I hope 343 takes the complaints and fixes them if possible in Halo 4 and focuses on them with Halo 5. Some of this stuff has no use. There are so many small things holding the game back. Best gunplay since Halo 2 but other stuff needs tweaks.

I really need to play Halo 2 locals again. Everyone is getting on their knees for that game and it's just not congruent with what I remember about it. H2 was great fun but I would take every Halos' multiplayer over 2's.

Your memory is correct. Most people just have massive nostalgia for it. If it was so great people would be playing it on XBC all the time.

Try to board tank.
Pick up Boltshot.
Try again.
Would you like to operate the machine gun.
*splattered*

Might as well set it to auto-board tank when near.

I rarely ever post in a Halo OT on gaming side. Might as well go bash your head against a brick wall.
Yeah I prefer it here as well... I didn't know if this would be shutting down once we tapped out here or not. I'll be sticking around here as long as they're open.

One day they're going to have to come up with a system to deal with that.

The gap between this game's multiplayer and Reach in terms of quality is getting thinner every time I play it.

Looks like Team Slayer Pro for me.

Shit's feeling more like CoD every game. Run out die to random shit because you don't know who has what ordinance, perk, etc. Teams can just turtle and wait for ordinance drops. Getting blained from seemingly nowhere is ever more present. And scorpion + gauss? Really?

In Reach it seemed it was easier to get the boarding prompt to come up. In this, either they shrunk the area in which you can initiate the boarding or they felt the tank was underpowered and taped a bunch of boltshots and magnums to it to make boarding harder.

Also I miss the open hatch from the Halo 1 Scorpion. No idea why it was removed.

Yo, this game is fuckin' terrible

Triple kill.

GGs everyone. Halo 4 BTB is awful.

Sorry bro, outside of 4.5 secs.

I could agree to an open hatch if the tank was a bit more nimble.

That choice is such a bummer. Exile seems pretty cool, and I'd like to see some CTF on it (it's not in the CTF playlist, or at least it hasn't popped up for me in a couple dozen games), but their insistence on putting tanks and gauss hogs in matchmaking just baffles me. They can claim they've rebalanced everything all they want, but both are as overpowered as ever. Since 2004, devs have tried to put the tank in matchmaking, and each time it's failed. Why keep making the same mistake?

Yeah. My biggest pet peeve right now is how people can hang out on the fringe with their ordinance drops.

See that's exactly what I feared. I haven't touched the Multiplayer yet but I just am not a fan of COD's multiplayer.

Hey, remember when I pointed out every single issue people are complaining about months and months before release and everyone was like, "STFU Team Downer," "Ignore" and "You can't know that untill you've played the game?"

Those were good times.

Are you guys playing the same Halo 4 I am? I've yet to find anything infuriating like bloom, armor lock, white boy hops, or nuke grenades.

The actual base gameplay is decent (aside from slow strafing), but the game settings and external features are obfuscating it.

I can't wait for the posts of people saying they are going back to Reach.

RIP Halo.

But seriously, I am grinding for achievements right now in Campaign, but outside of that, I can't see myself replaying it much. The multiplayer had me skeptical from the get go, but I fully trusted that the campaign would keep me coming back. This is what disappoints me the most. I am truly disappointed.

smh

this thread sometimes.

You weren't the only one saying those things, and I am enjoying the game immensely.

The only thing about Halo 4 I cannot stand is the UI. I'm less than enthused about JiP.

Would you guys agree that Halo has the best lore for an FPS? I mean including all the other media for the franchise.

It's probably one of my favorite videogame stories out there.

How do some of you feel about the potential for MLG Halo 4, or more competitive multiplayer? Does Halo 4 have enough custom options to make ordinance predictable? Or come in a certain order?

I'm actually enjoying the game too, but the fact is that everyone can see there are going to be some pretty big issues once people get out of the "honeymoon" phase.

You can already see people starting to figure out what they can exploit in the game and it makes games extremely frustrating, random and campy. It's only going to get worse as people begin to focus more on winning rather than just having fun with the new game.

From what I hear, drop spawns don't work and you can't change the respawn to not be instant, so those are some pretty big hurdles.

343 obviously just threw everything they could think of at the wall. It's a fun mess.

To soothe competitive players, all that needs to be done is return features from prior games, turn off everything new that was added, and keep the core gameplay which is garnering widespread acclaim.

With 9 more maps, hopefully eveyone is happy. I think all this can be done by the time the last map pack is delivered. Cyren has a nice list of reasonable things that needs work.

I wouldn't read a Half Life or Bioshock book, if that's what you're asking.

I prefer Marathon's if only because the games themselves help flesh things out. I liked the characters and was more invested in the universe of Marathon, while I never really cared about Halo's. 4 only further cemented that with how much flew over my head as someone who hasn't delved into the expanded universe stuff.

I think I'll like this game a lot more in a month when all the bugs are fixed. Cause they HAVE to fix some of this shit.

I think a few people here are just questioning the honeymoon phase and getting everyone else really insecure. It's like, "I think I like this game, but it could just be cause its new, maybe I don't really like it! Oh my gosh, these guys on neogaf say they are feeling the same thing, this game isn't as good as I thought! Wait a second, this game sucks, ahhhh!" Only to ramp back up into everyone loving it again. Ride the wave, brah.

On the topic of H4, why is the
Didact pissed at the Librarian? I thought she was his wife...(I just read summaries of the books). Please don't say anything if it spoils the actual game, I haven't gone past the point of first time meeting him in-game
.

Just started MP for the first time, played two games.

Complex is awful, spawns are not good at all!

Nice to see the slayer pro playlist being healthy, although that might not be a good reflection on the rest of the playlists!

Need some extraction + other obj gametypes!

Oh and thanks for the theme Fyre... :)

Yeah, Complex is a terrible, terrible map. It feels like a thrown together forge map but I'd much rather have Relay (an actual forge map) in the rotation.

Well, that escalated quickly.

Yeah, Complex does not belong on the Slayer playlist. Also, the spawning on it is atrocious.

How to play Complex.
1) Jump on the tallest building.
2) Spam DMR until ordnance.
3) Spam ordnance power weapon until new ordnance.

Anyways, I think 343i did a great job with the shooting part of the game. Duels feel fun, landing shots on people feel great, and for the most part I feel like shots are landing where I want them to land. Aside from that, everything else is kind of bleh. Global ordnance beyond the initial spawn favors chance. Personal ordnance makes playing Infinity Slayer terrible because of the unexpected elements it adds like giving a guy an Energy Sword when you don't expect an Energy Sword to be on Haven. No longer having to wait for a full 4v4 in the lobby is...gross. No more "on my X" call outs.

Hey guys I just got my poster from Best Buy for pre-ordering!

... and it's destroyed. -_- Thanks mail service.

This is actually how a lot of maps in Halo 4 work, like Adept, Vortex, and basically anything with a tower/building you can rain down on people with 3x scope and power weapons with.
