So are they actually finally done with that shit? Or will she be a terrible human being next week as well?

And I'm a wrong to think she's a terrible human being? lol

I need something new to #hatewatch. Newsroom and SAO have just entered "it's bad" territory. :(

I hope so. I believe Ranmaru will be a key character that leads to Ichiko's much needed change.

Firehawk's existential crisis with a protagonist who inspires potentially misogynistic feelings really makes me want to see his reaction to Darker than Black.

And yeah, that's pretty sexist if you can handle Gintoki but not Ichiko.
Nice edit. lol

And Gintoki doesn't actively suck as much. Maybe I'm okay with lethargy because it's not as aggressively offensive as being someone who manipulates people and actively works to humiliate, mock, and otherwise destroy and shit on them.

Or maybe both sins are equal. I dunno. lol

This is something that they should have accepted as the given result to before the series even began! They were already violating the golden rule of harem protagonists by giving Koyomi a defined personality, but to actually make him attractive too? They couldn't piss on the insecurities of otaku more if they tried.

I guess they still ate it up in huge numbers in the end...

How can you even begin to explain nerds?!

It had a loli vampire. It was going to sell 40k automatically!

It's okay, man. Gintoki is a likeable character, Ichiko isn't. It's as simple as that, no need to drag other considerations like gender into it.

We really need some defined ironclad ground rules on when it is and isn't acceptable to say "bitch" so that firehawk doesn't melt into a puddle of self-loathing every time he dislikes a female character in the future.

Is there a Mumei signal?

Looking at the changes they seem to be like most SHAT background changes: one set of backgrounds is replaced by a completely different set of background. Neither background is more detailed or complicated, they're both pretty shitty. Just seems like SHAFT don't know anything about background art.

That's what I was saying earlier.
Shaft's strong suit is not backgrounds.

This is what happens when you feel creatively validated by sales.

Dat blond KeiMarie. Hopefully she
ends up accompanying the 4 on their inevitable flight back to Japan as she seems to want to run away from domaine and the shit that comes with it and what better way to run away than going overseas!
Watching that tremendous piece of shit that is Haruka's fiance get owned by Marie and co was cathartic as hell. The scene at the end was
pretty ominous though. :(

Oh and the new background art style really is a perfect fit for rural france.

And remember kids:

You'd best be believin' in nerds.

You are one.
as are we all who sail upon Davy Jones' Basement, ololol

Shame on you for so easily forgetting the non-success of Dance in the Vampire Bund! Mina Tepes was basically Shinobu and it didn't do the show any favors.

So what's the point? To make people feel uncomfortable with hating women and question their own belief-system? Because, well, job well done then!

I was joking. You're supposed to sympathize with her, but still see her as a goddamn piece of shit bitch (see, I'm not afraid to say it). Her purpose is to both be a straight man and a foil to Momiji.

Binbougami ga is a series like Gintama in that when the funny parts happen, it is generally unimportant to the plot and even ignores character development. You shouldn't be judging her based on an "all's well that ends well" tsundere oujo laugh, you should be judging her on
actually wavering to save Ranmaru because of her selfish tendency of not getting close to people
, leaving you wondering just how damaged she is (which by the way extends beyond what we've seen in episode 8).

It's best not to take it too seriously.

So are they actually finally done with that shit? Or will she be a terrible human being next week as well?

And I'm a wrong to think she's a terrible human being? lol(

She's still a bitch, but you can definitely notice a change in her actions and the facade growing weaker. Unfortunately, we won't get to the point where she flat out says
"I care about people now and am happy to have friends"
in the anime (which happens shortly after where it will probably end).

Nah, she's pretty terrible.

Being a horrible person who occasionally does not-horrible things still makes you mostly horrible.
It's okay, man. Gintoki is a likeable character, Ichiko isn't. It's as simple as that, no need to drag other considerations like gender into it.
Okay, at least it's not just me that genuinely dislikes her. lol

I hope so. I believe Ranmaru will be a key character that leads to Ichiko's much needed change.
I hope so. :p Then again, the show is almost over anyway.

Arguably it makes you more horrible because it means that you know what the right thing to do is but you don't do it.
You know, that's probably the main reason why I find her so infuriating. She chooses not to do the right thing even though she has gone through a "learning moment" at least 4 times.

Firehawk's existential crisis with a protagonist who inspires potentially misogynistic feelings really makes me want to see his reaction to Darker than Black.
One crisis is good enough, thanks!

Now would be a good time for undulation.gif but I don't have it. :|

I feel like when it's overly comedic or melodramatic, it's okay. Ace wo Nerae borders on self-parody at times, with how everyone craps on Oka. lol

Binbougama is such a weird edge case.

