I was surprised how much I enjoyed Sherry's character/performance in RE6.

In fact I would be fine with her being a main protagonist again in RE7.... but I think they should give her longer hair in the next iteration. Her healing and character in general was interesting. She was a surprise.

Piers is still my least favorite, but he's not terrible. Jake had some good lines, was well acted, but I really don't like his design. I try to never use the word generic, but I think his look (from the shoulders up) is kinda generic. Helena was alright, but she was the most hokey character in the game... a couple of her moments that were intended to be emotional fell awkwardly flat.

But I enjoyed the whole cast. Especially coming off the demo where I was a little disappointed we had three no-names in the game instead of characters like Jill, Claire, or Rebecca. Or hell even Sheva.

I still would have preferred the older characters, but these new ones weren't as bad as I thought they'd be.

Is there a way to post a pic of this when you get it? I'm close to my 3rd unlock, and can't decide if I want Chris' alt or Helena's.

Funniest thing about Jake was when
He said that jarheads like Chris and Piers all look the same to him. Chris and Piers, two men with full heads of hair with different styles, all look the same to Jake, a bald shaven man. Huh.

I agree, RE6 has the best VA of any RE game, however the game transcends that and just has a great cast all around.

And yes, Troy Baker is amazing.

I honestly believe RE6 has some of the best VA in any game. Chris' voice actor is superlative, Troy Baker kills it as Jake, Helena's emotional outburst when she
is sitting across from her sister and Deborah is taken away
is spine tinglingly good, Sherry is believably strong and determined, I could go on and on. I'd say the weakest in the bunch is Piers, and he still did a damn good job.

But yeah, Chris' scene when
Piers tosses him into the pod
was easily the best scene in the entire game.

Capcom and an airsoft company have teamed up to produce a special edition P226 "Leon" for Bio 6. Even though he never used that type of gun and the only P226 in the whole history of resi was in RE5.

I can take a really awful cellphone photo if you'd like lol. Honestly I'm just curious what's so different. Seeing that I don't like any of the other alts it just makes sense to get this one. Sherry's is too pink for my taste.

To be fair. Piers and Chris do look very similar. At least from a distance. I had serious trouble telling them apart in Chapter 5, during
the Uncharted style running section when the boss is wrecking stuff. Pretty sure they didn't have an icon above him for some of that.

Another thing with Chris's Chapter 5. I had a problem
with that section, with Piers not giving me a lift up and got killed because of it. So Piers is a dick. Fact.

Yes, that scene is amazing. The Chris ending is definitely my favorite in the game. The whole they handled THAT was very well done. I was absolutely shocked they went through with that, especially considering
how much poor Chris suffers in this game. Most tragic MC in the game.

I was also extremely surprised to find out Laura Bailey voiced Helena, it's so unlike anything I have heard from her since I'm used to her in anime type game roles, but she killed it. The scene you mentioned was really great.

Hey guys just dropping by. I have heard a lot of hate for this game, from podcasts and everything. I'm only through Leon's first chapter so far but I don't hate it.

The mechanics seem a bit loose and all the default settings for everything in the controls sucks: the crosshair instead of the laser sight, the aiming speed, the camera speed. Some tweaks there and I felt like I had some control over what was going on.

I still feel like having an independent camera might be a mistake. It could have stayed over the shoulder, RE5-style. It reminds me of how little I enjoyed babysitting camera placement in Super Mario: Sunshine after it had been so orchestrated in Mario 64.

Keeping the camera over the shoulder would have, to me, kept the melee feeling a bit tighter, and more in line with how I enjoyed quick knifing in RE4 and RE5.

But like I said I am early and not personally feeling hate for the experience.

My favorite part about that Chris scene is that
Piers doesn't say ANYTHING. Chris yells his heart out at Piers, and Piers just stands there and smiles at him. Then he hits the button and it's over. It's all over.

You'll get used to the new camera, and when you do it'll be hard to go back to RE5 and RE4. Just remember that the best way to set up melees is with headshots, which result in a one-hit-kill melee. If you shoot a zombie in the arm or shoulder it will spin them around and also set them up for a melee, but that doesn't work with the J'avo.

BTW I highly suggest playing through using the chronological order in the OP (although there has been some discussion around the order in which one should play the final three chapters). It's a better way of seeing the story IMO.

I know, he doesn't say much of anything as it gets worse. What a great bromance. Jake/Sherry can take a seat.

they will never make a better RE airsoft gun than
Though Wesker's isn't bad.

I just now realized you can get figures of the alt costumes from mercenaries.

It was surprisingly emotional and now I'm pissed that they killed off Piers. What a man. A fucking hero.

Cool that's the plan. I mean, that's the order in which they are presented...

I liked the exchange between he and
Chris: "What?"........ "Nothin'"

Very little said, but says a lot about both characters.

