So no price drop for the Vita and instead of having games made exclusively for the system it's going to turn into a streaming client. That sounds terrible.

so you were waiting for Vita price cut and vita games announcements in the PS4 event? really?

using Gaikai tech to make Vita able to work as good as Wii U gamepad with all PS4 will be good, and it is just a feature you can use or ignore.

If anything more people having Vitas is not a bad thing..also they didn't kill Vita games developments or anything.

Wonder why they changed the Vita D-Pad from the devkit controllers back to the four-piece? :(

yeah, hope they put vita dpad back in the final version of DS4.

So if all PS4 games are going to be remote play with Vita, what incentive will developers have to even make a Vita version of any games?

Considering that third party devs rarely if never offer cross-buy (Sony only), how would that be a bad thing? Other than slightly higher costs as you're forced to buy the PS4 version, but then you're getting the console game.

I suppose it would be like if instead of Urban Trials having a PS3 version and an inferior Vita version for a few bucks less, you'd have the PS3 version playable on both. Seems like a win-win to me.

(But I suppose the actual answer would be for Vita owners that don't own a PS4, and as mentioned above^)

This, and if it's only remote play (no actual Vita version of the game), then you can't play it on the go.

Maybe I'm just being alarmist, though. I guess this will get more people interested in the Vita in the first place, which can only be good.

Remote play for all PS4 is HUUUUUGE for me. It's like Wii U offscreen play but actually next-gen. Love my Vita even more now.

Weren't people saying wait for this conference to see if the support was there? What about people that don't want to get a PS4 but want vita games are they shit out of luck?

Expectation Check: This event was for the PS4 unveiling. It's one thing to be disappointed about the lack of Vita news, it's another to complain..this wasn't a Vita event.

That said, what ever happened with that Sony employee on twitter who said that this was the month of the Vita's crowning and that it wasn't even the 20th yet?

That guy is a fraud. He was talking about some new indie games being announced and Europe's oh-so-lovely 1st Vita-versary sale.

famousmortimer is the only one who's hinting anything of actual substance. Though if he was talking about the game I think he was, hype remains at zero for now.

So if all PS4 games are going to be remote play with Vita, what incentive will developers have to even make a Vita version of any games?
Places where there's no/low-speed Wi-Fi? People who don't want to spend $400+ on a PS4?

Regardless, I think implementation will be disappointingly sloppy and rare. Sony never gets anything completely right.

Interesting what they're planning to do with the Vita...so it'll be remote play, but it won't be a controller then?

Hope we get more info on that.

think about it this way...
if the ps4 is a success
and if the vita remote play takes off
the vita will sell more
and more games will come to it.

i've been saying for a while though that this event likely wasn't going to talk much about the vita, they have to save something for destination playstation next week, which lines up with the japanese date for the vita price cut nicely so it makes sense to have vita news and the price cut there.

Holy shit! Toto is the voice of reason?! Did I die during the event or something? Quick!!! Someone call 911! I need a bambulance!

J/K buddy -- but seriously, I like this Toto. Sarcastic voice of reason Toto. *high-five*

Cut off at the knees, that poor thing.

More B-tier schlock, save us Media Molecule (and your tiny Vita team of 15 people).

Based on the conference, I'd rather play Killzone: Mercenary than play CrysisZone 4.

Yup, that's pretty much me. I'm just hoping that developers won't ignore Vita development since "oh well they can just use remote play to play whatever they want." Like I said, maybe it's a stupid worry. Here's hoping.

Mercenary is no longer the next Killzone, Shadow Fall is. A really stupid announcement to make if it isn't a launch title, and Sony planned on making Mercenary a big deal.

(1) No launch date.
(2) Footage looked early.
(3) Footage wasn't impressive (to me, at least)

Again, I'd buy a Vita and Killzone: Mercenary before I'd ever consider a PS4 and Crysiszone: 4: Shadow Fail

if every developer had unlimited funds and could push the best graphics possible they would then likely ignore the vita and just say that they can use remote play.

