Sol Trigger is not awful. It's quite good actually. I seem to be the only one around here who completed the game, but it's better than most psp games that get localized these days so I do hope someone considers it, even if it's DD only. Also, a sequel for the vita would be wonderful and completely unsurprising.

Persona 4 is not the best selling Vita game worldwide. Uncharted: Golden Abyss did 200k in the US, and was like at 70-80k in Japan last time I remember seeing an update. Europe's now accounting for negative sales?
200k at least in EU seems realistic.

Given that Sol Trigger is just a bit above 50k on a much more popular platform, a sequel existing on anything, let alone Vita would be surprising.

The info might be present elsewhere on the forum but Nintendo revealed that the sales of Mario 2 reached 1.31M in Japan, that would be counting the DD sales also?

Yes, but that also might include shipped numbers, so I'm not sure that we can use it to figure out the amount of DD sales.

You are they are shit but you keep posting numbers from there.
I guess you meant "know"?

Are there any better western/worldwide trackers to go by? I know they're inaccurate but I'd say they're ok for getting approximate numbers. Or not even that?

Going along with the ports discussion on the last page, Sony would be wise to look into (ie invest in) Vita ports of RE 4 & 5, Dynasty Warriors ____, and Final Fantasy 13. Couldn't hurt.

They are banned for simply making numbers up. For Western sales, you have to wait for monthly reports from NPD and sporadic updates from Gfk/Chart Track.

Bannable offense to even reference them. They make up numbers.

Posting numbers from them is a banable offense, I'd edit your post quick sharp if I were you

They're not just inaccurate. A lot of the numbers are pulled directly from the owners backside. The fact that some of the numbers are legit doesn't mean the others don't smell bad any more.

Alright.

Sorry if I ask, but are there some known examples of numbers being just plain wrong? I'm curious about this now :p

It's shipped physical + sold digital. SCE gives out numbers similarly for their PSP/PS3/Vita games, we can expect Nintendo to do the same going forward.

I distinctly remember VGChartzzz once saying Kingdom Hearts on PS2 sold like 400 units in its first week of release in North America. I did not miss a zero there.

There will be more Dynasty Warriors games on Vita. Tecmo Koei seems to be chummy with SCEJ, though TK is kind of chummy with everyone ... However, I'm not sure if that is a great decision, since neither the Vita nor 3DS entries have sold as well as the PSP ones initially did. I think they've been milked too hard.

As for XIII, nope. Vita does not need that game, lol. If there are PS3 RPG ports Vita could use it's the Tales games.

Only the launch Dynasty Warriors did really well on PSP, the other Musou games on the system did between 30-110k. Samurai Warriors actually did better on 3DS (150k) than PSP (110k). In general the 3DS and Vita entries are in line with PSP for what the games are.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

I fear you're forgetting the first Dynasty Warriors Strikerforce

[PSP] Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce (Koei) - 227.309 / 384.336 / 59,14% 26/02/09

Well at least they agregate Media Create/Famitsu numbers nicely ;)

This game must've been awful because IIRC the sequel didn't even do half of that.

Speaking of which, has the PSP Remaster of Strikeforce 2 been released yet?

Ack! It didn't come up in my quick/lazy garaph search. :/

Amazing how far and fast the Strikeforce games fell though. 2nd one did 122k, HD Special did about 100k combined PS360.

I keep forgetting its not coming out in Europe at the same time.

Then again, I have no clue how many people bought/will buy a vita just for that game.

So yeah, I'm dumb for bringing it up and continuing with it!

I doubt it would have sold better in Europe than the usa

Europe is a hard nut to crack regarding info about videogame sales but if stores are any indication (Germany), then it's as dead as the PSP, and that's saying something.

absolutely no relevant presence in stores, whatsoever. In the Saturns, Media markts and gamestops stores near me, Vita is back with PSP in one lone shelf in some kind of bargain bin dormant state, just without the bargain part.

No way Vita software moves here, if anyone wants an educated guess regarding sales of a Vita game worldwide, I'd bet good money that it's at its worst in Europe, in every case.

or Germany, at the very least, maybe folks in UK, spain, italy or france can give some more positive anecdotal evidence.

Ports are better than nothing. Or they can just do PS2 archives on the Vita.

Oh, I'm not saying Sony shouldn't go after ports. The weeks where nothing is released are the worst weeks for Vita. Vita needs content, even if it is PS2/PSP up-ports or PS3 down-ports.I'm just saying that XIII probably isn't the right port to grab, lol.

Ports are the lifeblood of any good handheld. P4G is a great game for example. Popular, from a previous gen, with added content. What kills the Vita and did a number on the earlier years of the PSP are badly done ports of recent games or even worse day and date shoddy c team efforts.

Yeah, they should do XII instead!!

Also, I just started to play (the holy) FRONT MISSION 5 again. only to realize it would be perfect to play it on the Vita~~~

Oh man FM5 is better than FM4 in every way. shame on SE not bringing it to the west.

Professor Layton VS Phoenix Wright will be available in Japan eShop
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/eshop/software/index.html

29/11, 5980 yen (same day and price as retail version)

The first 3rd party game to follow Nintendo's locked at MSRP pricing and thus effectually more expensive than the retail version at almost all stores? All the other 3rd party announcements had slightly lower prices akin to the way Sony handles DD releases, except for MH3G I think.

I guess Capcom want to position themselves in the same league as Nintendo, selling their stuff for a premium price as downloads. MH3G being the only game that sells Nintendo numbers on a Nintendo platform puts them above the competition in this regard.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

The game is published by L5 though.

One Nintendo 3DS game that will enable us to significantly raise a wide variety of consumers’ awareness of the download sales of packaged software will be released on November 8 in Japan. That is "Animal Crossing".

This is a game you can enjoy every day over a long period of time, which means that its download version in particular could be suitable. We decided to actively advertise it in the mass media for the first time. Please let me show you the TV commercial.

Information about download versions has been displayed as text on the TV screen in some commercials before, but this time, as you just heard, the narrator says, "Download version available, always with you, never lost." We hope this commercial will have a significant positive impact on the awareness of download versions.