You said you just played Leon's first chapter though, whereas the first chapter in the OP list is Chris 1? Unless you mean the Prologue...

Oh I see what you mean. I was just looking at the "Story" section of the OP, and making sure I play in the order listed there, which is the order they are in the menu.

Umm... I don't know if I'm going to play in the order you list. I don't insist on chronological to stitch the plot together. Feels like I'd be jumping around...

Yeah it depends on what you want. I liked it because I would jump from Chris to Leon to Jake constantly, so I never got bored of any one campaign since they all feel so different. But some people wouldn't like it since it might feel disjointed to them.

I personally just finished whole campaigns and pieced the story together as I went along. I did Leon - Chris - Jake - 4th. It's not too hard to figure out what's happening when. Leon is really the last chronologically but at the same time the stuff that happened before the date of his first chapter isn't too important story wise.

Also I personally feel Leon's chapter is the best to acquaint yourself with the controls and mechanics. Slower enemies makes it a lot easier to get a grasp of the dodging and all the other awesome stuff you can do.

I gotta say for a video game the English voice acting is damned impressive. Hell even the facial animations aren't too shabby but the voices blow me away when I stop and remind myself that this is a video game...

Some questions:
Are RE points on RE.net different than ingame RE points?

Also I thought you get RE points when you play Mercenary mode? How do I see how much I've earned? I only see the final score/medals.

yeah.
I thought i'd hate the new Leon and Ada voice actors but they did an ok job.
Chris, Sherry, Jake and Helena(kinda) were top notch voice acting.

In my experience it takes the site awhile to catch up. It's telling me the last thing I did was complete Leon's chapter 4 on amateur but I know I've done a few more chapters on amateur since then, plus a ton of mercenaries.

I have to say though, it's really nice when you're with a friend who's playing professional but you can be playing on amateur. I kinda hope they don't patch that. Maybe make it more obvious for those who don't know you need to be on a higher difficulty.

I'm going to be so happy when they patch in co-op for the fourth campaign; I dread going through that on Professional.

as of leon's 4th chapter i didn't dislike the game, all things considered. it was even kind of fun.

then i finished chapter 5 and now i hate everything in the world and want to die.

Chapter 5 doesn't even bother me that much, it's the first 4 chapters that piss me off (especially Chapter 4, I freaking hate that one).

The first 4 really weren't that bad, it was the
Simmons boss fights
that were the real pain. The AI makes that drone on much longer than needed. Especially with the PS3 connection issues and me never joining other people's games.

Haha that's easily the worst of the final chapters. Chris and Jake have great Chapter 5s.

See I actually really enjoy that section in Chapter 5. It's everything that comes before it (except Chapter 2, that was kinda cool) that pisses me off. I also played Chapter 5 online so that probably helped.

BTW does infinite ammo affect Achievements? If not I'll just play through that shit with infinite magnum/grenade launcher/whatever ammo.

Infinite ammo does not affect achievements. You won't need anything but a magnum for Leon/Helena and Jake/Sherry. I took grenade launcher for Chris/Piers and crossbow for Ada.

Chris's VA is consistently awesome. In fact, all of the characters had good voices in 6.

Troy Baker makes Jake.

During the final
Utsanak
fight, I imagined UMvC3 Nova in place of Jake and it made the whole fight more awesome than it should have been.

Good to know. Please tell me that infinite ammo is not shitty like in RE5 where you never had to reload because your clip never ran out? I really like the reload animations...

yep.

Infinite crossbow is both regular and explosive arrows just fyi.

Oooh. That will make Ada Pro much less painful.

You actually do have to reload once your clip is out. So yay for reload animations!

Well, the RE points on RE.net are always even, like 80000 while ingame they are not and never have been so I'm wondering if they are the same.

Skill points are different than RE.net points... you get the latter by obtaining medals in the game and (a few) on the site. This takes quite some time to update. Supposed to be every hour, but lately it's more than 24hrs per update.

You spend RE.net points on RE.net unlocks. You spend skill points (earned by picking them up during gameplay) on in-game skills (campaign, mercs, agent hunt).

Hope this helps.

I was rather proud of myself... just noticed that my first playthrough in Jake's campaign, I got every emblem but two. Then I got one of them on the first chapter as Sherry. So still missing 1 somewhere. Pretty good though, I thought... without looking at a guide.

Chris, I missed more than half. Leon, I think I missed 3-4. Ada I missed a bunch.

I love looking for that stuff though... every since the Tomb Raider games (probably even before) I've been pretty obsessed finding secrets.

How do you Mercenaries? Suck at it man. :(

Someone should make a Merc FAQ for RE5 and 6.

Get orange sandclocks.

Kill (counterattack and melee for time bonus preferred)

Do not, let, the combo die. Do not. Use all you have to avoid it beeping away.

Use the green sandclocks in the best moments of combo (aka the ones you can pull the most combos in the shortest span of time).

That's about it.
