This thread caused drama very different from the type I expected. Was Zeal always crazy and I never noticed it, or did he just snap recently?

Weighing in on this epic thread. I don't believe any leaks or 'insiders' until proof. Leaks like this have such a strained credibility because they're saying exactly what people want to hear, as well as jumping onto a likely eventuality that forumers have been saying for a long time. Shit, I'd love it if this were real. But to me, Zeal is just another GameFAQS troll monkey unless he can produce something tangible. Nothing against the guy, I'd buy him a beer if he's on the money, but all I've seen so far is words, words, words. I suggest everyone do the same - if this news is true, then wonderful, but if it's not than it's going to hurt doubly when the game is canceled or finally released as a Lightning dress-up dating sim.
This is the best thing I've read in this whole thread. LISTEN TO THIS MAN, SQUARE!
Don't give them fucking ideas, man!when the game is canceled or finally released as a Lightning dress-up dating sim.
Now that I think about it its probably in SE best interest for PS4 to do well in Japan since WiiU cant run their new engine and 720 probably wont be doing well over there.
They said Luminous is highly scalable and can run on the 3DS. Regardless, I doubt they'll be making next gen FF on the Wii U.
wow did not know that.
The Luminous Engine is hugely scalable, says Square's chief technical officer and Luminous demo producer Yoshihisa Hashimoto. So much so that it could power titles on current-gen systems and even mobiles and tablets.
"In the case of the Luminous Studio, we're probably not going to be bound to any particular platform," he told RPGSite when quizzed on scalability.
He went on to say that the engine caters to "PC already, probably PlayStation 3, Mobile, iPad tablets also browser and cloud as well. Not just next-gen - we can scale," he said.
Hashimoto also insisted that, with further optimisation, the impressive visuals shown in the demo should be possible in a real game even with the added strain of AI, physics and animations lumped on top.
"This time, a lot of power was expended on graphics because we wanted to show something really visually impressive. To be clear, it hasn't been optimized yet. So we should be able to optimize AI, graphics, the animation, audio all those things to slot together," he said.
"Of course we, the team, created this engine but definitely we are going to raise the bar for AI, animation, audio and physics everything.
"What we were using today for this demonstration it's of course high specification, but all the parts are also things readily available in the PC market right now. The graphics board you could probably buy without driving too far from here. It's very realistic that in the near future people can play a game with visuals of this quality."
Hashimoto did, however, suggest that the fidelity of next-gen Luminous games may require more storage space than a single Blu-ray disc can provide.
Really forgetting the series' origins there...
Why not use all that playstation power and make a new Chrono Trigger instead?
Hey, just because the first game had flying boats designed by long dead Engineer Gods, hailing from an Ancient Civilization who constructed a Floating Fortress you couldn't reach until you got a Mechanical Cube from a Robot, and in said fortress you fought a giant war machine to the death, doesn't mean it had anything to do with science technology!
And just because in the third game there was a mechanically powered floating continent, and in the fourth game there was an alien civilization which introduced magic and technology and built giant robots and towers full of robots and space ships and interstellar travel.
And in the fifth game there were steam powered boats and submarines and flying cities and in the sixth there was mecha and submersible castles and steam ships and.
Wait, has there ever been an FF without heavy tech?
we had rumors popping up last year about Chrono game developed with Nintendo if you're interested in believing the crazies
Zeal got banned...
Yes, with every obnoxious post he made.Zeal got banned...though I get the feeling he asked for a ban.

It'll probably feature the entire development script to be honest, which would be bad. Who knows. Hopefully whoever decides to post anything that isn't meant to get outside development will have someone with some credibility and decency who gives it to them.
Anyway, who knows at this point. See you gentlemen tomorrow, if I don't wake up to a pissed Kagari and be banned lol.
Eitherway, goodnite and thanks for an interesting debate.
I'm assuming marketing for the game will be even better than due to Sony's help.
I do hope the graphics utilize the power of the PS4 so it doesn't look like a PS3 age game.

Who's the guy and why people are talking about him?
I am not sure about that considering their recent marketing. Though they did fire their old terrible marketing team and hired a new one.

did venderus also get banned? he is the one I personally believe

goodNo, he isn't banned.
Last Chrono game was Resurrection. Which got shut down. We got a DS Port instead. And then maybe another port down the road. And then I think CT series stagnated and died off completely.
good
What makes Venderus any more credible?
Resurrection was a fan project that was just remaking a select number of scenes from the original game in the team's homebrewed engine.
It was never meant to be a full on game, and it sure as hell wasn't official.
FF has always had sci-fi elements, and I don't think anyone is saying otherwise. But the early games still retained a certain degree of medieval fantasy flair that has been gradually diminishing since VI's pseudo-medieval steampunk world. IX and XII are notable exceptions. Oddly, the online entries are the two modern FF games that I feel most closely resemble the series' origins.
But I feel that this is in part because the series has moved toward building its own worlds. X, XII and XIII for instance, all give off a feeling of very different, very built up worlds (yes, even XIII which poorly implements its mythos.)
I'd also like to point to Four Heroes of Light and Type-0. Especially Type-0, which manages to have modern cities, Victorian towns, and mystical Japanese towns all while building up its world in an expert way.
Perhaps he was overZEALous?
I think those last few posts really ZEALed the deal.
Both of these are games I'd very much like to play, especially Type-0. Still holding out hope!
the fact that he shared the info with kagari and isnt banned yetThat's what I'm wondering.

No, it was never going to be a game at any point. The team was very clear about how it was never going to grow beyond that, because they were small enough to where remaking those ten scenes alone was a massive undertaking for them and doing the full game was way out of their range. You could say it wasn't a game but could of been. It was a mere teaser back then which is all it became.
I never said it was official, however for a fan project it was impressive. Apparently Square thought so too.
if it really is an action rpg then this would be the first FF game i'm interested in.

And we never really know if SE was impressed by it or not. They C&D'd it after the team took the project to E3 to try and sell their engine to a publisher. As it stood, SE already had a much nicer engine that would have worked translated CT a lot better into 3D than the Resurrection engine.
Either way, saying that it was "the last Chrono game" makes it sound like you were expecting it to be official at some point.
