HEROIC SACRIFICES EVERYWHERE!!! Oh man, they went out like serious badasses, too. I didn't expect this to be better than the last bout, but HOLY CRAP. How they managed to sneak in a serious character development for the two just before their final match against that goddamn MAMMOTH of a Gundam is beyond me, but they still did it!
And now Rain is gonna communicate a point to Allenby's soul. WITH HER FISTS.

I think that's enough Sailor Moon for tonight. Between this and three different Precure shows a week I feel I'm going crazy.
We really don't get enough of the "old short perverted man with a taste for sake" type of character anymore. Happosai was one of the funniest cartoon characters of my youth, and Rei's grandpa is quite similar to tickle my funny bone.
Not sure what he was expecting from hiring a drunken hobo as an apprentice. Of course he's gonna have the hots for Rei.
I think that's enough Sailor Moon for tonight. Between this and three different Precure shows a week I feel I'm going crazy.
lol, I expect Haganai to go higher. There's a bunch of us who were hesitating to buy it yet because we're still waiting to see what the illustrations for some store bonuses will be (all the ones by Buriki still don't have samples up yet).
I eventually gave up waiting and decided to just go with Sofmap this week.

I guess if you liked Spice and Wolf, you may want to check out Maoyuu Maou Yuusha - it shares much of the same staff and the same director, and definitely aspires in being something of a spiritual successor to it. I'd suggest giving it one or two episodes and seeing how much succeeds in being that successor - I'm not that keen on it (and I adore S&W), but I don't think giving it a shot would hurt too much.
Aside from that, I'd suggest watching Hyouka and Tsuritama. If you're looking for solid action, Code: Breaker might be worth your time.
As for the kind of magical girl show you're looking for, I think you might enjoy Puella Magi Madoka Magica the most. That said, Little Witch Academia has just been made available, and while it's not so much 'magical girls' in the sense that they're, well, actual witches, but the short is really, really superb stuff in its' animation, direction, and characterization. I would not advise missing it.
I think its not to the second half/final third that it gets anywhere pretending to be such a spiritual successor.

I couldn't tell you where it ends, but there's definitely more light novel material. We'll never see fem-Ayumu animated.
Haganai NEXT vol.1 has already delivered and I expect it to continue to do so. (Although unless I'm forgetting something, there's still no scene for Yozora this season either. She is long overdue...)
Vividred Operation isn't a harem, but it has also.

Best anime mirai offering in its three-year history; all hail Y.Yoshinari; based Trigger; et cetera, et al, so on and so forth. (Little Witch Academia and Kizuna Ichigeki are the two 'must-see' projects, I think.)
It just feels really assured and confident in its ability to deliver the simple story--perfectly paced for its runtime, wonderfully expressive and vibrant, with the score and the great background art complementing the release.

No - that's talking about the release of the second novel, not the anime.
I've taken some time to gather all the various rough sketches, concept designs, image and story boards from the Aoki Uru design collection cd from 98. Is there a good way for me to share this (It should be fair since the CD is pretty much impossible to come over, right?) with those who want it? It's well above 500~ pictures I think.
I have to say though, it really does make so many modern anime seem pretty bad though. This thing is/was really ambitious. It's also really old school which makes the probability of the project being released as originally envisioned exceedingly low.
I also got the original Yamaga screenplay for anyone who wants to read it.
