The Light of El Cantare
My mind is being blown right now.

I find it especially baffling considering that you can eat chips straight out of a bag just fine without crushing them. When I was younger I went through a phase where I was severely germophobic and didn't like to touch food with my bare hands, so I know these things.

Beginning infodump!!!!! At least that clears any confusion for the first episode. Man, the oldest sister is the best character ever!

Yeah, and crunching them in your mouth is half the fun!

I really should watch this someday. I pretty much stopped reading the manga not long
after L died
and pretty much every clip of the dub looks utterly hilarious.

You should. One of my favorite shows in the genre.

Yeah, watch the anime, though read the ending of the manga because it's infinitely better.

I enjoyed the anime ending more. I know there aren't many like me out there, though. I think it's because (ending spoilers)
I wanted Light to kill everyone... And at least in the anime he had a little dignity in his final moments.

The dub is fantastic. So many brilliant performances, especially L.

I don't think so. The manga finale was interesting but the info dump was not really necessary and I thought the final episode of the anime handled Teru Mikami better. Leaving some things will always be better than over explaining thing for me.

This, basically. The anime is fine but it absolutely fucks up the ending in just about the stupidest way imaginable. It also abridges some stuff in the second half of the story, but most people hate everything post-
-------L death-------
so you might consider that a good thing.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Sasami-san 2:
Fine, a bit disappointing in places (infodump, not using sprites), but otherwise it was SHAFT being SHAFT.

Guys, why can't really chill shows with great characters like Tsuritama be the trend in modern anime instead of pandering shit like SAO? WHY :(

You can rephrase that as 'why can't good shows with good writing be the trend in modern anime instead of shit like SAO,' and the answer would always be Sturgeon's Law, and it'd hold true for almost any period of time, in any medium.

Kotoura-san 2

Nothing too original or crazy, but the ups and downs work quite nicely for this show.

Kotoura is still probably the cutest thing of the season.

Could easily be the best show if the season if they don't fuck up somehow.

I feel like all the tragic moments in this show have been a satire of most anime melodrama. They just conflict too much with the nature the show is actually going for. A 10 minute montage in the first episode where everyone just shits on Kotoura? That can't have been played straight

Probably. But I guess it's due to how they switch between light hearted and melodrama enough to keep my heart from being too harden :p

Or maybe it's been a while since i've watched melodrama... who knows! All I know is that I'm enjoying this for now.

I know, I'm not trying to single out anime or anything, I mean I love the medium and sometimes there are awesome shows like Girls Und Panzer that manage to come along and be both entertaining and popular. I'm just bitter that stuff like Kokoro Connect then comes along and then fares abysmally. I want more character development in anime man :(

Kokoro Connect would have done fine if Silver Link wasn't full of cruel douchebags.

Sales wasn't even that good before the scandal.

Honestly,
Light getting a bit of dignity back is one of the reasons I didn't like it as much. The series played with the whole return to innocence angle when he gave up the Death Note the first time, but the guy was a psychopath through and through that long since crossed the point of no return. He wasn't a hero buried under a bunch of misanthropy, he was a child that got a hold of too much power. That's why seeing him beg Ryuk to kill everyone only to be denied was so satisfying. Make the guy feel remorse and yearn for a time when he wasn't a crazy mass murderer, and it just seems forced.

That's how I see it at least.

Kokoro Connects performance probably has more to do with the circumstances surrounding the show than anything else.

Top tier Omega episode, that was really quite bittersweet. The vocal track that played during the flashback was amazing.

I understand that point of view, and it's probably more logical than mine, but
I liked the character so much that it kind of hurt to read the manga ending.

Yup. If I'm not mistaken, Kokoro Connect was on track to be one of the best-selling shows of its season.

Make sure you watch the one-episode OVA that bridges the two series first.
According to Amazon it's listed on the DVD's as "Episode 26" which is pretty weird. That might be different if you own the complete collection though.

I ended up watching that after season 2, because it was the last thing on the last disc of the complete collection. And it had a To Be Continued at the end of it! I was pretty disappointed when I found out there wasn't actually more. :(

Damn shit's getting real in this episode. I was expecting at least another character development episode before it started to go crazy. They'll probably slow it down again once more to tie up Subaru's development, unless they tie that into the main plot. Frau was great this episode. I love her deranged attitude and how she uses that to shield her real self.
Her suicide attempt was quite confronting. I'd imagine suddenly being thought of as the bad guy while her mother's name is continuously tarnished over the internet would be difficult to bear, especially with her dependency on it.
The conspiracy's coming to shape now and as long as things don't scale back after this it should be amazing. PLEASE BE AMAZING!!!

The comedy in this really doesn't work at all. I'll drop it for now and pick it up again if it looks like anything interesting happens.

Embrace the future of anime.

Boring, didn't make it to the halfway point. Saw the 'docking' scene earlier on youtube. I'm out.

It might look better than S1, but that's a low standard to exceed and the characters still look so ugly:

Watched through most of Homoge Club before stopping; I just enjoy the manga so much more. Only good thing about the anime is Marina Inoue. One more dropped show for the dropped throne.

So will I :D
Lets not kid ourselves, we never will:(

I guess it's a good thing, but still,

Did someone see Evangelion 3.0 (You can (not) redo, I think)? Any spoiler-less impressions?

I'd like to see it, but my level of Japanese was not enough to see it in theater.

My level of Japanese was barely enough to see it in theaters. I may have misunderstood the biggest surprise in the movie before I went online and checked my work, but I was still able to follow everything regardless.

It's a solid movie. Even with its outrageous CG-filled action climaxes, the mood is closer to the late episodes in the series. I think the pacing is a little unbalanced (parts of the beginning needed more space, and the middle section of the movie is loooong), but it takes a unique direction that, if nothing else, was interesting to experience.

You should definitely be sure to see Rebuild 2 before you move on to 3.0, though. 1, from my understanding, can be skipped without much consequence.

If we could include theatrical movies in our top 10 anime of the year, it'd probably make it in mine, albeit in the back half.

I'm not watching another episode of Robotics;Notes until something has happened. I'm tired of getting my expectations up and being let down.

Episode 14

We've gone about 5 episodes now with Yayoi and I don't think I've heard a single "Un Un!" :(

Thank God? :)

Wait... are you reading every post?

As always, yes.

You've outed yourself as a voter of the fourth choice!

Haha, wtf, dude? Why don't you just click on "Next" when you're done reading a page?

Because my internet sux. :(

What the hell thats nuts.

Posts Per Page don't even matter. This makes it so much easier to catch up on a thread.

Also you're already dead.

You kids with your technology. I'm almost dead. =p

Ultimatemegax is great. He translated a lot of material for Chuunibyou as well. He posts a lot of it on Animesuki so I've been grabbing some of it and posting it here. That massive interview with Yamada and Yoshida is one example.

Thank you for that.^^

Oh man, I do not like reading about shit like Corinthians ITT, haha.

Ok. no more talk about it.

Yeah but no one actually cares about the Club World Cup. Chelsea sure didn't.
That's the nice excuse European teams always use when they get their asses handed to them.

Now that I have caught up, time to watch some anime.

My 13-year-old nephew changed his AIM icon to Kirito and messaged me that he's on his second watch-through of SAO "because it's cool!"
He also said he wants the Asuna and Kirito figures listed on the Crunchyroll store.
I imagine if he knew Japanese/lived in Japan, he'd probably be buying all the novels.
