If I'm trying to unlock characters/outfits in RE6, is it easier to do it on Mercs solo or co-op? I know the requirements on solo are lower but then again you have two people dealing damage in co-op versus just one person.

I've been doing it solo. I think it's pretty easy solo. You just gotta constantly be aware of what's going on around you. Today I actually got well over Leon's 122k with Chris, scoring 149k. I wasn't using any skills for extra points or even the skill multiplier. If you can get a kill streak of like 70 or so, you have it. I think the best kill streak so far for me has been about 80. I'm still not good enough to do the whole 150, let alone a 150 combo. I've only killed 90 enemies in my best run. =l

Some other evidence for that order:

-Leon 5 continues from Chris 4 and ends before the other two.
-The fire behind Ustanak in Jake 5 is probably from Piers' explosion.

Is there any mention of the T-Abyss virus in this game? Because it looks like there are some enemies based on it.

When is Versus coming?

Really? I thought it was a fun chapter. What part are you at?

I'm still trying to find the data chips. Idk if its a mix of frustration of not knowing where to go + those stupid ass flying enemies + the sniper rifle thats making me frustrated or what. Will probably give it another go tonight.

Oh yeah I kept getting lost until I just resorted to hitting LB (L2 on PS3) to show me the way. The rest of the chapter is better than that part.

Also did you guys know there are stealth kills from behind cover? I did one yesterday on
Ada's
first chapter. I was standing behind a corner and an enemy was walking towards me, and when he got close enough it gave me a melee prompt so I hit it and she reaches out from cover, grabs the guy, slams him back behind her cover, and snaps his neck. Baller.

Try some of the following tricks:

+ Aim at the snipers and hit Circle -- this will tag them as targets for your indestructible AI partner to take out. See the tips and tricks thread for more advanced tactics.

+ Don't try to defeat everyone. Kill a few snipers and RUN!

+ Use the mini-map in the upper-right corner of the screen -- it represents Sherry's device and will help you find your way in the darkness/snowstorm. :)

Solo because you don't have to worry about your teammate dying. Haven't finished a single round of Duo Mercs today. -_-

your indestructible AI partner

I used to think this was the case until that
out of control ambulance (the one that crashes into the gas station where you meet the survivors in Leon ch.1)
squashed AI Helena and gave me a game over. It seems they're not totally invulnerable =P

So when I started a New Game+, it said if I wanted to start without the weapons I acquired. I said no, but I played as Helena so I just had her default weapons. Now, if I play as Leon, I still should have everything right?

Oh. Well then maybe I'll play duo with some gaffers who know what they're doing lol.

My partner died three times during the campaign:

- The thing you listed was one of them.
- (Leon Chapter 2)
At the very end of the Deborah fight where Helena is on the ground and you have to save Ada from the ledge then shoot Deborah, Helena kept dying because she won't shoot Deborah.
- (Chris Chapter 5)
Piers died in the escape scene where we are crawling and trying to get to the door before it closes.
Guess he wasn't fast enough lol.

So in those terms, I guess Sherry > Piers > Helena.

I learned to love the remote mine plant and slide tactic. It really saves my skin.

Was doing what I thought was a pretty good run with alt Sherry, until a little screwup ends with me dying. Remember that I can equip skills in Mercemaries so I go check, and I still had Martial Arts Master from the one time I used Jake. Bloody hell.

Edit: Did it again /without/ it and S ranked Steel Beast with her. Man, J'avo really ARE more fun to fight/play as than zombies.

Finding the chips took a bit of time, but not too much. Getting up that mountain was the hardest part. And those birds were creepy as hell. lol. I just circled and strafed until they go on the floor and then I'd kick their arses. It was kind of hilarious how one picked up a big red gas tank and started to take off with it. I just grinned and was like "SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT!" and fired at the gas tank until it exploded and the bird was no more.

Returned the first copy I bought as my 360 wouldn't read it. Now the second copy gets read but once I press "play game" it says disc is unreadable. Disc 2 works fine but disc 1 just wont play. Anybody know what could be the problem? My 360 plays all my other games just fine, it just seems to hate RE 6 for some reason.

Jake and Sherry's campaign has been so much better than either Leon or Chris' so far.

Leon's constant forcing of the slow walk, and Chris' 'let's just call the campaign horde mode' nearly made me hate the game.

That FOV on Jake is Waaaaaaaay too narrow, though. Even more so when you take his melee focused combat scenarios into account. I'm constantly getting swarmed.

Why ppl won't wait until getting all the bonus times? Just got a 149 combo because some guy couldn't wait for me to get them all (he aslo didn't helped me to get them all, neither).