That isn't the case, and especially with japanese developers they would rather just make early ps3 level projects because they are much cheaper, that would look to crappy to release as a full ps4 release, but require to much work to be a psn only release and thus would be right at home on the vita.

the niche jrpgs at the very least I don't see going anywhere.

plus portability is important in japan, remote play only works locally, lots of people use handhelds on trains.

if sony was smart though they would release the ps4 at $400 base, with a second model that is $500 that includes a vita to move both a ps4 and vita at the same time even if they lose a little extra on the bundle.

Killzone PS4 is not a Vita game, KZM will be the next KZ game they release and the one on Vita, KZ4 don't change this.

Also KZ Vita was a spinoff when they announced it,made by Cambridge people, it was never supposed to be the big next Killzone game.

GG confirmed Killzone is a PS4 launch title.

Guess they have a lot of work to do then. :3

I still don't think it changes anything.

It's simple:
(1)You own a Vita and want Killzone Mercenary.
(2)You will buy a Vita and Killzone Mercenary because you want a quality portable Killzone title.
(3)You will buy a PS4 and Killzone Shadow Fall because you want a next gen Killzone experience and are willing to shell out hundreds of dollars more to be an early adopter.

I don't think 3 necessarily precludes sales that would generate from 1 or 2.

10 out of 10 totos

Speaking of, what the hell is happening with Toto in this page? Did he get his account hacked?

Glad to impress.

Don't get me wrong, I love Killzone, but that aesthetic they chose didn't seem to fit; the rifle looked way different than most of the weapons in the PS3 Killzone games and if I had only caught the trailer starting at the spot where the player was holding on to the rope, I seriously would have thought "WTF? another Crysis game already?" until the door opened and a Helghan popped out.

I'm sure I'll play it eventually; But I'm not in group 3 from my previous post.

--

I still can't believe they *LED* the conference off with Knack.
I would've thought some iconic Sony franchise would have been first up. Killzone (even though I'm criticizing it currently), Infamous (sorta, not as identifiable without Cole, as the aesthetic was different/new), or maybe something like Uncharted 4 or LBP3 or something that carries more weight than a new IP (which generated 0 interest for me).

Capcom mentioning the PSP and Monster Hunter at the PS Meeting made me laugh a bit. That Capcom Vita support.

That gave me a chuckle and the fact that during the presentation Capcom completely skipped over the Vita. Talked about ps2, psp, ps3, and then went to ps4

But we all knew Capcom hates the Vita so it didn't shock me. But the troll factor was pretty large.

To add I grabbed UTF and it's pretty fun, never played a Trails game before and it's been worth the Kaz PSN fun bucks that I spent on it

Only thing I was hoping for from this event as far as Vita is concerned, is the announcement of 64 GB+ mem. cards =/

So many crybabies in regards to that conference. I went in hoping they'd do a few things:

1) Show new games (they did)
2) Say they were going to finally push remote play on Vita for PS4 games (they did)
3) Say they were doing backwards compatibility, somehow. (they did)
4) Not skimp on overall system memory for the PS4 (they definitely didn't)

... that's about all I can think of now. We still have lots to look forward to people, Sony is at basically every game event round the year so of course they're not blowing their load tonight. Silly drama queens :p

I agree, most people expected Sony to reveal everything tonight. This was just a taste like a good pusher does, give the waiting hordes a nibble, then a little more, then E3 drop a bomb or two, more hype throughout summer, and by launch you have people foaming at the mouth.

Sony has MS and Ninty to worry about showing their hand now would be stupid. All Sony did tonight was show that they have a really strong hand and that they are coming to play for keeps. I loved the show tonight, it didn't live up to the hype I had built up in my mind but I don't think Sony could have lived up to that level of hype anyways

I'm pretty sure if the DualShock 4 has a share button still when or if I finally buy a PS4, I will be opening the controller and disconnecting it. :)

I have to say Killzone Mercenary does look kind of shitty now :p

I think I can manage my expectations and remind myself it's just a handheld. It helps this will likely come out before PS4 too. I can play it before KZ4 ruins the game for me.
