Nintendo 3DS Direct 2013.2.14 - [Over: Waluigi Time]

So I haven't been able to browse GAF much today. Can someone give me a sober assessment of the chances of something notable coming out of this?

Mid-to-high.

*Simultaneous Directs generally mean 1st party game announcements (Bayonetta 2, X, and so on).
*Nintendo is promising 10 3DS 1st party (developed?) titles this year, of which we only know a handful (Band Brothers, Pokemon, Luigi, Lego, Friend Collection).

That being said, I'm keeping my expectations low (Advance Wars 3DS is a minimum ;) ).

Really? I thought the DS games did pretty well there. Regardless, I still wouldn't put it in the same league as Star Fox which hasn't had an original title since Command and a great game since Star Fox 64.

Star Fox Adventures am cry.

Also nobody wants Zelda 3DS by Monolith. They need to work on new RPGs. They can give the Zelda console team pointers on developing a good, large world however.

It seems like everybody wants someone to make Zelda but Nintendo. Serious problem here people.....x_x

I would like to see games, but I would love to hear about 2-4 player game pad usage. Carrying your stats and ranks to your friends house. It's what the dream cast vmu??? Was wanting to do.

Would be cool if you had friends that had wiiUs.. So if you are not in that group then I guess games.

3DS
Bravery Default Localization
Professor Layton VS Ace Attorney Localization
Project X Zone Dated

Wii U
Wave Race by Retro
More games that I care very little about.

just hoping for release dates is a super low/lame expectation because A) they're all but guaranteed and B) we already know the games are coming, and announcing the release date won't speed up the process at all. you should at least be expecting localization announcements. Bravely Default, for example.

in the last ND when they said they will speak about 3rd party Wii U games, was that only said in the NA ND? If so I would assume tomorrows ND is the main thing Iwata had in mind when saying that.

It's possible we will have a Nintendo Direct: Wii U Third Party Games

Like the First Party direct, Iwata didn't specify what he meant by it really, guess we'll have to see.

This is definitely not the 3rd party direct. In japan this is 3DS exclusive so we should see one for Wii U 3rd party later on.

I'd say we almost definitely will if Iwata made his statement about 3rd party games in all 3 NDs.

This is the 3DS ND Iwata talked about, so the 3rd party ND will be in March and we will prob see those games in action at GDC like has been rumored.

Yeah I'd expect that to.

Still hoping for some good Wii U news at this Direct (I'm not hyping though, I'll hype the 3DS news).

Just like many others, I'm really hoping for a Majora's Mask announcement tomorrow.

I think we all just better take slow, even breaths and then prepare the tissue box for the great, heaving sobs that will flow from our disappointed eyeballs.

I'm totally still hoping for it.

I feel like the three presentations are going to be fairly distinct because of (1) the disparity between the Japanese and Western 3DS libraries, which facilitates localization announcements in the West; and (2) the Wii U only being in the NoA direct. But if they're so different, why have them at the exact same time and not something more convenient for local viewers? Clearly, some new first party 3DS software will be unveiled. To what extent, I have no idea. Zelda? Donkey Kong? Rhythm Heaven? Who knows? Hopefully it's something cool.

As for the NoA Wii U stuff, I don't have high hopes. It's probably something fairly NoA specific, like new streaming services or the expansion of TVii. Perhaps they'll give release dates. Maybe Monster Games? Retro is the great hope, but that seems like something that gets blown out at E3.