I mean...that's like one of the basics...

I've come to feel that incendiaries are the most godly weapon in the game... they just burn through anything and have a pretty generous AOE.

And you can freaking "quick shot" them too... which is pretty handy.

This is the only thing that annoys me... they won't pick up time themselves (I honestly don't mind because doing the lap for all the item pick ups you get is really helpful too) but they start the combo too early and then screw it up!

Just get the all time first, get sorted out, and then start the combo! There's plenty of time to kill all 150 even if you burn an entire min at the start.

It also gives you a change to group the zombies/enemies together so you aren't searching around at the beginning. They will group together chasing you... when you get the time you can kill 'em all really fast with counters and make back that min you spent grabbing time bonuses.

guys, guys... it's capcom's fault. It should be in the manual.

You can't expect people understand the crafty combo mechanic just by playing.

lol.

They should add a loading screen tip: unless you are the most godly merc player and have incredibly advanced strategy... get the time first, knuckleheads.

So what skill do I get when I reach a certain number of weapon kills for said particular weapon?

I get all the time first too. I kind of know if the game is gonna get serious when people start running around doing the same.

Exactly... when I hear my partner bust a time crystal I immediately put on the game face. When I hear them get two? I grin... 150 here we come.

You know what fun is when you throw dynamite in agent hunt, with huge loads of success.

I still have not used half the enemy types in AH. Tried a little bit today and was disappointed to not have any vet games available, and quick match put me in room after room of farmer johns. Really cheap asses too.

People are so cheesy...

Yeah, I mean after the second or third time you should realise that MAYBE you should wait at least for the zombies get closer, I don't really care about going myself for the time bonuses, actually, it would be ok that while I go the second player can start the combo. But the amount of times ppl don't get that right...

Huh, I unlocked Sherry's EX2 costume on RE.net without having unlocked Sherry in Mercenaries, and now I can use her EX2 costume in Mercs. This is an interesting development.

Anyone up for some Mercenaries on 360? I would like to work on unlocking the characters.

Sure. My GT is Capcpom. No mic though but just make a lobby and shoot me an invite. I don't have a really good connection but I think that if you're host you'll be fine?

Yeah... you can buy it without unlocking. Good way to get alt A if you suck with someone's default loadout.

Chris A should really have a melee weapon... like the katana... that was a seriously missed opportunity.

What's funny is you can actually press X or A and it'll go to the next tip. So you might be able to flip through and find something you like before the game starts up. READ FAST!

They probably think they are badasses too. haha

Losers.

I want my other modes and maps... I want to play as the Ustank!

yeah I didn't mention they had inf ammo. Truly impossible to get them. I tried to keep out of quickshot range. But they would just stand still baiting. So it was impossible, really. Capcom needs to remove inf ammo from agent hunt mode ASAP.

So far my biggest complaint for The Mercenaries is the slow pace of the beginning, especially in contrast to the madness of PC exclusive "No Mercy" difficulty. To be honest though I've only played Urban Chaos. Since I unlocked the other two, I am eager to give them a try... that will have to wait unfortunately. Needless to say there is a good chance the PC version will deliver the ultimate The Mercenaries and lets hope they don't screw over the platform with console exclusive DLC.

EDIT: I didn't like how the Chris campaign ended. That is all I'll say. Didn't like the boss either, though the running sequences looked cool. (I learned the hard way that you really need to tap the aim button if you don't want to stay prone for more than a sec.)

They also need to save my search parameters so I don't have to re-select them every time I search a game and fail (since none of these cheesy fucks plays vet or above).

Common sense. They handicap their own good idea with this stuff. Just common sense people will ruin the fun to boost their own ego, or troll, or whatever the hell they get out of being jerks.

Remove inf ammo, amateur mode and add a list of games. Then people will play the fuck out of it.

I just block them and hope to never see them again. If I was doing a infinite ammo run, i would disable agent hunt. Honestly, it gives nothing to the invaded player, right?

I guess we agent hunt junkies will hit jackpot with the planned dlc

I finished Jake's campaign and thought it was awesome. Honestly I thought it was better than Leon's especially when it came to the finish. I played as Sherry and I loved what they did with her. Not only did they make her a cool agent, they also surprised me with her characterization.

The bit in the cabin when Sherry talks about the constant experimentation done throughout her life and how she got through the trama with the help her of Claire, very cool stuff. Jake was also surprisingly cool. Maybe it's because Troy Baker lends credibility to anyone he plays.

Now I'm on to Chris.

Sherry is definitely my favorite thing about this game,
Now its time to redeem Rebecca Capcom(Outside of being a badass is Mercs Reunion).