It's almost certainly a Gen Urobuchi show. Putting together everything I have dug up so far, the credits would probably look something like this:

Director: Naoyoshi Shiotani
Series Composition: Gen Urobuchi
Original Character Desgin: Akira Amano
Animation Character Design: Kyoji Asano
Animation Production: Wit Studio
Urobuchi?! Oh dear. Well, cosmic will probably like it. *cancels ticket for hype train*

Shaft already hit the loli vampire mark with Tsukuyomi Moonphase. No need to revisit it.

One of us! One of us!
Also, this loli-vampire can transform into non-loli. Instant hit!

That's the thing, aren't you supposed to like the straight-man? As it stands, I feel sorry for Momiji who has to put up with this shit week after week... when I assume I should be feeling sorry for Ichiko for having to suffer through Momiji's plans instead.

I can't even laugh at the comedy because I'm too busy hating her and everything she stands for. It's like if they made an anime comedy about Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. :(

And great,
so 4-5 more episodes of Ichiko being a "bitch", learning something, then reverting back to her normal self.
Maybe it's a test for people like me.

It's okay, I hate her too. I only appreciate her existence because of how well Momiji and the other oddball cast plays off of her. I know I'm not alone there.
How did the manga get away with this long enough to survive for an anime to be made. :p

Usually when a protagonist is unlikable, they're made to suffer over and over again to keep the audience coming back for more pseudo-torture porn. lol

For what reason are you watching the show? This reason matters a lot. If not, cajun and I might have to hurt you.

Haru can be a whiny shit but I don't think its bad enough to ruin Accel World.
There is lots to like about it.

the show at least entertaining , i just watched 4 eps , i like the setting and the characters , i was shocked when i saw the main character , i didn't mind him at all i just hated how he looks in the begging too short too fat , it's like he didn't believe some girl talked to him and went crazy with I'm a tool use me , I will be your soldier , thank you for looking at my direction /damn poor Haru

So, I don't know if it's wrong for me to dislike Ichiko because I'm afraid that I'm being sexist (it's probably the first time where I'm not comfortable using "bitch" to even joke about how I feel about her, as I would with characters from Ace wo Nerae or Oniisama e...).

I guess because of cosmic, I can't stop thinking of Gintama when thinking about this show, but even though Gintoki is a jerkass at times, he starts from a place that is fundamentally good. Ichiko is presumably coming from the same place, but whereas Gintoki's selfishness is likeable, her selfishness just makes her hate her even more.

I just can't stand her because she is so selfish. I don't care that she has "a past" that justifies her behaviour, the fact that she goes back to the same self-centered state at the end of every episode makes it very hard to find her sympathetic at all. They've emphasized that when shit hits the fan, she'll do the right thing, but the ease of which that she reverts to that "B-word" status is infuriating. I suppose Gintoki goes back to being a lazy, bill-dodging, degenerate reprobate the moment he's done saving the world, but with him I'm fine with that as a "mask" for his true self.

I dunno, maybe I am secretly sexist. But I suppose I should be happy that I can even try to articulate how I feel about watching this show.

I mean... I'm supposed to like Ichiko, right? That's the whole point of this manga/show, isn't it? She's the heroine/protagonist? I'm not supposed to think that she's the most vile, despicable person on the show, am I?

I suppose I should credit the show for making me experience an existential crisis anyway. lol
Why do you think you're being sexist? (Eh, nevermind. I read the top post on this page. I getcha)

I think both Momoji and Ichiko are assholes. They almost got Keita killed because of their stupid shit.

That's the thing, aren't you supposed to like the straight-man? As it stands, I feel sorry for Momiji who has to put up with this shit week after week... when I assume I should be feeling sorry for Ichiko for having to suffer through Momiji's plans instead.

Just because the unlikable protagonist isn't being tortured at every waking moment doesn't mean a work can't be good. I'm assuming it's popular because of the rest of the cast, which play off each other so damn well in both content and delivery that I'm surprised a few people are complaining.

Dammit, where's Articalys? Back me up on this, dude.

Even in their best productions, such as Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru, the background art is terrible.

It's not even that the background art is terrible, which it is, but its the implication (seemingly justified) that SHAFT don't even know what background art is for or how it should be used.

Clearly any moral crisis short of someone's life hanging in the balance isn't worth trifling with.

Binbougama is such a weird edge case.

A hardliner on this issue would argue that using the word in reference to a female is unacceptable in any circumstance because it's gendered regardless of the type of action that incurs the use of the term.

Just use it as your conscience dictates, hahah.

Urobuchi is easily the most well known writer in anime at the moment (that I can actually write that sentence is kind of amazing, isn't it?) so I imagine there'll be more people excited than just cosmic.

The only show where their lazy backgrounds really work is Hidamari Sketch because the minimalist and random abstract designs(accidentally?) complement the themes of the series.

Between Hidamari Sketch and Mami's room I'm going to have to go with 'accidentally'.

In Soredemo, the majority of the backgrounds are done with CG (the show reuses a few sets very frequently), which is a great way for them not to worry about what they're making.

Even if this were a Phoenix Wright anime penned by Shu Takumi himself, you still wouldn't watch it as it aired anyways.
