I think Steam sales make us pretty bad customer wise. Since we KNOW that X game will be sale, we never pay the 40-50$ and just wait for the sale.
I actually stopped buying physical games on steam because of that.
I really want the PC physical market the grow again... I think its a dead cause but I will support it.

Ok, but does this version have half-ass TouchPad support? Because if not, I'm gonna wait to pay 10x that price

Square-Enix loves you

Why does this exist?

To be clear, I am wondering what the point of porting this game so late on to the Wii U is. Was there honestly ever any demand for this?

Late ports like this happen to all the consoles constantly. It's only a "problem" in comparison to the Wii U's lack of other software.

RE4 Wii did not launch at $20. I think it was $40.

Really? Huh. I could've sworn it came out at budget price. I guess I'm just remembering wrong.

If that's the case, then I guess $50 for an originally $60 game is basically the same as $40 for an originally $50 game.

I just did a search. RE4 debuted at $30 for the Wii.

did they do well with the MAss Effect port?

It was one of the better ported launch games for WiiU. Framerate was a bit below 360 but well beyond PS3. I also think it had V-sync. Not sure if there were other touch-ups such as higher res textures or something. Did have off-TV play.

I can see value in porting old games to a new console. They establish a fanbase and they're relatively cheap to produce.

I don't understand the pricing though. If you give a fanbase good games, even if they're old, they'll sell. They just have to be sold at a good price. I could see Deus Ex selling pretty well if launched at $30 with all of the DLC and Wiiu specific features.

This game is in a RE4 Wii type situation for me. A port of one of the greatest games from last gen (hopefully) upgraded.

I know this wont sell but I'm dying to hear more about the new content

RE4 came out at $30 (I believe) and had significant feature and content improvements over the PS2 and Gamecube versions.

I don't know what the fuck they could add here to justify $50. Certainly not just the GamePad features. In my opinion it would, at the very least, take an additional extra chapter the size of "Missing Link"... in addition to Missing Link being included (which we think it will be).

Though there are rumors of other changes and optimizations to the core game. Maybe they did something with the bosses...

Ideal Fairytale Scenario: They actually went back and added the things Eidos Montreal said they never got to, like upper Hengsha and more Montreal.

I bet for SquareEnix, looking at the hardware and brainstorming, they were probably like "Ohhh imagine a game like this with the gamepad?" "Hey, Deux Ex would fit would this, wouldn't it??"

I can't imagine this was expensive to produce unless they did some DRASTIC overhauls to the game, and it gets Nintendo-only gamers a taste of Deus Ex so it has a chance to create SOME kind of fanbase on the platform.

They are probably hoping that since kids have in general one console, and that the old console was the Wii, they can sell this new market the same game. There is a lot of people who buy a console and then wont buy a new console for 6 years. "You already have your Nintendo, why do you need a new one"

I also bought this on Steam. $5 I think

and in my ~17 years of PC gaming it's the first time I can recall not being able to run a game smoothly. granted my PC is really getting dated, but point is DX:HR is a relatively intensive game, so there's more reason for some to buy a port like this. Hopefully they add content, but at the every least they need to make good use of the gamepad and launch it at $40.

man it's sad, Wii U getting a port of a game i played and clocked years ago and they want me to pay full new retail pricing for it.

Or i could go pick it up second hand on Xbox 360 and PS3, or buy it on PC via Steam, and still have half my money left over even after buying all dlc.

Years? Its 1 year and a half old. Not really "years" worthy.

It's not out yet. It'll be close to 2 years by the time it's on the shelf .

Either way i see no point in releasing a game 1.5 years after it graced other platforms, yet alone asking full RRP to purchase it. Even if the port has some serious additions for the controller, not worth it $50 USD.

If this game make huge leap like NG3:RE i will get it day one with any price :)

After i checked NG3:RE for Wii U & PS3 really impressed.

That way of thinking may have worked for a 4-5 year cycle... 7 though? I dunno about that...

Nintendo fans will be very pleased to hear that the critically acclaimed Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be making its way over to Wii U - but not as you know it. We're not ones to do things by half measures, so don't think that you're just getting a straight up port - oh no we've got something a bit more special in store!

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut has been specifically designed to make the most of the Wii U's features, particularly the Wii U GamePad. The GamePad touch-screen will give you access to Adam Jensen's new improved neural hub for hacking, interactive map editing, augmented sniping, grenade throwbacks and more.

The Director's Cut isn't the same game either - it's been augmented! Tong's Rescue mission and the Missing Link chapter have been seamlessly integrated into the single player story, not to mention a tonne of improvements based on your feedback. The Director's Cut introduces overhauled boss fights, redefined game balance and combat, improved AI, and not to mention a graphical polish that could only be achieved on the Wii U.

So if you're look for an unforgettable Wii U game that blends RPG perfectly with action, this is the game for you! Make sure you click the follow button on the Deus Ex: Human Revolution game page and check back regularly for more details coming soon.

Need more exact details on what's been changed, just making the statement "overhauled boss fights" doesn't mean much if the changes are very minimal, like a health reduction or AI adjustments.

If "overhauled boss fights" means you don't have to kill them to move forward they have done it right if not, meh.

Loved this game, been wanting a GoTY edition of it to have the dlc and latest patches on disc - this seems to do the trick... Hope they end up releasing it for Ps3/360 in the end as well. Not likely though...

"You can now kill Lawrence Barrett, Yelena Fedorova and Jaron Nammir without firing a single bullet. "We took the whole experience Deus Ex gave you and we applied it correctly to the boss fights," Pedneault continues."

'It's not the same game! It's not the same boss fights!'

Still buying, so long as it a) comes to Japan and b) doesn't clash with Pikmin.

From the eurogamer article.

"Each of the game's three boss fights have had their map layouts reworked to provide players with alternative potential strategies. New hacking challenges are available to players who focus on hacking, and stealth options are available to those who focus on stealth.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD: You can now kill Lawrence Barrett, Yelena Fedorova and Jaron Nammir without firing a single bullet. "We took the whole experience Deus Ex gave you and we applied it correctly to the boss fights," Pedneault continues."

I think I'm getting this. I really liked the game and the improvements seem to make it worth it.

Beat the bosses without killing?

I'M IN!

Really interested but only at a fairly low price. I'll probably end up with a copy at some point though. I'd love a new play through and a 'directors cut' seems like a good excuse.

Edit: Killing the bosses in a sneaky way is a good enough compromise for me. Sounds a bit like "Stamina killing" bosses in MGS3 and 4 I guess. Interested to hear just how it'll play out though.
