This thread is blowing my mind on multiple levels. Jelly is Jello in Europe? Peanut butter is hated? Jam and cheese? What is going on?

I love PB and I'm european. If it wasn't so damn expensive I'd have some every day.
Especially good in fruit/milk shakes, gives them a lot of texture.

You euros are crazy. Nutella has 3x the sugar of peanut butter. I don't want diabeetus.

The thing is, we love Nutella (well, Nocilla here) but we rarely pork on it. Nobody eats Nutella on a daily basis*.

*and if they do, they are probably so fat they can't even get out of their doors, so we don't get to see their disgusting arses.

I don't mind PB, it's just not the kind of thing I could eat all the time. Like jam or honey, really.

I'd reach for it if there's like nothing else in the cupboard, maybe once a month or so.

Cheese + jam = delishus. Especially brown cheese + strawberry jam.

I don't eat it these days though, nothing but crisp bread with boiled, sliced ham for me when I'm at home (and crisp bread with cheese if visiting grandparents or mum).

I have to have peanut butter on my toast. Man, when you put it on there when the toast is still hot enough to melt it... droooool. Nothing else comes close.

Luckily you can find American style peanut butter at the supermarkets here in Switzerland. The one they sell is alright, but my mom sends me better stuff from the US sometimes. Besides on toast, I use it to bake (every single Swiss person I have given my peanut butter cookies to has loved them).

I will say though that peanut butter seems to work best on the pre-sliced white American style bread. On the Swiss-style fresh loaves it doesn't really work... cheese or meat goes much better with it.

No, seriously. What is "American style bread."

You guys don't think Wunderbread or whatever is what is popping over here, do you?

Crisp bread is okay, I much prefer normal bread, especially when it is fresh.
Combining brown cheese and jam is going off the deep end, both are great by themselves. Separate but equal! (errr..)

To be OT, peanut butter has never appealed to me.

She's probably making a distinction between this (bland, tasteless, spongy)

and this (heavy, rich, much firmer)

But we have all of those varieties in even the shittiest supermarkets. This isn't 1984. Nobody fucks with the shitty stuff unless they have no other choice.

I shared a peanut butter cookie (the kind with it spread inside the cookie) with a British soldier in Afghanistan and he literally gagged and starting raging. Then he would eat Vegemite on crackers and that tastes like complete garbage to me.

I did get a Welsh guy hooked on Reece's peanut butter cups, so all is not lost.

This thread is a fucking international comedy of errors, guys.

You seriously thought we put jello on our sandwiches. I know it's cool to think we're all violent bores, but seriously? We aren't bloody fucking savages!

I never understood why on earth someone would put jelly (jam) on top of peanutbutter, it sounds really gross. In fact, it sounds so gross I won't even try it.

What are you talking about? Peanut butter is one of the healthiest things to put on bread, it's filled with carbs and proteïns.

I work out a lot, peanut butter is a great supplement. For me, at least.

Oh, if you work out, then yeah, no problem. But for people who don't work out, 6 slices of bread with PB every day would be a carb bomba and highway to diabeetus.

Compare peanut butter to nutella.

I don't either personally.

Man I dunno what you guys are talking about Peanut Butter is tasty. Putting it on a nice warm slice of toast so it starts to melt is a little slice of heaven.

Well, he's Welsh.

The shittiest chocolate combined with the worst PB America has to offer should be still delicious by Welsh standards.
Oh snap!

As an American I sure do hear a lot of shit-taking about Welsh cuisine, but British cuisine also.

I realize that they are somewhat different cultures, but is the food THAT different?

Maybe for breakfast, but what do you pack your 4 year-old when she goes off to school?

People don´t feed sweets to their children here. Most parents only feed their kids candy on Fridays when there is Disney fun programs. Meal for kids age 3-6 dark bread (extremely healthy and filled with fibers) butter, and fillings like roast-beef, etc.... and for desert, they have vegetables, fruit bar. Children are not allowed to eat sweets in schools unless there´s a birthday of one of the kids, then everyone eat one small piece of cake.

I just found out that US´s number 2 brand ''Skippy'' is owned by the European company Unilever. Unilever owns Calve too. I wonder if they taste the same.

Why are people comparing Nutella with Peanut Butter? They don't taste the same, unless I'm eating some other brown thing labelled as Nutella
poop

Holland biggest consumer (importer) of peanuts per capita.

That does not necessarily say much, but we do love our pindakaas. Some guy even thought it would be cool to spread out peanut butter on a floor and call it art back in 1962.

Ugh, Reese's.

UGH.

To quote myself:

I can't stand Reese's cups. They are as if someone decided to mix the worst peanut butter in the world and the poorest quality chocolate at hand in one giant vat and then sprinkled the mix with several sacks of sugar and/or dried HFS to make it sweeter and grainier.

I honestly can't believe so many people love them. The texture alone is... blargh.

Also, crunchy PB is for animals.

I fucking love crunchy peanut butter. The smooth stuff just has the wrong texture in a sandwich. Ugh.

That said, I agree with the EuroGAF consensus that Nutella is better than peanut butter. Oh so much better. It's like heaven in spreadable form.

Oh damn, yes, this. Nutella and banana in a sandwich is nice too. It also makes me feel less guilty than just eating Nutella.

Is there really any need for that?

I'm Welsh and I thought they were gross.

Always a good time to make some good hearted fun of Welsh cuisine. Reese's cups, though... they only deserve hate.
