I hope that's not the way it works on PS3 as well. User teh-cg has the game already on PS3, no? Maybe he can let us know...
I'd be worried if I pre-ordered it on PSN :lolI hope that's not the way it works on PS3 as well. User teh-cg has the game already on PS3, no? Maybe he can let us know...
Are the graphics really going to be enhanced? My friend says yes, I think no.
As videos in this very thread have shown, they have indeed changed the graphics.
Yeah, looks more colorful for some reason, idk if that's good or bad..
Just heard this was coming out today, I got excited... then found out they wanted $40 and now I'm bummed...
What are they thinking?
Current price of Doom is still high on pc. On Steam Doom 3+ROE+Doom1+2 is $50.
I'm getting my copy tomorrow. Anyone know if this is coming to Steam?
Good to know, thanks. The retail version and other downloadable versions are all Steamworks, so it's guaranteed.
did anyone else in this thread pick this game up for 10 through price pros a few months ago? has the game shipped yet for you?
My copy has been listed as "shipped" with an arrival date of Oct. 16 for several weeks, so hopfefully it gets here tomorrow.I'm one of those people. Haven't heard anything yet. They have had my money since that day so I hope they don't screw around.

So as a PC user with the specs above that owns Doom 3 and ROE expansion on Steam already lets weigh the pros and cons of the pc version of BFG edition:
Pros:
Steamorks title which means Steam acheivements.
Improved graphics
Buying this will show support for Doom 4 to Bethesda.
7 new levels.
Only $30 on PC.
Cons:
It appears a fully modded Doom 3 has better graphics but I can't get it to run at 60 FPS modded.
They broke the save system.
It appears old mods don't work with BFG.
User enhanced version of Doom and Doom 2 are far superior.
So I am on the fence on this one. I want to show my support for my favorite developer and game series of all time (It is why I got into IT eventually. Doom was literally a life defining moment for me). I want to show my support for Doom 4 and am really interested to see what changes have been made. That all being said if I can get sikkmod running at 60 fps at 1920x1200 with HD textures I would probably pass on this.
Looking for feedback on this.

Hey, anyone know the control schemes for the 360 version? I'd like to know before buying.

It's up on Steam, and only 20 bucks if you already own original Doom 3. Classy move actually. Will probably pick it up.
What bs. Why not communicate this prior to release? I got it from GMG less than 2 hours ago! Anyone know gmgs refund policy????
I hadn't considered that position, you're right that sucks. Hope you're able to get a refund!
Doom 3 does still manage to be a fun and darkly tense first person shooter, but half of the ambiance is killed by the ridiculous audio. If you decide to check out the Lost Mission, the brand new single player content that has been added to the Doom 3 BFG Edition, you wont have to be worried about any of the story being drowned out by the other sounds, because there is barely any story to speak of. The Lost Mission seems to want to trade any atmosphere the game had, for a chance to throw as many enemies at you as it possibly can. If you simply want to blast demons with a shotgun, youll have a decent time with the Lost Mission, but if you were a fan of the original Doom 3 youll probably be disappointed with the new content.
Try to stay with me, things are about to get confusing as there are a bunch of different options for multiplayer, depending upon the platform you choose to play on. As far as competitive Deathmatch style gameplay goes, youll be able to play online or off with 2-4 players in Doom and Doom 2. But only on consoles, the PC versions will have no multiplayer. Multiplayer came to Doom 3 with the Resurrection of Evil expansion, which is available for 2-8 players on the PC, but only 2-4 players on consoles.
Confused yet? I know I am. The saga continues with the co-op offering; as with the original XBLA and PSN releases of Doom and Doom 2, youll be able to play 2-4 player online or local co-op. On the PC, however, there will be no co-op for Doom and Doom 2. In even more disappointing news, the 2-player co-op that came to Doom 3 when it was released on the original Xbox is gone from all versions of the BFG Edition. Any way you look at it, youre always going to be losing something from the original versions, so why would you really want to purchase this one?
If youre going to re-release a game from your back catalog youre supposed to add features. If you arent going to add any features, you should at least make sure the new version is of the same, or ideally higher, quality than the original. iD Software did neither of these things with the Doom 3 BFG Edition release and what youre left with is a package that would be much better if you simply purchased the originals individually. Doom 3 is still a great game, but I really recommend finding a copy of the original PC version and sticking with the copies of Doom and Doom 2 you may already have, or can easily purchase, on your Xbox 360 or PS3.
6/10
I'd like to know the full range of options, if possible. I'm pretty picky. I tried looking the options up online, but can't find a thing. What do you want to know in particular the whole control scheme? Like I know flashlight is turned on and off with left trigger. y and b I believe are your action buttons and weapons switch. Trying to remember the rest. I'll have to load it up.
I bought the game (PC version) and I'm getting 60 FPS just fine with 1920x1010, 2x AA and 4x motion-blur. It looks damn nice though a lot of the texture work is dated as hell.
What's a good place for uploading screenshots for posting online? I hear imgur is out of the question due to their compression tech.
Also yeah I wish Beth/Id would just get with the times and deliver a real ultimate edition, which rounds up all of the best mods for the three games. Honestly I don't even know where to begin with all the craziness that's been cooked up for the original games.

Working on a full review but it could be awhile since I tend to play games like this at night with the lights out and the headphones on.

Can you confirm that the PC version has controller support?
Says so on the Steam page.
There would be no point in implementing multiplayer in Doom 1 or 2 on PC, there are multiplayer source ports (with existing communities) with much more to offer than the original game, or anything ID could support (eg 50 player deathmatch)
Nonetheless, it's not a tall order and the feature would have been welcomed by those who don't venture outside of a game's vanilla offerings (the "casual crowd", you might say).
