Taters gonna tate. It went better than expected.

Never seen a deal like that before, with one year as two-way and the next as a one-way. Real pleased.
Lack and his agent have both made it very clear that they understand the development path the Canucks have for him, and if it takes another year on the farm to ensure that he'll be fully ready for the NHL, then he's completely for it. I love that attitude. It also probably helps that Schneider followed that same path and became an immediate impact stud his first full season in the NHL.

Anytime a player wants to play here, and is willing to make concessions to do that, is alright by me.

Joey Mac had something similar with Detroit for last year and this year, though I think it might have been backwards in terms of one-way and two-way and what year they happened.

Schneider/Lack would be a pretty badass platoon for the Nucks.

Oh wait, I forgot that Schneider is going to crumble when he gets a starting position ;).

Apparently the Flyers have inquired about Alex Edler.

I don't even know who we'd want from them. Couturier? Kind of redundant considering we already have Gaunce in the system.

Uhmm one has already shown he could play in the NHL and be a very good one at that, and one just got drafted late in the 1st round of a weak draft.

EDIT: Nevermind, you were talking about Gaunce.

All the scouting reports on him have been excellent. He's been reported to be one of the safest prospects in the 1st round. Almost guaranteed 3rd line shutdown potential at the NHL level, with a top six ceiling.

Hey, I'm not saying I'd make that trade. The Canucks need Edler more than they need any forward the Flyers have. But if the Flyers push for it, you know damn well Gillis will ask for Couturier plus a dman.

Also, I was referring to Luke Schenn.

Philly might be going crazy in their need for D but that is just silly.

Stop shitting on my team. Start shitting on my finger.

Seeeee, this is what I was talking about like 10 pages ago.

The money saved by moving Luongo's contract will be used to take Shane Doan to the Cactus Club every second Wednesday and East Side Mario's every other day.

Philly reporter said he heard from a union source that the counter is basically the same thing with some stuff moved around and that it won't fly.

Some details on #NHL proposal; told league to phase in new HRR split: 52-48 (players) in yr 1; 50-50 in yr 2 et

at least its something.

It would take a lot for the Canucks to part with Edler. But if Ballard should regain his form, a top-4 of Bieksa, Hamhuis, Ballard, and Garrison isn't that bad (with Tanev in the wings). The drawback is that after Tanev and maybe Connauton, the list of defensive prospects is really really thin.

The same can be said about forward depth. Kassian hasn't proven himself yet, and Jensen and Schroeder have yet to play an NHL game. With the window of opportunity closing, the Canucks need a top-six forward and a shutdown centre now.

Edler for Couturier would be relatively fair for both sides, but I think the Canucks would want someone with a few more seasons under his belt.

Eddie's Lack contract structure shows that Mike Gillis is willing to hold on to Luongo this year if he needs to until his value goes up.

Couturier is already a 2.5C with potential to be a 1C. He's 19. Go to hell.

Connor McDavid is making his OHL debut this year (Erie Otters). Exceptional player status, so he's going to be 15. He's clearly a couple of levels ahead of players his age and will probably go first overall in the 2015 draft. He was easily the best player in the Mentorhip Cup (game between the best midget players in Canada, shootout goal is crazy). Most importantly, grew up watching the Leafs. He's already training with Gary Roberts. I don't expect him to be great this year, shitty team, 15 years old, but he should be dominating soon.

Edler though is an established very good defender, potential is sometimes not worth as much as a good established player. Though I think Edler only has 1 year left on his contract, so it would have to be a guarantee he resigns with Philly.

And Edler's an established top 3 defender on any team in the league, not to mention he's just entering his prime. Anything less than Couturier would be ridiculous. It's not like anyone is suggesting Ballard for him. Top pairing dmen are expensive.

I made that up on the spot. Are you implying that I am not the first?!

Kinda. Kinda not. From NHL Memes:

So that video is basically telling us to do nothing? Yeah I'll post on my twitter feed "Stoplockout". How is that going to prevent the lockout and how is that going to get both sides to agree on a new CBA?

I mean the premise of it. Letting the owners know that the fans are pissed off at them and not the players.

Right. Because the owners will actually care. Fans have been complaining for years about high ticket prices and too many corporate seats, but nothing had been done about that. Ownership knows that in all the big markets, fans will flood back en masse. They could not care less about what we think because they know it's not going to affect the bottom line.

Wow fans are actually taking sides on this ?

Both sides are equally fucking greedy, they need to sit down and work out an agreement that's best for everyone and the league, stop trying to "win" when the price is losing the very same fans who fund your salary/team.

Yeah Borocops skills are more needed now since we lost Carkner, but we dont have much puck movers other than EK and Gonchar.

EK is 2 puck movers in 1 though :lol

Ceci will probably be up when Gonchar is gone. I guess Wideman is there as well (long shot though).

And then there's Wiercioch.

Bruce also told me to go to hell when I suggested a Schneider/JVR trade last year and kept saying we were overvaluing him. Note to GAF: do not enter into hypothetical trade talks with bruce.
