Technically, the game is a mess. Erratic framerate, ridiculous amounts to install, sub-HD and visually looks like it's stuck between this gen and last gen. Combine that with how much KojiPro were going on about THE CELL PROCESSOR and I'm going to guess it's so tied into the PS3 hardware (but unlike Uncharted, not to its gain) that the notion of porting it would be impossible, like how Red Dead can't make it to PCs.

FFXIII on 360 was the biggest meltdown I've witnessed. It was quite pathetic seeing how much people could get upset over a video game being announced for another platform. Tons of closet fanboys showed their true colors that day.
The funniest part about it though was that game ended up being awful. All that rage was in vain.

The game got delayed even further so the 360 and PS3 versions would release at the same time. The decision to port the game to the 360 came a bit late.
So yeah, some people had genuine reasons to be upset about that.

Back in my lurking days I read most of the threads posted here and boy, they are just amazing. DQ9 and FF13 especially.
They went nuts because it had really cool concept art but was being developed for the technologically weaker Wii.

There where some people mad that it was a Wii exclusive but everyone had a meltdown (including me) because it didn't look like the concept art which looked truly "epic".

A lot of YouTube (and large social media) comments were oddly co-opted in to the overall forum ire, as if they were all homegrown GAF opinions fresh off the presses. Even though there were most definitely some shameful reactions here to the Eurogamer's review, it was blown sky high out of proportion on the back of a few people way too invested in some dude(s) opinions.
A steaming shitpile of the internet's worst for sure.

Those were epic times. Bayonetta 2 is a whitecap compared to the tsunamis that the Capcom 5 and MGS: TS announcements were.

I missed it too. Bayonetta was a game I rented and got bored of after a couple hours so a sequel never concerned me. From what it sounds like, we missed a heck of a thread. When I get some free time I'll read through it.
That I did and ate crow for that. Although I said the same for MGS4 and that at least ended up being true.

Once I saw the multiple mid-game installs I knew they barely held this game together on one system. Add to that the complete mess the online sign up was for MGO and I knew they had to get all kinds of special waivers just to get it out the door.

Clearly you don't understand how business works.
Why would a company want to grab a huge market share early on? I mean, that money is probably just sitting there, doing boring stuff like earning interest. No, far better to take huge early losses and then watch to see how close you come to turning a profit in later years when your competition has already moved on. Last one to profit wins!

In retrospect, the MH3G/MH4 announcement deserved an even bigger reaction than it got, considering just how big an impact it's had on the handheld "race." But that was largely because so many were in denial at the time about the series' exclusivity.

For some reason GTAIV being released simultaneously on the 360 and PS3 caused a huge outrage with PS3 owners. Never really understood that one, but I remember there were a lot of fanboy wars over that announcement.
