How do you get the drone system? I have all these different types of drones I can't even use cause I don't have the drone system installed.

I just started, and immediately noticed how "jaggy" some of the sprites (the circular buttons especially) are, which I never noticed in videos. Not a big deal but slightly jarring.

Sometimes shops will sell them. You can also unlock a drone ship that starts with it.

The work day can't end soon enough! I've been waiting months for this game, learned about it before they even launched the Kickstarter and when I finally went to donate, I had missed the close by a day. Been watching youtubes and streams of people playing the beta now for 2 months!!

bought and installed as soon as I got up this morning, but alas, cannot fire it up until I'm finished with work!

My second most anticipated game this year under XCOM. Glorious time to be a PC Gamer.

The soundtrack of this game is amazing, wasn't expecting that when going in.

I have a feeling Xenonauts will blow your mind.

I feel so international! Went to the site and saw that it supported amazon payments. Since I own an kindle and have an account I thought I would try it out. It just worked! No hazzle with credit card details and all that jazz. Downloading from steam right now.

Maybe silly thing to be impressed by but I am a Swede and we can't buy download titles from amazon normally. (Books to my kindle works fine though)

Woo and now the game download is done. Gotta go :)

Somehow I've pulled myself away from the game. Can't wait to jump back in.

Need to better myself on limiting energy and missiles, I know that.

This game is fun. Really needs a shitton of different random events to stay fun for a longer period of time though.

20 game hours edit later: .. which it definitely has.

Had an great first run on easy. In sector five my ship was almost completely destroyed, fire everywhere and one surviving crew member out of 5... Finally realized fire need oxygen to feed so I vented the ship and let my sole surviver Charlie(Rock alien immune to fire) duke it out with the invading alien in the cockpit.

Charlie lived on for more adventures but finally succumbed in another firefight in sector 7 back to back with his new pal Philip(alien engi he met on an planet). May they both rest in piece.

Got 644 in score.

I've been on the fence with Xenonauts, and to be honest, I'm looking forward to the scaled down complexity of XCOM Enemy Unknown. Xenonauts just looks like a graphics update of classic XCOM to me (XCOM HD, if you will).... and I really don't like the art style. I'm psyched for an XCOM experience without all the insane tedious nuances, like not being able to see stats in the inv screen (having simpler inventory in general), I love the idea of a single base with satellites, etc.

But, let's not get off topic.... FTL!!!

Made it to sector 7 in normal and on my first run of easy made it all the way to the end boss, ran out of missiles in the second fight and had to run and lost the game because of it. Game is a lot of fun though

I can't get back into it ever since I got to the final boss for the first time. It's so disappointingly short -_-

do not buy game off steam if you live in EU

developer is doing the usual lazy stuff and treating rest of the world as second class trash with 1€=1$ pricing.

buy game off GOG or developers site instead

Just wanted to chime in and say that I've been playing this for the past couple weeks and it's one of the best games I've played in years. Certainly one of the best roguelikes. It's an amazing blend of simulation and roguelike that will appeal to many, many pc gaming vets (and everyone else).

Mac version works well on my 2011 Air. There's something weird going on with my mouse pointer in that I get the game cursor overlaid on top of the system cursor, but that hardly affects the game.

He said it was the standard Steam policy. Doesn't seem like he had a choice.

@ChristAlexander It's Steam's standard policy. Probably to balance out EU's VAT. But it's a flat $9 from our website or GOG.

Trying to check out one more spot before leaving the sector can go bad real quick. I just got boarded next to a solar flare. Can't believe I made it through that, and I'm glad I bought a Hull Repair drone.

Is anyone having trouble running this in Fullscreen-stretch mode? Trying to run it at 1920:1080 the game seems to stretch the image too much and thus some gets cut off.

Played it for a bit now, and can definitely see the depth, and man it can be hard, lol.

Good times though, definitely a purchase with longevity, and I love the music

Someone sell me on this. I'm not the biggest fan of rouge likes, but I like my star treks and space operas with big ships.

