What happens when this RE.net goes down? Like, when the servers are shut down in the future? I already don't like RE6 from what I've seen and read, but the fact that a good portion of the unlocks are tied to a fucking website makes me want to THROW UP. That's so god awful and offensive to me. I have to link my PSN account to a website to play my highest difficulty in my game? Seriously? Get the fuck out of here. What if I wanted to play this game years and years down the road for the first time and the website is gone/down? Does that mean I can't access all of this "content"? Even if this shit is unlocked through the website by playing the game, the fact that you need to sign up to an external website to access of all of this is ATROCIOUS no matter how you try and defend it. This is the ultimate broken record, but what the fuck happened to just UNLOCKING SHIT off the disk, you know, when you bought the game? Jesus Christ...

Thanks for not answering my question. Also, what if I do pick this game up one day when it's garbage price? There's still a VERY, VERY small cell in my body that wants to check this game out because Resident Evil used to be one of my favorite franchises (and still is when it comes to the older games). Even if the website does stay up forever (which we don't know if it ever will) it's still a horrible situation. I don't want my unlocks tied to some external source. I've also read how unreliable the website has been for some people which is even MORE offensive than the actual existence of such a service. Come on, people.

This is what needs to be discussed, not whether or not if Capcom is nickle and dimming us again (which they are) or if these said unlocks were on the disk or not. This is not the first time a company has put together a website that tracks your in-game data. Uncharted, Resistance, Killzone, Battlefield all these games have websites that track your details. It adds replayability as you can use points from playing the game to unlock stuff, and the great thing is they can keep adding features and content to the website. I really don't see why this is a problem.
And yes there have been connectivity issues with it, but what game with a new online service hasn't had issues during launch week?

It is a solution. You might have something against digital distribution of content, but there are ways around it come the end of the service. There being no more online multiplayer (especially for agent hunt and cross campaign content) is a bigger loss.

Yeah it's getting really annoying, especially from so-called "professional journalists." RE6 seems to be an acceptable target of any form of criticism, even though it's actually a long, engaging, and fun game.
Honestly I hope this game sells more than RE5 just to spite people.

I don't think anyone expects RE6 to sell low regardless if it's a shitty or a great game.It has Resident Evil on its title.It will sell. ORC sold well and people still consider it a shitty game.

I agree, and everybody is doing it, all I can hope is next gen bullshit like this gets under control. That being said, I want to play that mode because the combat in this game is awesome. If you like Vanquish and you can overlook some problems you might like RE6. Or wait for the Super Gold EX Edition, it will come.

Sure, a lot the big wigs are doing it, but it's not everybody. Platinum Games, Falcom, From Software, and a ton of other developers/publishers haven't fallen into these fish nets, yet. Oh, and I'm sure I will like some stuff in RE6 when I get around to it. From what I've seen and read though I'm not expecting to come off from it with a positive attitude. Besides my issues with the game itself there are too many underlining "bigger picture" problems that I have with the game. No amount of Vanquish-like slides or whatever is going to change my mind.

You bitch about RE.net and then praise From Software? Are you serious? If they turn off the servers then a large chunk of the in-game mechanics get broken, whereas in RE6 it only affects unlocks, which could probably just be unlocked for everyone as Sojgat suggested.
In RE6 it would also affect the crossover and coop stuff, similar to the Souls game.
The reality is that the internet is becoming more and more essential as far as gaming is concerned. In a couple years it WILL absolutely be as essential as having electricity.
I'm not defending this bullshit at all btw, just pointing out the reality of the situation. I wish I could unlock this No Hope difficulty by S ranking Professional with all characters or something...
I guess I just go on a case by case basis, this game DID provide me with enough content to justify the price. The only thing REALLY bugging me are the 3 mercs maps that are retailer exclusive, that preorder dlc garbage pisses me off WAY more than website unlocks.

I guess I was talking more about how content was tied to a website, not how a downed server could affect online modes/mechanics. Trust me, I have my issues with From Software. The fact that they haven't returned to King's Field drives me nuts, but that's besides the point. Yeah, you're right, it sucks that you can't access the online portion of Demon's Souls when the servers shut down. That does negate a core feature/mechanic in the game and it's pretty shitty, I know. But that's the case with EVERY game that has an online feature or mode. That's NOT what I'm trying to say here.
You can still access and play the entire game single player and find every weapon, item (besides that online-only hat from the monk) armor, spell, upgrade, or whatever OFFLINE without having to access some 3rd party source OR go ONLINE. You can New Game+ as long as you want straight from the disk and access higher difficulties without having to download them from a website. If you could only access Demon's Souls New Game+ with its added difficulty increase from PrepareToDie.net then I would have been vomiting all over the place. That's the difference.

I see what you're saying. I don't think you have to download anything from RE.net; all that data is on the disc. But to unlock it you have to use RE points that you accumulate on the website by playing the game. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken though.

Please. This is a great game with deep combat mechanics, lots of fun gameplay, and admittedly a few flaws, that is getting way too much unwarranted hate. I would be happy with more games like this, and that's me being honest.

It wasn't the Treasure amount of awesome I need.
Because it's content that was planned as DLC, not as the base package. Whether it's on Capcom's servers or the disk you are not entitled to it for free.
