Guess this or they saw people cancelling the LE's.

Either way, I'm happy, that it was changed recently.

God, I'm becoming increasingly fucking pissed as time is passing here. Instead of ignoring people asking about it for over a week, he or someone there could have at least said something like "hold tight LE owners" in regards to this. bsangel's post said that they were "brainstorming" ways to get people that content available in the "distant" future. Who the fuck am I supposed to believe over there? God fucking damn it. Seriously fucking angry, I can't remember ever getting jerked around like this as a consumer. And there is NOWHERE to get the LE now even if I wanted to re-up it, which I really can't anyway since I'm unemployed and I had it paid off at Gamestop in store credit. Guess I will try to buy just the steelbook off someone post-launch, but come the fuck on 343.

Great to see 343 seeing sense and offering the same Map Pass to everyone.

I'm really excited for the map schedule - imagine how good Halo 3 would have been if we got all the map packs in a timely manner. I would have gotten a lot more games on Citadel!

Things happen behind the scenes all the time, or come together late. Just because they're not forward-facing about things doesn't mean that's the case behind the scenes. I agree that the messaging hasn't been clear, but there's a lot more moving parts (especially w/ retail) than just 343i. Cancelling a LE over two helmets is sort of silly, no?

I think you may still be able to unlock it in game, you just can't get the preorder skin the the U.S. Not too sure about this though. You could probably check an armory video to see if there are two versions of the helmet listed. I would but I can get on YouTube at the moment.

Funny thing, Xbox Germany made a Facebook post about launch festivals in some towns, but you had to win the invite.

They never made another post about it. :(

Since Amazon doesn't charge before shipping, I hadn't cancelled my LE.

I was planning to, but I had a suspicion something like this might happen, so I left the LE alone and put in an additional order for a regular Halo 4. That way, I had both preordered, and I could cancel either one whenever I wanted without the possibility of anything being sold out or unavailable to me. Wanted to keep my options open, even though I had decided to go with the regular edition + map pass.

Like another poster here, it's not so much that I think a couple helmets are worth money. I was more bothered by the principle that regular buyers were being given more goodies than LE buyers. Something I can actually use in-game is better than any little paper flyer.

Now that they have reinserted some logic into their LE, I think I'll keep it. I'm glad, too, because I do very much like steelbook cases. I was going to miss that.

They probably just changed what all of the codes redeem for on the backend, which is what they should have done initially, and there never should have been this issue to begin with.

I'm super salty, I'm getting off for the night, me just continuing to bitch about this in here isn't productive. If someone from 343 sees this just know I am extremely disappointed, and I know other people have cancelled that I know IRL as well as other forums like CAG, and there's no real way for most of us to now re-get the LE, and this was all based on what was pretty explicit confirmation from bsangel. God damn.

Maybe I'll score it big in Diablo 3 tonight so I can make some money -_-

The LE does not come with the War Games Map Pass armor and emblem DLC. The content is different and unique to each SKU. So the LE comes with the Prime armor skin, Prime weapon skin, Prime emblem, Recruit armor avatar costume, and Cryo-Tube avatar prop, and the standalone Halo 4 War Games Map Pass comes with the Scanner helmet, Strider helmet, and Falcon emblem. I know that's not good news for the completionists amongst you, which is why we're brainstorming ways to make those items available in the (distant) future.

What confuses me about the Recruit armor is that if it is the default Spartan 4 armor, why does everything else show that helmet with the Optimus Prime mouthplate as being the primary Spartan 4 armor?

Even the papers inside the Limited Edition show the mouthplate helmet as the definitive basic Spartan 4.

Did they just change their mind late in the game, or what? Is 'Optimus Prime' (as I will refer to it) an unlockable helmet, then?

It's a sad catch-22, the LE armour situation.
They've made the right decision, but the fact it happened at all was poor form. Lessons for the future hopefully.

I find it hard to believe that you won't be able to find one, I have 3 LE pre-orders probably only getting one since my two brothers ended up getting their own. Peoples circumstances change all the time you may find that instore at launch there may be extras at somewhere like Bestbuy. Gamestop crap for employees, hate going there so yeah you probably won't end up with one from there.
