[PS3] New Kingdom Hearts HD Screenshots

These look like Square-Enix shots to me. Not saying this isn't what the game will look like, but these are screenshots S-E put out for the Playstation 2 version:

Going by what S-E released, Kingdom Hearts 2 has always looked that clean :p

Man resolution hid some really good art during the PS2 era

Thanks, Seda! Famitsu really compresses their pics.

I wonder when we are finally getting HD screenshots. It's getting close to launch too.

When do you guys think they will finally announce this for NA? E3? I'm kinda hoping not to long after it releases in Japan.

CoM looks pretty nice for a game that originally came out for the GBA (I realize that all of the assets were redone for the PS2 port).

I'm not sure there were so many redone assets in Re:CoM. All of them come from KH1, outside of Castle Oblivion and the Organisation members.

Certainly before E3 since the recording was confirmed a while back. I expect release around E3 time. Confirmation next month maybe after the jap release?

Org members had assets done in vanilla KH2 already for that one flashback scene and the model viewer on Jiminys journal. Of course they prolly were working on Re:CoM around that time tho?

Sooner the better. :) They need to get working on the next set. KH 2 with Birth by Sleep and watchable 3DS Dream Drop cutscenes?

That is what I am expecting. Some say they would skip DDD and have Coded scenes instead but I don't buy it. They need the DDD scenes since they want everything important available on the consoles and Coded can be skipped.

I really want this but I hope the PS2 HD remasters are emulated so they just run on PS4: no way I'm buying the disc version.

Kingdom Hearts is one of my favorite franchises. I still own the black label of the first 2 and re:com. I have DDD, but I don't own BBS or coded.

I was hoping for something last night. Yeah, it was a PS4 event, but they still have the PS3 to support until then. We've still got PAX East, GDC, and even the MS Event (Yeah, it could be multiplatform outside of JP) before E3, so it's only a matter of time.

Square's affair last night was borderline trolling, at least to me. They should've not even showed up.

Wtf system is 2.5 going to be on
Uh... PS3? It will still be supported for at least 2-3 more years, making the HD ports of a couple of PS2/P games won't take too long. I'd guess 2014 will still be a somewhat healthy year for PS3 with things starting to wind down in 2015.

I hope Sony announces YOPO for PS3-PS4 for future games on one bluray disc and that SE uses it. KH2FM 60FPS 1080P :).

But do you really choose to support just the PS3? Do they make a version for PS4 as well? What about those that get a PS4 and get rid of their PS3?

On the flip side, what about those who don't upgrade?

The idea solution seems to be a version for both systems but that could be a problem.

Also, will they ramp up the development team to get the game out in a more timely manner? Wasn't 1.5 mostly developed by 2 people?

2.5 is in a weird situation and a weird point in time. Same for Kingdom Hearts 3 and VersusXIII.

We're not talking about KH3 here. These are just remasters of old games; they don't need to be on the PS4.

People who are getting rid of their PS3s are going to be in a minority. You can either get rid of your PS3 and skip out on the collections or keep it for the collections and your old games.

Just because it doesn't need the power of the PS4 doesn't mean it shouldn't be available on a current, new system though. Madden doesn't need to be on PS4 but it will I'm sure. Same for CoD.

Those aren't remasters but in that case KH1 and 2 don't need all the power available on PS3 either. It looks about as good as it could possibly look (except fish mouths I guess) and all they added was a higher resolution, higher-res textures, and some higher polycounts on certain character models. I'm sure the PS3 could do even better.

No harm putting the same title on PS4 as well so everyone can play it, especially since there's a good chance Kingdom Hearts 3 itself will be on PS4. It's just weird to me to put out two collections on an old console, which are leading up to a game that you'll need a new system for. And if you get that new system you can't play the two collections on it. Hopefully with the new architecture it won't be that difficult to port. Maybe they can make a single two-disc collection with both games on it for PS4.

With the lack of backwards compatibility on PS4 I think we might see more than a few games with separate PS3/PS4 versions to improve what would normally be a harsh transition from the old console to the new.

It's because KH3 will be for PS3 ;)

They can make a super collection for PS4 in the future. Possibly. Maybe. If they see any potential for it. The collection isn't even multiplat so I doubt SE really cares about making it for PS4. They'll just get it out for the PS3 and people can buy it if they want.
