy virtually everything. Not everyone can do that. I love my Vita to death, day one purchaser here. However, I hear a concert with a fat lady singing.

This is the US, those 20-30 somethings that commute to work are doing it while driving a vehicle.
