They have had two games in development for over two years now. They've long been a safe bet to show something from one of them.
Also, I just saw the Noctis perfume thread posts and I may have changed my tune on the possibility of Versus being at the event.

Well, in a way E3 is a good place for new IP, this might make more sense to recap the direction of SCE overall, say they're proceeding with TLG, show a bit of it, show a couple of games that got stalled this gen
... the reason you do this would be to show how much easier it is to work with PS4. "These games were just too hard to make, but our new development environment coupled with powerful new hardware, etc, etc"
I'm expecting about 5-6 games, three known and three unknown.

is Jack Tretton going to be presenting like he does at E3? he's a cool guy, I like him.
Bet accepted! I just think its too ahead of its time to appear on consoles coming out this year/ early 2014 with the very little media and compatible hardware that there is, and also the price of those displays. Next gen for sure though.

Seeing how hyped everybody is reminds me of PS3's unveiling and trailer-fest. Good times.
And I'd say that this gen has delivered close to what we saw in those, eventually, so I'm hyped.
(Why do I get the feeling Square is just going to show their Agni demo and say it's running on PS4? lol.)

It likely will support it. It's future proofing after all, and it's not like it costs crap loads of money to support it. They're going to be using HDMI 1.4 which supports 4k output (non-3D however, there's no HDMI spec that supports 4k 3D).
However, don't expect games to run natively at 4k, even if you get a 4k television. They're going to be upscaled. It's mostly there for 4k movies. If Sony starts talking up 4k games on Wednesday, they're probably spouting completely bullshit.

I started looking forward to Versus when I was in the middle of high school. I finished my bachelor's degree a year and a half ago. I'm going to be shocked at any news that it exists any more.
it's hard to imagine that versus was announced at the premier of the ps3....and now it's the premier of the ps4.
I really don't understand why so many people want to see stuff that we've already seen at the event. What's exciting about that? Sure, I'm still interested in TLG and Versus, but, at the same time, I just don't see what new information about those titles could possibly be worth showcasing over something that is completely new.

Uhmm because we have barely seen these games the past 5 years, both have been in development for so long and ppl are eager to see if they are any close to a finished product, plus if both have bee switched to a different console like the rumors suggested, that just increases the interest level.

The 10 year plan never referred to a console gen lasting the entire 10 years. Or we would have only gotten a PS3 last year or so.
Wonder if this same problem happened with the PS1/PS2.
