Did gametrailers review ever drop?
They gave it 5 Code Reds out of 5.

Come on, the ending is pretty memorable.
Yeah, I guess I like it more conceptually.Memorable in its shittyness. The concept is good but the execution... just another firefight mission. For fucks sake, leave it out if you can't do it properly...
But it still first person.
And it is a shooter.
Thus, it fulfills the requirements to be a first person shooter.
As long as you're playing it on PC, and not 360.
We were talking about FPSes. First Person Shooters.
Skyrim and the Elder Scrolls series are First Person games (well, the can be played in TP but they're not very good that way) but they're not shooters.
First Person Action Game describes hybrid games better, if they're played in first person.
I didn't say it was a bad thing, just that i'd disqualify them as FPSes.
lol. you don't even have a ps3...BLAM, caught wit your pants down!!!

Yeah, I guess I like it more conceptually.
Skyrim could technically be played as an FPS because of the bow/arrow :>
But obviously you can't count TES games as FPS because you literally can't shoot people with guns and shit. You CAN shoot people with guns and shit in pretty much all the other games people listed. That's literally the only qualifier there is for first person shooter games.
Is it first person?
Can you shoot people?
edit: i'm moving into thread shitting territory. whatever. you're missing out big time. Congrats again to 343 for the awesome reviews. I am so stoked to finally get my hands on the game again.

Giantbomb: " I felt like much of the promise inherit to this potentially new setting had been squandered. Maybe that's on me for wanting Halo to be something other than Halo"
The bolded should put Gianbomb in to context. All throughout the review reeks of disappointment that it's too Halo. Too much like older games.
EDGE's review is pretty...fluffy (thanks for giving me talking points about the arsenal and location). With the uproar about the score, I was expecting a more substantial read.
I guess I'm just used to Halo-GAF's long winded rants.
So, Eurogamer gave Halo 4 an 8, where is the thread to bitch about them? Oh, i see, this isn't a Playstation exclusive
Jeff has become more jaded over the years, but yes, that bolded segment does make the review score make more sense.
When I buy the next Uncharted, I hope it's less Uncharted.
Dat balanceIronically, same guy who gave Halo an 8 on Eurogamer was the same guy that gave Uncharted 3 an 8.
This guy...
I don't know about you guys, but wanted a little more FIFA from this halo...
Definitely waiting for real-person impressions. I enjoyed Reach online, but god damn was it's single-player crap. I just couldn't believe the praise it got, especially the praise for the story, so I'm super-wary about some of these reviews.

Tbf, they did pretty much say that about U3
jeff gave halo 3 a high rating. seemed to be a better package to him.GiantBomb has given all their Halo reviews 4/5 stars. The series just doesn't seem to click with them as much as other outlets.
Go back to putting your wife to sleep.
See you in 5 days, fucker.
We need to get a crew together. I'm on this game like stink on shit
They've only had the chance to review ODST and up, and at that point it was getting somewhat stale.GiantBomb has given all their Halo reviews 4/5 stars. The series just doesn't seem to click with them as much as other outlets.
Interested on Gametrailers' review but I will let other people watch to screen for spoilers first since they're especially bad at that stuff.

This right here. I've always thought the Halo games had pretty mediocre campaigns that get hyped to high heaven, so I'm waiting to see what people around here think about the campaign. I'm not a big multiplayer guy so I generally get games for their single player offerings.

I'm kind of surprised there aren't more reviews out yet :S I would have imagined reviewers would be in a hurry to release them since this is such a big title

The Escapist said:It's going to feel a little off with a new studio taking over the franchise, and Bungie left a big mark on gaming with Halo. While 343i shouldn't just try to make a Bungie game, the single player isn't up to the series' standard. Halo 4 does balance that with a robust amount of content across the various gameplay modes.
Games(tm) said:The question many will ask, ultimately, is how Halo 4 stacks up against its predecessors, and in truth its hard to answer at this time. Itll take multiple runs through the campaign, hours and hours more multiplayer, and swaths of Spartan Ops mission to truly understand how good Halo 4 is. Theres one answer we can say with certainty, though: this is absolutely a Halo game. And thats all that most fans would ever need to hear.
Game Informer said:Whether I am watching a grenade explode a Promethean into a shower of sparks or charging with friends at my side through a cooperative adventure, Halo 4 makes the series feel new again. 343 Industries clear affection for the property shines through, leaving me thrilled to join Master Chief for another decade in defense of the galaxy.
Gaming Nexus said:Is Halo 4 the be-all and end-all of the video games of 2012? No. Is it a solid title that will keep fans of the series happy for the next couple of years? Without a doubt. 343 proves they have what it takes to carry the series into the next generation. This is a true Halo title through and through, which is both good and bad depending on your feelings on the series. There are some small quirks, but the multiplayer continues to be one of the most robust and addicting suites in the industry. Fans and gamers alike will be playing this one for a long, long time.
OXM UK said:It's tempting to treat Halo 4 as a taste of things to come. Arriving right at the cusp of a console generation change-over, the game's alluring looks hint at the cosmic attractions of Halo 5. The tellingly named Infinity fiction, meanwhile, points to a future where downloadable, possibly free-to-play episodes are the main event rather than a sideshow. But the hesitancy of 343's revisions and additions also invites you to look through their creation, pondering what might have been - or more justly, what probably will be. Microsoft's home-grown mega-studio has proven that it can make a great Halo. It has yet, however, to render Bungie's creations surplus to requirements.
Videogamer.com said:One fact is clear: this is no longer Bungie's Halo, but much of what made the series such an irresistible proposition has remained intact for this new beginning. Rich, lavish and often spectacular, Halo 4 is an encouraging first effort from 343 Industries and a deserving entry into one of gaming's most beloved franchises. Master Chief didn't need to reawaken so soon, but I'm certainly glad he did.
WorthPlaying said:Making a mark on an established universe is a very difficult thing to do. While 343 put together a solid game with Halo 4, it hasn't pushed the franchise forward in any meaningful way. Multiplayer has progressed, but the campaign and the overall plot hew close to the established formula. Instead of innovating, 343 has played it safe in just about every aspect. Halo 4 competes favorably with Halo: Reach, but it doesn't exceed Bungie's final installment.

Can we not talk about the ending? Fuck.

Wtf is this not a spoiler? What happened to the tags?
Does halo have ADS now?
How come no reviewers ever faulted CoD for being the same thing every year? It seems like with franchises like Halo which are different from the norm when it comes to the FPS genre, people expect more out of them in terms of creativity and innovation; when the games are already innovating by not just being another CoD clone (despite the changes to Multiplayer in H4)