Depends on what you don't like about Roguelikes. There's no dungeons and it isn't turn-based the way something like Shiren is, but you are voyaging out into space, getting randomized equipment and crew members for your ship, and encountering randomized enemies.

The combat seems completely unique. There are RTS elements, in that you're managing your crew members, selecting your weapons and targeting your enemy, but theres also Infinity Engine elements, in that you can pause the game at any time and choose what to do next. I don't think I'd like the game as much without that. The dynamic of it also shifts quite a bit depending on what type of weapon loadout you have. Lasers fire three shots, so the first one or two can disable the enemy's shields while the last gets in a direct hit. There are missiles which bypass shields but have limited ammo, and Ion weapons which bypass shields but just disable systems, not actually doing any damage. Right now I'm using those paired with an attack drone which swarms around the enemy ship and fires at it randomly. I'm finding it really enjoyable. Chris Remo's stream sold me on the game, but playing it now I'm amazed at how little he used the pause and the way he stuck to lasers, but the game is obviously open to playing it however you like.

sounds good. Will snag it up. It looks 2d though, does it support widescreen and high resolutions?

Don't want it be stretched out and what not, but I also don't like a tiny window for my 27" monitor.

Dunno, there aren't any options other than Fullscreen or not. It's windowed at 1280 width on my computer.

Wow this is actually in the top 10 most played chart now. Did Grimrock ever get that high?

$4.42 sitting in my Steam wallet. I kind of want to spend it on either this or Critter Crunch.

4,42 shouldnt be enough though (costing 9 bucks). Critter Crunch can be fun too, but I'd rather recommend FTL atm. Quite the unique little genre mashup.

Finally made it to the boss world on Easy, got around 3000 points. Geez. No clue how to beat that... not to mention on normal.

Sweet game.

So. I bought this at 1am last night. Bad idea.

Reached the end of the mission, got slaughtered haha. Was very unprepared (actually, should've probably
used my teleporter and murderised them
) and got destroyed. Went to bed at 4:25am.

This game is just.. wonderful.

So I backed this, but have resisted playing the beta since I wanted to wait for the finished game.

And holy crap was it worth it. I have played it all morning and had more fun than I can remember having recently with a game.

Incidently the Linux port is brilliant if anyone cares.

Best $10 spent ever!

i posted this in the steam thread:

i was really skeptic about FTL, but after two hours of playing i can say that the game is really good!

its like the board game space alert mixed with rouge like gameplay, more fun then expected

*thumbs up*

and now after three hours... yep, great game!

the great thing is that you are not frustrated when you loose, you just have this "one more time" feeling...

bought it from the developers website, 9$ (including steam key) is a fair price

Ouch. Being invaded near a star is terrible. My dual burst laser II Kestrel didn't manage to cripple any of the flagship's weapon rooms.

watched the idle thumb stream. Game looks a bit... slow, without how slow weapons seem to recharge.

I'd imagine that stuff gets hectic later on though, right?

Wow the end boss is completely ridiculous. Made it to the second part of the battle and got utterly crushed.

My god I love this this is hard and satisfying. And not cheap (*cough* dark souls *cough*)...is there a guide on what icons means? What is the sideways pause icon for example?

How do you use your cargo? I found some anti personal that supposedly takes out intruders.

I just went through the tutorial. I guess I really didn't know much about the game, but I love the DRM-free versions (can you go back and download the Linux version after buying the Windows version direct from the author's website?). And I'm playing the Steam key version!

Anyway, the graphics are minimal but quite well done, and it's inspiring to me since I'm trying to work on a GUI system for my own game in progress.

The music is neat, and I love how clean and customizable stuff is. I could see there being a fair bit of depth or replayability to the game. Overall it looks like a neat, polished, package. :)

Just bought. Can't wait to play. This looks like such a fun game. I love this resurgence of rouge-like mechanics in modern indie games.
